It seems to me that we are now in a major lull until at least June 1, maybe even until the hard launch unless they really do a hard marketing campaign. Y'all got any other pennies to watch tomorrow? IP: Logged |

I'm hoping all the newspapers will do their job tomorrow or so and correct their statement about LOGO being the first ever gay network. If that happens and QTV shows up on print ... it's over. IP: Logged |

BAD THINGS: - WHAT ARE THESE PRs? AND WHY Q-TV IS NOT MENTIONED ANYWHERE BUT BUSINESS WIRE? IT NEEDS TO BE MENTIONED BY CNN/FOX/MSNBC/USA TODAY/NYT.. (AT LEASE ONE OF THEM) • Move Over Fab 5: Q Television Has Arrived Wed 6:00am - Business Wire • Q Television Network Delivers Tue, May 18 - Business Wire • Q Television Network Announces Additional Details of Five-Hour Sneak Preview Broadcast Scheduled for Saturday May 15th Fri, May 14 - Business Wire • Q Television Network Announces Details of Test Broadcast Wed, May 12 - Business Wire • Q Television Network Confirms Soft Launch Tue, May 11 - Business Wire • Q Television Network a Smash Hit at Major Convention Mon, May 10 - Business Wire - ALL THESE PRs ARE FLUFF.. I WAS MAD AT U4 CPL OF WEEKS AGO. I HOPE I WILL BE MAD AT MYSELF FOR THESE REMARKS NEXT MONTH.. BUT THESE ARE VALID POINTS. - THEY SAY THERE ARE CONTRACTS REGARDING CARRIERS, ADVERTISERS ETC. BUT THEY DON'T ANNOUNCE.. GOOD THING: IP: Logged |

Just heard something on the radio here in CT. Rusty Humphrey started his next subject by saying: "What do all these have in common?" "Howard Stern. Janet Jacksons Boobs. BET videos which are getting to be half porn. MTV. Answer is Viacom, Now they would like to have a Gay & Lesbian channel called LOGO." HAVE. Have is the key word to me. What if QTV has been in the works & almost complete with the works. What are the chances Viacom would buy all QTV's ideas & clients?(if they have any)What would happen to the QBID stock? By the way, the guy was being negative so no need to post here. He was saying Viacom already screwed up TV & that they have a bad name. IP: Logged |

Bad Thing: CNN's 2 minute report at the close of the Headline News tonight titled "LOGO A GO-GO" with no mention of Q, just Mtv's groundbreaking in television. Those are some very valid concerns, and the weak coverage on the PR is bothersome as well. IP: Logged |

I wrote an email to IBZT the other day regarding my concerns with the Berlin Exchange/naked shorting issue, their email response, which I see as very positive: "According to Mark Perkins, Executive Vice President of IBZT, the company never made listing to the Berlin exchange. IBZT is working to be delisted from the Berlin exchange." IP: Logged |

This is the same news we got this morning, except its from The Gay Financial Network. The first paragraph sounds cool.. http://www.gfn.com/news/story.phtml?sid=15696 Q TV Will Debut in July The Q Television Network, a subscriber channel for the gay and lesbian market will beat Logo to the airwaves when it debuts in July 2004, with a "soft" launch for advertisers set for June 1. The Q Television Network says it will offer a combination of original and acquired programming, including sports, fashion, travel, health & fitness, talk shows, plays, documentaries and movies. Programming will include “I Will, I Do, We Did,” an original Q Television documentary exploring gay and lesbian marriage in America. The company says the independent films, “An Intimate Friendship," “Straightman,” and Bette Midler’s “Divine Madness” concert are examples of what will be available on the network. The company's programming will be available on a subscription basis. Beginning June 1, the network will be available for viewing on Intelsat America’s 7, 129 degrees West, Channel 1.

Something that I've been thinking about...and it may very well be a generation gap thing...but here goes. From my first knowledge of the Q I've been under the assumption it was to be a "family" type channel with no porn, or if porn it would be very late at night like some of the other channels. My take on MTV is and always has been that it's not a family channel. And IMHO, that's a whole different concept. I believe this is in our favor. I have many friends in the gay community and they're wanting a good, focused channel that they can be proud of. Is my concept wrong? If I'm right, then even if MTV stated their intent was to have a wholesome type format, would it be accepted as fact. I would really like some opinions on this. If I've got a valid point, then would that not be a good marketing strategy? [This message has been edited by Dakota's Missus (edited May 26, 2004).] IP: Logged |

Wife just told me George Michael was gay. News to me. I guess my ears are more open to them now. The best is when I caused an accident in San Francisco because a gay guy was starring at me in the car. He tried to flirt with me so I looked away, turned to him again and he was still starring and then bang. Nobody knows but the 2 friends I was with. IP: Logged |

prime example of what you can do when you have the money behind you.
we need the same type of endorsement in a Advertiser or a carrier. once that happens the news will take us more seriously the only thing that makes me wonder about this is that if i where Frank I would be pissed that they got the big news. if we hit the news big tomorrow, everyone will figure that we are a mickey mouse company trying to steal the lime light from the MTV announcement. i think they really dropped the ball on the PR but that is my opinion IP: Logged |

