People expect QBID to go up to 5 cents tomm or next week. If that does happen which is possible, there will probably be many profit taking and the stock will come back down as fast as it went up. The way I see it is, let this stock climb giving people the impression that it will not come back down to these levels and everyone must buy "now". I like seeing a stock slowly advance upwards and at the levels we're at now it can only go up.. We are the pioneers! And lets say you get in now but you dont want to be a part of the long run with us...Then sell it when it goes to .005! Take your money and run. Things happen for a reason & I stumbled across this stock because its a great opportunity! Maybe you stumbled across it because you were meant to get rich! IP: Logged |

Tuesday, March 30 JOBS | RESOURCES | RAW NEWS | JARGON | ARCHIVES | ABOUT US HOME > RAW NEWS Showtime Networks Creates Multi-Million Dollar Advertising, Publicity and Marketing Campaign To Support Season Four of 'Queer As Folk' Motorola On Board As Exclusive Six-City Event Sponsor; Cast to Attend All Screenings
New Ad Campaign Debuts Week of March 22 NEW YORK, March 29 /PRNewswire/ -- In a move emphasizing its commitment to the QUEER AS FOLK series franchise, SHOWTIME has mounted a multi-million dollar, multi-faceted advertising, publicity and marketing campaign to support the return of the network's groundbreaking drama, which premieres its fourth season on Sunday, April 18 at 10 PM (ET/PT). For the first time in the history of SHOWTIME, the network has partnered with Motorola as the exclusive sponsor along with SHOWTIME key cable partners to host preview screening events in six major U.S. markets including Miami, New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco. In addition, the premium network's media campaign rollout will include cable TV, mainstream and gay publications, outdoor advertising, cross promotion with the Third Season DVD tour, a multi-city nightclub/DJ tour and promotion on the SHOWTIME QAF fansite at SHO.com. In measured media alone, the campaign is generating over 200 million impressions, which does not include all the targeted gay and lesbian tactics. "QUEER AS FOLK is one of SHOWTIME's signature series, and we're polishing our marketing efforts to reflect how resonant the characters and their issues have become since its premiere in 2000," said Robert Greenblatt, President, Entertainment for Showtime Networks. "And, it is the perfect opportunity to celebrate with our cable affiliates and a prestigious sponsor like Motorola." Motorola, a global leader in wireless and broadband communications, has enjoyed a long association with both the producers and cast of QUEER AS FOLK throughout the show's tenure. The company has signed on as exclusive sponsor of the multi-city premiere tour to demonstrate its support of diverse programming such as QUEER AS FOLK and its many viewers. "Motorola is pleased to support SHOWTIME in the launch of the 4th season of QUEER AS FOLK, said Robert Williams, General Manager PCS Retail and co- leader GLBT Business Council of Motorola. "This sponsorship provides a unique manner for our company to not only reach a key demographic but to also educate our consumers on the importance of diverse programming." The six events, hosted by Showtime Networks' Chairman Matthew Blank and Entertainment President Bob Greenblatt, are being platformed to draw media and consumer attention to the fourth season's 14 new episodes. The new season will emphasize the maturation of the series' main characters and storylines focusing on parenting and adoption issues, gay marriage, drug addiction, HIV and discrimination. Richard Licata, Executive Vice President, Entertainment Public Relations for Showtime Networks, and his team are spearheading the six- city market outreach and publicity for this season's launch. The event schedule is as follows: March 26th - Miami - Delano March 31st - New York - Gramercy Park Hotel in the Cobalt Club April 2nd - Chicago - Sidetrack April 7th - San Francisco - Castro Theatre and Redwood Room and Asia de Cuba at Clift April 8th - Atlanta - Red Chair April 14th - Los Angeles - Regent Theatre and Asia de Cuba at Mondrian In addition, cable affiliates in selected markets have contributed over one million in advertising to support the launch of the 4th season of QUEER AS FOLK. The April 7th Castro Theatre event in San Francisco will have a unique promotional component: SHOWTIME will bring together the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities, screening the season opening episode of QUEER AS FOLK in addition to the season finale of the new hit drama THE L WORD. Working in collaboration with the San Francisco-based organization Bay Area Community of Women (BACW), the city's news-making recently-married gay couples will be special guests. Stephanie Gibbons, Senior Vice President, Advertising and Promotion