I need atleast 6 more people to contribute for the trip. That will still leave me with a large portion of the trip since the cost of getting in for a non-member is $275.00 now. and the gas will cost me 70-75.00. Deep Impact: Same-Sex Marriage's Effect on Society

Studies show some 25 percent of 12-year-olds are uncertain of their sexual orientation.

CBN.com – (CBN News) - BOSTON -- A new Los Angeles Times poll shows 72 percent of Americans oppose same sex marriage. Most consider homosexuality to be against God's will. And they think gay marriage would degrade traditional marriage. That supports what CBN News found on a recent trip to Boston, Massachusetts. Many people have serious concerns about the impact homosexual marriage will have on children, society, and even the church.
Homosexuals have taken to the streets of Boston in recent weeks to protest for what they say is a basic right -- the right to marry.

One homosexual said, "Everybody has the right to marry whoever they want."

Some of their heterosexual allies agree.

Donald Richards, whose best friend is a lesbian, said, "If you're happy with your partner and your partner just happens to be the same sex you are, then fine, so be it. Love is everything."

New York Times conservative columnist David Brooks commented, "And that faithfulness to another person is just, I think, a conservatizing institution."

Even some conservatives, like columnist Brooks, say we shouldn't just accept, but expect gay marriage.

Brooks said, "There are going to be gay people, so I want to see them inside marriage rather than outside, because they will lead deeper, richer lives, lives that are better for this country."

What you will often hear from folks at gay rights demonstrations is, 'How would my gay marriage hurt you?' Well, actually, there are several answers. First, many worry that same sex- marriages could hurt children, both those in gay households and out. Obviously many homosexuals disagree.

Brendan, a homosexual activist, said, "I know many gay couples and lesbian couples who love each other very much, and they adopt children and they have healthy children."

But opponents say homosexual adoption hasn't been around long enough for gays to claim it's good for kids.

Christian historian Peter Marshall Jr., author of "The Light and the Glory," said, "Statistically it's obvious, it's pathetically obvious, that children are best raised in a family situation where the parents are one husband and one wife."

Cindy Joseph, a Massachusetts mother, said, "If they grow up in a family with two same-sex parents, how are they going to grow up? That's not normal."

Social historian Allan Carlson, author of "The American Way," says kids from gay households will likely face crises. "From their own sexual identities, to troubles at school, to troubles with drugs. We're engaged in a huge and risky and dangerous experiment, and children are the ones who are going to be paying the price."

Folks like these Massachusetts' mothers worry that their kids will be brainwashed when same-sex marriage is sanctioned.

Massachusetts mother Liz Thomas said, "And now my children are going to go to school and they're going to learn that there are all different kinds of mommies and daddies."

Joseph said, "I don't want them to think that it's okay for two people of the same sex to get married. It's just everything against what I've taught them. And they'll bring that into the public schools and eventually probably into the private schools."

Thomas added, "They're going to be teaching them different ways of having sex, and I don't want my children learning that. It's just not right."

Pastor Robert Miranda, of the "Lion of Judah" church in Boston, helped organize this recent rally in Boston. The rally attempts to highlight that the homosexual lifestyle is a dangerous one -- one that leaves many young men dead before they even reach age 40.

Studies show some 25 percent of 12-year-olds are uncertain of their sexual orientation.

Miranda says homosexuals demanding society's acceptance should realize the effect that might have on impressionable kids. He said, "They're not seeing the fact that it has implications for the others that are to come as well, that we are fighting not just for them - it is their right in a sense to choose to destroy themselves - but we also have to fight for our children and for our society."

Indeed, society itself will be a likely victim, as gay marriage seriously weakens the idea that marriage almost always means child-bearing.

Marshall commented, "God instituted marriage for the procreation of children, for the furtherance of the human race…obviously. I mean, that's an uh-huh, ya know. That being the case, if you redefine marriage, if you destroy the basic family unit, what's at stake here is the very fabric of our society…of all societies."

Carlson said, "It's a way of committing societal suicide."

It is happening now in Western Europe, where heterosexual marriage is fading even as gay unions are blessed. Many Europeans are rejecting their Christian roots and its morality, refusing to marry and refusing to have kids.

Carlson said, "Only about 60 percent of the children are being born just to replace the existing population."

Back here in the U.S., the way America governs itself could be crippled by the way homosexual marriage is brought about. In Massachusetts, state judges in this courthouse have run roughshod over the will of the people and their legislators, demanding that gay marriages be legalized as of May of this year.

Marshall calls it "judicial tyranny" and warns that it's spreading. He said, "The State Supreme Court has inserted itself, usurped the function of the legislature, passed a decree that they have no constitutional business of doing. The Supreme Court of the United States has done this repeatedly, and with increasing frequency in the last few years."

Rogue officials, like San Francisco's mayor, have defied their own state laws by arbitrarily deciding to grant marriage licenses to homosexuals.

Tammy Bruce is a lesbian, but one with a new, somewhat conservative radio show, and she doesn't like this kind of lawlessness.

Bruce said, "For me as a Democrat, it is obscene and it should concern every Democrat and every decent American, regardless of what the issue is. Bruce warns such actions could begin to rip away at the fabric of law and order.

This lesbian firebrand is an unexpected ally in conservative causes. She said, "My politics haven't changed. The reality is that the Left has gone so far to the Left, they're now fascist. So this pro-choice, lesbian feminist is seen as a conservative."

She wonders how liberals would feel if conservative mayors started to act like San Francisco's mayor.

Bruce said, "What do you think The Left would do if that pro-life mayor in Fresno did the same thing: shut down abortion clinics, arrested women seeking to get abortions? The sky would fall!"

Finally, radicals on the Left could use the fight over homosexual marriage as a club to beat on religious believers and conservatives who refuse to accept it. They'll be marginalized for being politically incorrect, labeled bigots, possibly charged with hate crimes.

Bruce recently authored a book, "The Death of Right and Wrong." She says the kind of hate crime law specifically created to shut up religious conservatives "...Keeps you from being able to verbalize especially when it comes to your faith, what you think is right or wrong. That's the death of right and wrong. It is now a hate crime to come to judgment."

Joseph said, "They'll come into our churches. They'll want our priests to marry them. And we'll be discriminated against. We're going to be the odd ones."

Bruce says there is an actual anti-church plot afoot among some of the most radical homosexuals, who actually believe Christians are out to get them. "There is a very vocal contingent that says, 'Yes, let us co-opt the institution of marriage because we recognize that it is one step in many in an attempt to destroy the meaning of faith, to destroy the church, to destroy the institutions of the church, and the meaning of it for those evil Christians out there who want to put us all in a camp."

Marshall said, "If the family's redefined, then obviously, anybody who's not in lockstep with this, anybody who does not agree with this, is by definition a bigot. And discrimination? You bet your boots!"

Bruce said, "The next step will be to force the Catholic church to bless them, to shut down any church's ability to refuse to bless these marriages."

Triangle Television, Auckland's non-commercial television channel, celebrates two years of broadcasting on August 1.

"The station is now well established with diverse programming and a growing level of local content," says Triangle Television CEO Jim Blackman.
