The SHO report basically puts the stock on "notice", meaning that short sales must be covered within a certain period of time. I used to be an expert on it since I was involved on a couple of stocks that seemed to be on it every single week. As far as I remember most of your large MMs view it as a negative because of the possible penalties. They will be working today to cover for sure. others will wait till the last minute.
It and the PR are definitely causing this action this morning.

If I was short, this movement would shiver my timbers!!!!! Scary Larry to watch the tortuous slow gentle rise while losing money all the time and then, guess what? I have to buy to cover and I don't even get to have fun like the longs! I buy and I'm out!
Thank God I'm not short! (house of pain!)

I would really like to see a little squeez action before this gets halted....It would be kinda funny to see it hit like $6 just before it halts.... I wonder how many MM's we would read about jumping out of windows or off bridges because they knew $15 was around the corner, and they did not cover...Poor MM's........DIE YOU BLASTARDS!!!!HAAAA-HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Margin accounts sometimes allow brokerage houses to short a stock. It could limit your purchases of a particular stock if they have large positions to cover because of the SHO report.

If your brokerage house gets stuck with an open short position and you are unknowingly trading air you could have some major problems when you go to cash in. This is why they recomend certs on margin accounts.

MMs have a large war chest.. i doubt this would significantly affect them.. it may break even with them tho.. i'm sure they have their ways of covering.. but i'm just glad we're going up =)

today has been a sight for sore eyes! . . . I've already shot a message to Chartwalker - but any of you Wisconsinites that want to partake (or anyone else close enough) - we're getting together for some celebration drinks this week in the Wausau area when this thing pops - let me know if you're interested!

If you think about it, even though ppl said they would sell less than 15 after the merger, the shorters will be the ones BUYING from the sellers, trying to cover before their mess gets worse...IMO should be a very nice squeeze......