for Showtime Networks spearheaded a new advertising campaign for the series, highlighted by images from photographer Norman Jean Roy. The key artwork features the cast communicating the interrelationships of the characters and the intertwining layers of their stories. In addition, new taglines have been developed, including "The original comes of age," "Get Folked," "Damn Straight" and "So Gay." "The original comes of age" slogan reflects the series' new emphasis on deepening character development, and also reinforces that QUEER AS FOLK was the groundbreaker in the current wave of gay-themed programming. The tagline "Get Folked" assertively tells the viewer to tune-in to a new season, but it also lets them know that QUEER AS FOLK is still sexy, edgy and provocative, even though its characters are maturing. SHOWTIME plans to run advertising on cable networks including MTV and VH1. National print advertising will appear in general market and entertainment publications including Entertainment Weekly, US Weekly, Vanity Fair, Cosmopolitan, Details, Jane, Interview, Paper, New York Magazine, Cargo and MTV Magazine and alternative newspapers such as Village Voice. Tune-in ads will also appear in the national TV Guide, along with TV supplements in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Print ads will also appear in gay targeted outlets such as The Advocate, Curve, Genre, Girlfriends, Out, Instinct, Passport, Metro Source and Pride 04 as well as in gay/lesbian newspapers in the top 10 markets. The network will also support QUEER AS FOLK through outdoor advertising via billboards and bus shelters in New York and Los Angeles. SHOWTIME also recently completed a promotional tour for the launch of the QUEER AS FOLK third season on DVD. Cast members made appearances at music and video stores in New Orleans, Dallas, Boston, Cambridge, Philadelphia and Lawrenceville, NJ. To promote the Season Three DVD signings, each market was saturated with radio and newspaper ads, and supported by local radio contests. Showtime Networks and Embrace Productions will join together to bring QUEER AS FOLK to life by recreating Babylon, the vibrant club scene featured in the series, through a 15-city DJ tour entitled "Midori Presents Queer As Folk - Future Babylon Tour." The tour will take place in the spring and summer of 2004 at the hottest nightclubs across the United States, and will feature popular and forward-thinking DJs who have appeared in QUEER AS FOLK episodes. In each venue, Embrace and Showtime reinterpret what Babylon may look like in the year 2050. QUEER AS FOLK is also being supported by its own comprehensive Web site, which boasts an extremely strong and loyal message board community. Viewers who enter the site will be treated to comprehensive episode guides with weekly teaser video clips. Additionally, the site boasts extensive behind-the-scenes content, downloadable screen savers, event listings with cast appearances and links to various community resources for the gay and lesbian community. Fans can also register for regular e-mail updates on the show and shop the QUEER AS FOLK store to purchase DVDs, soundtracks and more. Pushing the boundaries of television, QUEER AS FOLK launched on SHOWTME in December 2000, and presents a world that is rarely seen with such candor and honesty. The series, which ignited the recent explosion of gay TV programming, has always addressed important issues affecting the gay community, and takes on some particularly relevant subjects in its fourth season. Struggling with same-sex parenting, discrimination, AIDS, HIV, gay marriage, drug addiction and even their own mortality, the characters are maturing and beginning to face the complexities of life. QUEER AS FOLK stars Michelle Clunie, Robert Gant, Thea Gill, Gale Harold, Randy Harrison, Scott Lowell, Peter Paige, Hal Sparks and Sharon Gless. The series is executive produced by Ron Cowen, Daniel Lipman and Tony Jonas. Cowen & Lipman developed the series for American television based on the British series created by Russell T Davies. Sheila Hockin serves as producer. The SHOWTIME series is from Cowlip Productions, Tony Jonas Productions and Temple Street Productions. Motorola, Inc. I noticed TradeTrek forcasts QBID on an uptrend the next several days. .0027 is looking very attractive. I have a buy at.0025 for today. Come on Baby! I also noticed something interesting. The chart shows a flat line of near .0001 with volume under 100 million. Then all of a sudden a burst in price and volume is 2 billion. Price stays above .0010 & and volume continues to be over 200 million. Today's volume is low BUTMY POINT... Obviously word is spreading, more people are investing into it and with volume holding over 100 mill a day, we're poised for a HUGE jump up. I wouldn't be suprised seeing volume in the billions very soon. Be patient and you will smile. IP: Logged |

