Bill, your explanation of the sales tax sounds interesting. Would state sales taxes be ended?

What about seniors on a fixed income who now buy their prescriptions first and food and other necessities with what is left over

Would detergent, shampoo and toothpaste be almost 1/4 more for them too?

The number of elderly citizens in this country has grown and continues to increase each year.

Most of these people do not own a vacation home. On fixed incomes, many have already lost their homes because of high property taxes and home insurance rates.

I don't like paying taxes, but shifting the tax burden to those who are being pushed into poverty in their remaining days seems too drastic.
Perhaps the senator has some exemptions for them in his plan.

I'm not bashing the plan--the simpler the better. This country has many problems that need to be addressed--all of these are complex. Why not start with taxes?

As for the drugs dealers, taxing their income sounds great, but first, let's force them out of business. .....but that's a whole new subject.

Costs for the elderly are huge. Take my word for it.

No offense to anyone, but the consumption is extremely dumb and thats why its in Mexico and not the US.

First of all, the tax would be in the 25%-35% range on consumption items,(and thats a conservative range). That means when you go to buy a 30,000 car, you would have to pay taxes in a range of $7500-$10500. If you buy a $1500 TV, you pay $375-575 straight to the govt. You would have no deductions whatosever.
Since you guys are investors, let me ask you, what could you be doing with $7875-11075? You could be investing it, possibly making more money for yourself. But with the flat tax, that money would go straight to the govt(car tax would be spread over the years, maybe) and that money that you wanted to invest is gone. That is what the poor and middle class will face; investing money would be gone or many people would have to spend less money, which would kill the all of the markets or kill the economy. Who wants to lead a limited lifestyle? It would serious limit the lifestyle of the poor and middle class.

On the other hand, the rich completely benefit from the tax and they would live even a better lifestyle.

If you didnt know, the Federal Tax Code is set up to "steal from the rich and give to the poor" by using phaseouts. The Federal Tax Code also provides many deductions and credits that really help the poor and middle class and sometimes the rich, so people can spend money and put money into investments to make more money.

Under a flat tax, you would receive none these deductions or credits and if you spent enough, you would probably pay more money to the govt with a flat tax because there are no deductions. It discourages spending, and that itself would send America's economy down to a lower grade.

You may think that the current Federal Tax Code is vicious and complicated, but it is complicated because they have to figure out ways to reduce your taxes so you can spend more and invest more, and thats what keeps this economy on top of the rest.

If the flat tax ever gets enacted, which it wont, America would be in for a shocking discovery.

I just read that someone though the flat tax was a good idea, but it is a very limiting and economy discouraging tax.

Anyway, when QBID start getting subs, this thing will pop and Im ready for it.

The market loves first movers, suprises and the unexpected and a gay channel is a first mover, a suprise(to unknowing investors) and an unexpected event. If this channel gets national attention, I dont care what the O/S is, it will pop. Thats my input.

sorry last post by me on this...you already pay 25% in that companies income tax for everthing you buy today. its something i use in figuring the cost of every job my company does and the new tax would be 22% which is 3% less then we now pay on everything and no loopholes. every single job i bid today has 25% figured for taxes

Sorry, but thats ridiculous. First of all, 22% might be the start, but even all economist and anaylsts say that it would eventually have to put into the high 20s and 30s.

Second of all, say you make 40,000. The income tax would take, lets say for argument sake, 27%. But before the tax is calucalted you get the luxury of subtracting your adjustments to taxable income, itemized deductions or your standard deduction and your exemption. Ajustments to gross income would be maybe 2000, standard deduction 5000, and your exemption would be 3000 which equals $30,000. So now you are taxed on 30,000 at 27%, which is $8100 considering no tax credits. But the trick is that you dont have to pay the govt until NEXT YEAR, so you can spend that money or invest it to make more money, or keep saving some until April 15. In other words, you have the freedom to what you want to do with your money.