Hi everybody. I remember something from CEO/Rene, like This is a swing. hold../Competition is no problem (at convention site).... Indeed. There are so very many straight channels:Namely. ABC,NBC, HISTORY, DISNEY,etc.etc.Besides, there is so big buying power of GAY.QBID needs to compete with self. Just because there are disclosure hard data and so we are panic? My thinking is: Soft launch is set for CARRIERS'/ADVERTISERS' better decision making, starting only after soft launch. Our anticipations come a little AHEAD OF SCHEDULE.It's just a lack of confidence due to QBID's previous failure I assume. IP: Logged |

You know, I'm a bit upset that Deveny and QBID haven't done more to put us in the limelite also... Who knows, maybe they have a reason for it... A good reason. However, I do feel that they could get some real good publicity out of this if tweaked in the right way... For example: a PR could read "QTelevision Network steals MTV's thunder and becomes the first GL network" ... They can even make Viacom look bad (if they wanted to go this route) with PRs like "QTelevision Network had the foresight to see a valuable market in the GL community years before Viacom. Shortly before QTV Network announced an official launch, Viacom had decided there was no buying power in the GL community (Followed up with segments from that PR that Viacom put out about missing out on this oppurtunity before deciding this was a lucrative billion dollar venture). So... I have to believe that Deveny has a fighting spirit and thier mouths are salivating at the chance to beat the big pickle... So we'll see if size does matter... GOOO LITTLE PICKLE! I'll spend a couple of weekends at Old Orchard Beach this summer. When you're really drunk with the rest of the fools after the bars close and you go out walking on the beach at night and you go in the ice cold water, it doesn't feel cold at all its pretty comfortable. During the day in the hot sun its ice cold! So I only swim late at night, LOL. I guess that I will get in on this. If you own this stock, I don't think you would be in here right near soft launch down playing your own stock causing it to go no where and if you do own it and are doing that, then how do you ever expect to make money. Where were you people when the stock wasn't doing anything. It just curious that some of you come in and start this when the stock is getting ready to run. With that said.... I think everyone is looking at this all wrong. For one thing, who says you can't have 2 gay stations. I mean there are many targeted networks out there and more then one per target group. Second thing. I really don't think these 2 company's are going to compete with each other anyway as far as content. Yes, they are going after they same target group but Viacom has to worry about image. Reruns of Will and Grace type stuff but I think they may stay away from more controversal subjects, QBID being a pay service can give the gay and lesbian community more of what they want in up to date information and documentaries on issues relating to them. I feel that there is no harm with Viacom getting involved with this. Matter of fact it might bring QBID to light with free ads once they start there soft launch then hard launch that they may not have gotten any other way. JMHO Rick IP: Logged |

I'm so dissapointed with the PR's given, with all the newspapers around, why isn't QBID splattered everywhere with a launch in just a few days. I guess we should be counting how many TV's the shareholders have since we are the only ones who know about qbid. It might justify the number of viewers Q will probably have. VIACOM has so much press right now, they make it seem like LOGO's launch is closer than Q's. Here in houston who's got the press "VIACOM" http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/features/2591772 Come on Deveneny, arent u supposed to be the masters of representation & pr's. I agree that the news about MTV does give us competition but thats ok. I agree with those of us that say there can be 2 gay tv stations. Think about the many different movie channels. HBO,SHOWTIME,STARZ,CINEMAX AND OTHERS. You cant watch the Sopranos or Deadwood on showtime and you cant watch Queer as folk on HBO. People like each for their original programming. I think having some competition will make QTV work harder to put out Quailty programming. just my opinion but I think Competition is a good thing for us.

The chocolate pickles are sold by the advertiser on their website: http://www.qtelevision.com go the advertisers link and there will be a click banner for a chocolate store. Click on the banner and you'll be at the store that sells those chocolate pickles. As for soft launch, I think it's when the channel is offered for free on a few stations to stoke people's interest. The hard launch would be the time when they show their regular programming and people pay for it. I'm not entirely sure so anyone can correct me if they want.

Hey everyone. I've been reading this last page of posts and guess what, Enough already. Mtv is front and center and we're not Who cares. The attention span of america is 2.2 sec, so any talk or press about a gay channel is talk or press for us. When we launch people will say I remember hearing about that. Not who is Q I thought is was going to be a ViaCom network? We should do this or Dev should do that, i'm just a simple printer from MN but I do know this, no one on this board including me knows how to launch a network, or bring a new network into the public eye. I know this because Frank didn't hire any of us. Most people on this tread are holding long, so this little Viacom speedbump in the long run doesn't mean much, we're all waiting for a jump in pps, that will happen once we launch! Come July we'll all be asking, whats the best way to get some of my QBID $$$ bhind this Logo. You know why? Because gay is hot. Gay sells. Gay makes money. Not alot we can do until July so just relax and enjoy the ride. Bob the superstar orange dog Queers! IP: Logged |

An important issue is the backlash for advertisers. Every story that mentions Logo also mentions that since it is advertiser-supported it will have a huge hurdle to overcome and that groups of people have promised to boycott the advertisers that support it. The gay issue is still too hot for a mainstream channel. I think they are just stoking the fire in anticipation. --> Our Qtv is approaching it the right way, as a paid subscription, flying under the radar and just getting it on air, and that is their initial KEY to success. LAUNCH.<-- IP: Logged |