THANKS FOR POSTING!! ------------------ DIANA -------------------------------------------- Ok now we find out, again after 70+ pages in three different threads, only a few days ago and again today did anyone confirm that it never came close to $1... only 0.45... Still a great number, but no where near the 'facts'. Did you ever look into that claim? You say there's no hype, even after someone posts a Bart Simpsonesque stream of something completely untrue (a forgivable misunderstanding in reading the chart..no insult to U4 intended), and you hop in with "great post! people don't use their brains.." huh? People have been hyping this magical $1 number they hit a few years ago, and no one bothered to check and realize it wasn't true. What other 'facts' have we been hearing about that also aren't true that no one has bothered to check? Btw I read through all of the posts in all of the huge threads here. All I see are internal PRs and photos of some random empty office. I didn't see anything official from T-W. They have all of their press releases online, and there's nothing about TTN. So don't tell me to read the threads... I already have and I'm still looking for answers. As for the bounced emails, I also had a techie friend check the info on the domain. Didn't get anything like what PLF got... I'm going to have another friend do some more digging on that to see if I can replicate his findings, but right now all I came up with is the same stuff that pharmdman found. Think it's time for the hype to turn into an honest look at some of these discrepencies and unanswered questions. Hope I'm wrong and the company takes off and my chunk of shares goes through the roof, but I'd rather find the facts first before I get taken for a sucker. -R IP: Logged |

Where do you see this $8? I see this thing topping out at .45, never even reaching one dollar. Back on 9/15/99 QBID opened at .33, highed at .45 and closed at .38 Never seen the stock get any higher than that, but even that wouldn't be too bad if you're holding a million shares. Well I am now finally seeing the light. There are only two stocks in this whole group that have any chance of going big time. QBID and IBZT. (I will hold CMKX just to see for only $1K.) I just dumped all the others and throwing everything on just these 2. No more buying of anything. Will just hold these two. All the hype I here and the charts look great are total B/S. TA is B/S. The only thing that means anything is the product and its possibilities. QBID has great potential and if they start up the big time is here for us. If no go so be it. All my eggs are now in two baskets and will stay there. You all can keep doing all the hype and TA on all the other stocks but wake up and become a QBID big time player. Up we will go. New support level at .0027 to .0029. IP: Logged |

Hi guys, I havent bought any of QBID.. yet. Ive been watching it for about a month now, and havent seen it budge too much, some though. Whats the big thing everyone is waiting for? I see all the talk of $.$$ but this hasnt hit a penny yet! Im not bashing, just asking legit questions to determine if and when i should join the QBID club. lol. Diana,, are you out there? I have free'd up some more money in my account... I'm a little unsure where to put it. I have about half of my $ in QBID. I mean I'm a believer... but y'know it's the ol' "don't put all your eggs in one basket" thing. Do you guys really feel that it will jump to a penny when the naked shorting (April 1st) ends?Oh and Bart... you mentioned that you only have faith in two stocks now? What about GZFX? I mean I think there is huge potential with slightly less risk than others... conversly I don't think the reward ratio is as high as say QBID. However, it still seems really solid... do you not agree? Thanks guys! e2

OK this is all fine and dandy... I don't understand it at all tho. Why was the price of this stock eight bucks in 1996? what was going on then? Also, back in sept 2001 this was trading from 0.013 ro 0.034... still a great achievement over now, that's for sure... but that's when they came out with the network, no? Why wasn't it up at a dollar, as claimed? By that time, was it apparent that they were screwed?IP: Logged |

Do you guys really feel that it will jump to a penny when the naked shorting (April 1st) ends?I have looked at all these stocks that I can look at. Not a one is even close to the potential of QBID within the next 6 months. It could go all the way back to .0001 but the potential if they come on air is hugh. IBZT when they start selling their new products has very good potential. Not as high as QBID but close. I want stocks with a big reward possiblity. I have played around with the others and found you can make little money but not big money. I do not have a problem putting all my eggs in 2 baskets. Spread it all over the place and some go up some go down and in the end you equal out to where you were at. For me everything or nothing. Thats the way I will play the game. And it is a game. But no more but these two for me. I will just do what I do and hope it all works out in the end. QBID is a play short term 1 year and IBZT long term up to 3 years. My opinion only. Oh and Bart... you mentioned that you only have faith in two stocks now? What about GZFX? i dont think that they were as close to launching as we may think. Back then, their float was much lower than it is now. Had it been in the 30 cent range with a low float, i doubt they were very close to launching. Also, back then it would've been very risky to take stock in the gay market. Thats almost like taking stock in Iraq today LOL. Nowadays, gay is IN and its not going away. PPS may be so low compliments skepticism caused by the last "scam" IP: Logged |