With the flat tax,you would have to pay tax on everything you spend at that moment in time, so you would be completely limited as to what you would do with your money. Say I wanted to spend 30,000 of my 40,000 of income, even with a conservative flat tax rate(25%)I would have to pay basically the same amount, only the catch is its UPFRONT so that money that I could have spent on a new TV or that money that I could have made 100% on in the stock market is gone and you are left with just change that you will have to save in order to have net worth.

Trust me, you dont want the flat tax.

America is about freedom and thats what the Federal Tax Code gives you with your money.

The flat tax is about limitations and that is completely UnAmerican.

Information from RCN 9/24/2004 3:22:58 PM
Posted By: Nobull101 Msg# 58088 of 58304

Following the release of the last PR I called Jim Downing to confirm that QTV was broadcasting in SF on channel 255. I left a message in his voice mail to call me back.

He just called me...here is what is happening (I provided his contact info for the non-believers...please call to confirm for yourselves)

The Q Television Network is broadcasting their programming on channel 255 in San Francisco.

Approximately 30 minutes ago, Downing sent an email to RCN Customer Service bringing them all up to speed on the new Channel.

He has notified the department responsible for updating the web site listing Channel 255 (The Q Television Network) He said that it will be updated over the weekend...possibly sooner. Here is the link...click on Channel line up changes:San Francisco (highlighted in red, above the channel line up)
http://www.rcn.com/cabletv/lineupDetails.php?lineupID=10

He also said that all of the other markets (Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.) will be broadcasting the Q Television channel starting next Friday (Oct 1). At this point there is nothing preventing the launch to the other markets on Oct.1...it's a go.

I asked if the other markets will come on seperately or at the same time. He said all of the market will launch the channel at the same time (Friday)

He said that SF was chosen because the Q is on the west coast.

Finally, He said that one week following next Fridays launch...The Q and RCN will promote the channel in a joint media campaigne to bring on new subscribers.

Again...please call the following number to varify for yourselves that the info is correct.

Good luck folks

Dear Frank and Steve,

First of all I would like to thank you for keeping your promises to me and putting Q Telivision Network on the air. I have always believed in the potential although as you know I have not always agreed upon your methods. Nor have you always liked mine, but the reality of it all is we all have the success of Q Telivision Network as a top priority.

I have been thinking--non stop (I know this can be a dangerous) lol. How can I help the consumer base of Q Telivision Network? I came up with this.......I have mailed you a check for $95.40. One year subscription to Q Telivision Channel. As you know I am not in the area of RCN nor in the other broadcasting area's. Indiana is SOL. Nothing new there. lol... Please use this to either give 4 people 3 free months of viewing or 6 people 2 free months. I trust you will use it in the best interest to promote the Q Telivision Network. I will continue to send you $94.50 per month for the next 12 months to help with the promotion of QBID. If it comes to my area of course I will be the 1st to order it. This is my way of helping a company that I own a considerable piece of and also one that I believe in the potential. If the pps of QBID rises considerably over the next 6 month as I feel that it will--I will send $94.40 every 2 weeks.

I know you both have been very busy working hard to make QBID a success. I want you to know that hundreds of share holders are 100% behind QBID and do appreciate the work that you have done. Thank you from the ALLSTOCKS Stock Message Boards for not giving up to the pressures of adversity. You will be greatly rewarded and remembered for your efforts.

If I can help in any other ways to promote QBID please let me know. I would be willing address envelopes or anything that would help you. Good luck and thanks again for all your hard work.

I notice that they're not listed as a digital channel. Is this because they're in "free preview mode"? Will it be digital once the signal is scrambled? Also, when the other cities go live in October, will they be given a free preview? Sorry, too much caffeine this morning! LOL

Hey JB!

I've been up since 4am... I'm already 6 coffees and 2 liters of Diet Pepsi into the day... I might actually blink again one day! .... although, I'm getting a helluva lot of work done around here!
