I just called Time Warner (Ohio) and asked them. They haven't heard of Qbid yet. I left a message with the marketing director and hopefully she will call back.

Just to make sure...when you call, ask about Q Television Network...not QBID.
They probably wont have any idea what QBID is even if they know everything about QTN.

I called but could not get through since I don't live in their area. Everyone should try to call and ask their local provider.

if you wanna confirm, dial 1-800-comcast, then a bunch of "1"'s to get to the english version, cable tv, services, order new programming, place.

I asked for Q Television Network when I called. I also explained to him that it was a gay/lesbian network. He asked me if I meant Logo and I told him no, that Q was suppose to launch before Logo. He told me that Logo was the only gay/lesbian network he has heard anything about and that Cox would be carrying them, but that he was not sure if Logo would be available in San Diego.

These people probably make close to minimum wage and aren't privy to info till it's upon them. These are not career employees that go the extra mile to be on top of their game, IMO.

And in addition to that, the only employees that will know about future directions of a company will be their top tier executives. From there it is a need-to-know stream of information.

I remember someone posting a while back that they sent their cable company a check and told them it was to subscribe to Q. Whatever happened with that? Did they cash it or send it back? This was probably many threads back, but I was thinking about it today. I don't remember who it was or if they're even still here.

odds are it will launch in the second week of july. most companies billing cyle starts around the 6th and to add a new station in the middle of the month or cycle would cost more in having to split a months payment. also it probably wont launch in a lot of areas but by x-mas i bet it will be in 1/2 the country at least. its probably sort of like black entertanment tv... the almost have to carry it or the lawsuits will mount...something in our favor. i'm in the detroit area and comcast just cleared out a bunch of channels from the pay- per view area last week making room for more premium channels... launch is great but as someone else posted earlier today number of subscribers will drive the pps and the number of advertizers. we need a million by x-mas

That was me, Smctbone. Frank told me on the phone they got 2 years of funding from "one of the top 5 houses". So maybe he got the additional 3 years funding privately. The fact that he got it so quickly sounds impressive to me. Obviously, there's some people with money out there who think the Q will be successful.

Oh, and I don't lie. Period.

I TOOK THE CASH ADVANCE AND BOUGHT QBID AT .0104. (yes even though it was heading south, I had no worries) I had a sell order @.0116 anyway.. I went to work and I was happy to see my sell order filled. BANG. $600 IN MY POCKET. CREDIT CARD PAID OFF TONIGHT. NO INTEREST CHARGED. ONLY $100 FOR CASH ADVANCE. THANKS FOR SAYING NO.

HAVE A NICE WEEKEND EVERYONE.

I DON'T SUGGEST ANYONE DO THAT!!

Think about it. $5000 at 10% interest = $500 in interest a year, plus what ever your cash advance fee is (usually 2%-5% for the amount advanced, so $100-$250) I know you said you plan on paying back the amount in a week, but you'll need to make at least a couple hundred dollars just to break even on the cash advance fee. And, no matter what happens, win or lose, you still have to pay back that $5000. Theres a reason the SEC doesnt allow people to buy securities under $5 PPS on margin. Way too risky. Your credit card company also won't give you a margin call to save your a$$, if QBID sinks. Either way, its your money. I'm just trying to install some common sense.

I did trust your input Winsum!
Just making sure we know the sources...that Q didn't publicly announce 2 year funding, and then turn around and say..ooohh wait, our bad, it's actually 5 years of funding we have.
I am veeerryy excited about this funding by the way! Maybe theyll announce sources and dollar values in the next PR...thatll send us flying.

From what I can tell from the website, Dan Rather's involvement was today:

"8:30AM – 9:45AM PLENARY

Asking and Telling: How the LGBT Debate Is Changing Politics
With a constitutional showdown brewing over the legality of same-sex marriage and courts weighing in on everything from adoption rights to sodomy laws, LGBT issues are shaping up to be a major component of this year’s presidential campaign. Do presidential candidates take on these issues at their peril? How has this changed over the years? Will they become a permanent part of national political campaigns? Our panel of veteran journalists will discuss these questions.