The big thing that everyone is waiting on is the start up date of the programing to begin as an introductry to the 24/7 start up. The introductry programming is to start between 1 May and 15 May. This is the big moment for this stock. If it happens YAHOO if not it will be a blood bath. I am betting on it starting up. They give very few PR's. So it is a wait and see game. Like you are setting on a time bomb. This is only my opinion. I am putting a lot of money on saying it goes. My money is where my mouth is. I hope it does not end up around my butt. IP: Logged |

Thanks for the quick reply Bart!So basically what's going to happen (for the sake of my clarification) is that upon April 1st... we may see a sort of sling shot effect with some of the pennies that have been kept down by the MM's. Ultimately, they won't be able to keep them down anymore... and more apropriate price will occur? Like 1 penny? I know here's nothing certain, but since I'm new at this... I'm trying to understand the implications of April 1st. Thanks for your patience guys! Take care, e2 IP: Logged |

Actually, you can easily add GZFX & LBTT to the list.
QBID has a very strong support @ 0.0027. This is good. 1.5 months (approx) left to launch. TA usually is very good & needed for most of the stocks above $1, but very hard on micro-pennies, since everything moves more on news, hype & pumping or dumping... You are right about the fact that QBID has product & that is a very positive sign. All that we need now is that QBID comes thru their strategy & we will all be 1 happy face in this world. e2, you misunderstood bart here.. He is talking about the launch of the network. QBID is the gay tv station. If it works out, expect PPS to rise very WELL. If the station fails, expect a massive sell off! April 1st shouldnt see TOO much of a slingshot effect. If MMs were smart, most of their shorts are covered by now, or else they will just find a new loophole to work with! Either way, I dont anticipate the DATE to change anything. Overall, trading may be slightly affected IP: Logged |

I'M EXHAUSTED RESEARCH ABOUT QBID AND I SEE US SITTING HERE AT THE .003 MARK KNOWING FULL WELL WHAT'S AHEAD, THAT IS CALMING TO AN EXTENT. e2: A lot of people are putting their hopes on the MM's being finished on 1 Apr. Me myself am not to sure about that. No where have I read that is absolute. I have read that was the planned date by the SEC. If anyone has it in writting that they are absolutely finished please let us all know where to read it at? Even if they are finished with the naked short selling. They in my opinion will control the market due to the hugh amounts of money they have to play with. We play with change compared to them. As in the big market. One big player can drive it down or run it up. The thing I figure you just hope you are on the one he is wanting to run up. My opinion. IP: Logged |

The price manipulation is what you get when you have only a few buyers to thousands of sellers, and visa versa. When you trade in any pink sheet stock you are dealing with the MM, not another person. So they have complete control over everything. And you KNOW they work together, even if it's not legal. The only real way out is to get off the pinks. I don't think we'll see a big difference after April 1st. They have many ways to manipulate things to their advantage. Sorry to be a pessimist, but the little guy almost always get's screwed. That being said, it sure doesn't stop me from buying and hoping events such as good corporate news overwhelm whatever the MMs can do. And I think QBID is one of the few that can overcome them in the long run. Maybe I'm just bitter because I'm down over $12,000 this month. I'll get over it when QBID hits .01. ------------------ ~,-,-< GatorMan IP: Logged |

Although I'm very curious to why there was little to no volume up at $7.. There will always be people bashing what could be..SO, I say this... I can't speak for the other newbies... but I have been reading this board since mid December. I have been following this thread for quite a while now... however I think sometimes people still have questions. And yes we still do our own DD... but that doesn't mean we know how to interpret it. One of the reasons I was attracted to this forum... was because of the warm feeling I got when reading the posts. There is a wonderful feeling of we're all in this together/ let's help one another to this board which I love (especially in stark contrast to all the bickering and name calling that was on the yahoo boards). Not only that... but the people are well informed/ wise. On other boards you get people that really sound like they are talking out of their @$$. I think sometimes people are just going to have questions... there is something very different about talking to someone about someone vs. reading it... ESPECIALLY to a newbie who may be unsure of his actions no matter how much security is there (not to mention those whose small positions seem like all the money they have in the world lol). Myself, I've been reading articles about naked shorting... as well as the dozens of posts... for months now!! It's only now though that I think I'm starting to "get it". Anyhow... forgive us for our ignorrence Diana... lol we're just learning! e2 PS. Forgive me for all the spelling errors too! I'm tired!