Coordinator: Geoff Dankert, Managing Editor, WFLD-TV (Chicago) & NLGJA Board Member
Margaret Carlson, Panelist, CNN’s The Capital Gang
Dan Rather, Anchor and Managing Editor, CBS Evening News & Correspondent, 60 Minutes II
Armstrong Williams, Host, The Right Side With Armstrong Williams
David A. Sirulnick, Executive Vice President, News & Production, MTV"

source: http://www.nlgja.org/convention/schedule2004.html

So Barbara L's interview has either happened or didn't by now...if so, a separate announcement about that would be nice to hear over the weekend, just to keep the mood up.

Hoping for an exciting week ahead!

What does "waiting" mean, I am starting to become alittle concerned here.
At least they make preference to the fact that the funding is in place.
Loaded up on Friday at .0107 thinking it wont be there again.
Lets GO QBID.

TRANSCRIPT of HOTLINE Message, 06/25:

- BEGIN MESSAGE -

"Welcome to the Q Television Network Hotline:

Due to the fact that we are currently waiting
for confirmation from the carriers that we have
been added to their billing systems, and
confirmation of the carriers' launch dates for
the Q Television Network, it will be necessary
for us to wait until next week to make a formal
announcement.

The Network had to produce a guarantee that
we have funding for the next 5 years, which is
a major requirement of the carriers. This funding
was obtained through private sources and does
not affect the shareholders.

We are currently renovating our New York sales
office, and this is scheduled to open on August 1st.
We are also currently researching the lease of a
mobile studio, so that the Network will have the
capability of coming to your area.

We'll have more information for you very soon.
Thank you for your patience, and we know you
are anxious to hear more news.

Have a great weekend, and we'll talk to you next week!"

Just a little note I found on Comcast:

MISSION:
Comcast is committed to promote, increase and improve the level of the overall participation of diverse businesses.

VISION:
Our vision at Comcast is to provide equal access and opportunity to all suppliers and to facilitate nondiscriminatory business relationships with diverse businesses.

POLICY:
Comcast has long been a leader in the communications industry. Our success has in part been attributable to the diversity in our people and products. We believe that diversity in our supply base is integral to our continued success. Comcast is committed to and believes in providing equal opportunity to all suppliers and will actively seek diverse businesses with whom we will partner.

Continuously expanding our supplier base fosters increased competition. This competition helps keep the costs of goods and services in line with changing market conditions. Additionally, small and diverse businesses help create jobs for people within the geographic area in which they operate, thus distributing wealth among members of that community.

Our commitment to supplier diversity begins at the top. Ralph and Brian Roberts have instilled their personal philosophy toward diversity throughout the company. David L. Cohen, Executive Vice President of the company, brings more than a decade of experience with diversity issues in the public and private sectors to his position at Comcast. Steve Burke, President of the Cable Division, is making the expansion of our supplier base a key part of the Comcast business model. He has communicated Comcast's vision statement to each division executive, and has charged each division to put in to place proactive supplier diversity efforts.

Comcast views Supplier Diversity not as a project or a program, but as the way we will conduct business. We believe strongly in providing equal opportunity to qualified suppliers to participate in the bid process. We facilitate nondiscriminatory business opportunities with diverse businesses. We want our efforts to result in success.

At Comcast, Supplier Diversity is just one element to our overall Diversity Strategy. Along with increasing our spending with a diverse supplier base, Comcast actively seeks to attract, develop and promote a diverse workforce; support the diverse communities in which our subscribers and employees reside; and offer diverse programming to meet the interests of our varied subscriber base.

just a reminder for the prize wise folk

at the end of the year they will send you a 1099 form on which will indicate your "earnings". You will have to pay taxes on the full retail value of what you won - not on how much it cost to win it.

other than that good luck!

Congrats to the PrizeWise winners--QBID is a winner there too. I have too few of those shares. Food for thought. . . . They fumbled around and finally launched, worked out the bugs and are now ready for the big ads for the rest of the world. Hmmm, didn't Whiz sum it up? "All we have to do is launch!" Congrats to Big Tip too--on his earnings via cash advance. Sometimes you have to go with the gut feelings. I should have listened to myself and loaded up on the TFCT the first time around. Glad all worked out for you yesterday.