I LOVE BASHERS AS LONG AS THEY FULFIL THE FOLLOWING QUOTA:1. THEY HAVE SOMEWHAT EQUAL AMOUNT OF STOCK IN THE COMPANY THEY ARE BASHING. 2. THEY HAVE REASONABLE OBJECTION/BASH. FOR INSTANCE, TO TELL ME THAT THE STOCK IS .003 AND IT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR IT TO HIT $2.00 IS NOT REASONABLE. 3. THEY POST SOME GOOD WITH THE BAD. A BASHER IS ABSOULTELY POSTIVELY NO DIFFERENT THAN A PUMPER. NOT TO SAY ALL GOOD OR BAD HAS TO BE IN A SINGLE POST BUT YOU ALL KNOW THE ONE'S I'M TALKIN ABOUT. MOST IMPORTANTLY, WHEN YOU ARE A BASHER, I CAN SIMPLY CHOSE TO IGNORE YOUR POST AND NOT EVEN RESPOND. <----MOST SEEM TO FORGET THIS ONE. NOW THE ABSOLUTE MOST IMPORTANT THING ABOUT GOOD OR BAD IN RELATION TO THIS STOCK. MY QBID IS GOING UP. SAY WHAT YOU WANT AND HOW-EVER YOU WANT. WHEN IT DOES SHOOT UP, GUESS WHAT, YOU WONT BE AROUND TO POST ANYTHING. MY FACTS ARE WHAT I HAVE RESEARCHED AND NO MATTER WHAT YOU BRING UP TO BASH UNLESS IT'S "NEW" REALLY BLOW THE LID OFF STUFF, MY STOCK IS GOING UP. WE HAVE BEEN HERE BEFORE AND HIT ALMOST ($1.00 HAHA) .50, SO WHETHER YOU SAY THIS IS A FRUAD OF NOT, IT HIT ALMOST .50. I'LL TAKE MY .002-.003 ENTRY ON A FRAUD STOCK ANYDAY THAT HIT ALMOST .50 AT THIS SAME PLACE IN HISTORY WITH A HIGH OF $7.00. ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING POINTS TO THIS STOCK GOING UP. THERE ISN'T ANYTHING THAT SAYS THIS STOCK WONT GO UP. MY QBID IS ONE OF THE HIGHEST VOLUME STOCKS TRADED ON ANY MARKET (NYSE, NASDAQ, OTCBB AND OTCPINKS) ON ANY GIVEN DAY AND WE'RE AHEAD OF MICROSOFT, YAHOO, PEPSI, EBAY! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA WE TRADE AROUND $1,000,000 (ONE MILLION DOLLARS) CASH PER DAY AS A PINKIE! <-----IS THAT A MISPRINT THAT IT'S A PINK SHEET TRADING $1 MIL/DAY; NO! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I GOT A IN WRITING NO REVERSE SPLIT GUARANTEE. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA MY QBID SHOT UP TO ($1.00 HAHA) .45 IN THIS EXACT SAME POSITION. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I GOT AN ENTRY SOMEWHERE AROUND .001-.003 AND THIS STOCK SHOT UP TO ($1.00 HAHA) .45 IN THE EXACT SAME POSITION AS WE ARE NOW ABOUT 3+/- YEARS AGO. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA QBID HAS A HIGH OF $7.00 AND I'M IN AT .001-.003 WITH A NO REVERSE SPLIT GUARANTEE! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA SOME PEOPLE HERE ARE RIDING UPWARDS OF 5 MILLION FREE SHARES! <---- UPWARDS OF 5 MILLION FREE SHARES IS THAT A MISPRINT? NOPE! Viacom in Talks to Develop Gay Network 1 hour, 29 minutes ago MEXICO CITY - Viacom is in preliminary discussions to launch a gay cable network in the United States, the media giant's chairman and chief executive said Tuesday.
Sumner Redstone's conglomerate has also "tightened up" its decency standards in the wake of Janet Jackson (news)'s racy performance at halftime of the Super Bowl. In an interview in Mexico City, where he was launching VH1 Latin America, Redstone said the decency debate in the United States had affected policies at Viacom's media holdings.
The company controls CBS and MTV, the Paramount movie studio, and Infinity Broadcasting, whose programming includes shock jock radio personality Howard Stern's show.
"I would think that — I'm not saying he got any instructions — but I wouldn't be surprised if (Stern) cooled it," Redstone said.

And then the short haired woman cheated on her 'wife,' after she'd given birth no less, and I just stopped watching. wiccawillow posted 15-Jan-2002 7:12am (quoted) reply reply to LoonyLeftist -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- They've got to have a bit of scandal. Vince was the cute nerdy one and Stuart was the randy fit one who had sex with underage Nathan. I quite liked the scandal! I noticed there was a fair amount of violence in it as well. I think the people who are making the channel are just being capitalists, so, whatever. I think I live in a (basically) free country, I don't see why we couldn't air the channel (here)... or send it down the cable lines, so, whatever. What I'm actually opposed to is the society which would support the channel... and I don't think we can really fight that. Just keep our kids sheltered from it and let it ride. As homosexuality becomes more 'out in the open,' maybe we'll start seeing it more for what it is (a behavior pattern and a subculture)... and the subculture will probably fade in significance, along with the personality characteristics. It's ironic that only by our opposition and stigmatization of homosexuals have we caused them to be so 'loud' as a social group. We really don't see sado-masochist, swingers, or even sex-industry workers defining themselves based upon the sexual behaviors they engage in... we've been somewhat more accepting of them as long as they lay low. Then again, I live in Las Vegas, no one's surprised when we find out that little Jonny's mom is a stripper... One thing that is promising and good to keep in mind concerning the knee jerk FCC. QBID has already stated that they were not nor would they be a soft core porn channel. Franks intent is to air a respectable view of the Gay lifestyle. This means Plays, drama series, Cry flicks(also known as chick flicks),sports programming, and News. This style of GayTV will be much more desired by the Gay community, and much more tolerable by the FCC, than any GayTV MTV can put together. If MTV throws together a GayTV you can expect it to be surrounded by FCC henchmen within moments of their first airing, while we are left to our own as we are trying to represent a mature audience. Another thing is sponsors. As QBID will be oriented towards an older more refined audience the sponsors will be of a higher quality. MTV's audience will be watching ads for strawberry flavored butplugs while QBID's audience will be jotting down the number to the local BMW dealership who's ad just ran.

News of Viacom Yesterday. Does anybody see htis as a problem for QBID if Viacom can get to the market first? Viacom Plans to Start Gay TV Channel March 29, 2004: 5:56 AM EST Sumner Redstone, Viacom Inc.'s chairman and chief executive, doesn't like to admit mistakes. But he confessed to one this month: The media company shouldn't have abandoned plans it was studying two years ago for a cable network aimed at gays, Monday's Wall Street Journal reported.
Such a channel now could "be worth a billion dollars," Mr. Redstone told analysts and investors, and would have cost only $30 million to launch. Mr. Redstone seems determined not to make the same mistake twice. He has ordered Tom Freston, chairman and chief executive of Viacom's MTV Networks, to come up with a business plan for the country's first gay-themed network. Viacom officials decline to comment on the channel, which is back on the front burner. It doesn't yet even have a name, though Outlet has been discussed. Viacom's renewed interest comes amid a surge in the popularity of gay characters and gay-themed shows on television in the past few years, led by the high-profile success of Bravo's "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," a make-over show that turned its five cast members into stars. The gay audience also is an increasingly attractive target for advertisers, spending nearly $500 billion a year, according to Prime Access Inc., a gay and lesbian advertising and marketing agency in New York. Average U.S. income is about 8% higher in gay households than straight ones, according to Forrester Research Inc. But the prognosis for a gay channel is iffy. Among the challenges: Some TV viewers would be bothered by its programming, while cable operators might be reluctant to add a gay-themed network to their channel lineup, especially outside major cities. Some advertisers also could be leery, even though the travel, entertainment and financial-services industries already spend heavily to lure gay consumers. IP: Logged |
