that spike you see was caused by a drop of the ask to 0.0006 in the final minutes of the day, many people wanted to get in at that price I guess and that volume spike is a result of that. 2 million of it is my order

Empathy for your bad day on kswj, captain. Only 2 losers in 2 years? Cool. Wish I could say the same - if I buy a major exchange listed stock, guaranteed that company is going bankrupt the next day.
As far as JPHC is concerned, I check this one every day I own it for RS. They are filing reports. It's been good for short term trades and Hawkins has followed through with his goals (so far).
Unfortunately, rumors/speculation are getting ahead of reality right now. I was looking for a run-up before a possible spin-off, and now peeps are waiting for a buy-out announcement. Maybe, maybe not, maybe later. I don't put value on news that doesn't come from the company. And won't sell until I have the profit I want (or RS that I don't want).

SHORT SQUEEZE - If you have been trading stocks for any amount of time, you will have probably heard the term "short squeeze". A short squeeze is actually when there is a sudden demand (i.e. buying or when a buyout is announced, or dividends) in a stock which has a large amount of shares outstanding on the short side. If the buying keeps up and starts to force short players to cover their short positions, the result can be quite sever. Buying increases the share price, which in turn tends to produce additional fear (and short covering) among short-side players in the stock market. As people rush to buy stock and cover their positions, this continue to dizzying heights until a normal supply/demand situation returns to the market. As the old saying goes, "He who sells what isn't hisn, buys it back or goes to Prison". The bottom line is that if the stock you have borrowed and sold is suddenly required, you may end up being "bought in" whether you like it or not.
ONE ADDITIONAL CAVEAT - If you are short a stock at the same time as a stock dividend is paid, don't forget that you owe that dividend to the owner of the original stock. Your broker will charge your account for the amount of the dividend owed based on the number of shares you have borrowed. Keep this in mind when shorting dividend-paying stocks.

My caluculations of OS and restricted sales by date.
9-15-2005 Last known OS is from 10KQSB 1,619,057,020 12-05-2005 Officer compensation 2005 issued : Ray Hawkins 1,209,117,280 R Edwin Kwong 756,758,440 R 2-2-2006 debt reduction 150,000,000 R 2-2-2006 debt reduction 525,000,000 R 2-2-2006 debt reduction 316,281,215 R 3-14-2006 debt reduction 150,000,000 R 3-14-2006 debt reduction 76,000,000 R 3-14-2006 debt reduction 42,000,000 R 3-14-2006 debt reduction 120,000,000 R 3-14-2006 debt reduction 220,000,000 R 3-14-2006 debt reduction 180,000,000 R 3-14-2006 Officer Compensation Ray Hawkins 67,027,027 R Edwin Kwong 52,972,973 R ______________________________________ TOTAL SHARES OUTSTANDING 5,484,215,955 RESTRICTED SHARES 3,645,156,935 ______________________________________ TOTAL FLOAT 1,839,059,020
These figures include all filings from the last 10KSB which includes the 800M S-8 filing received on 11-1-05 where the total OS was known except for the following 2. 1-9-2006 Form 8-K where the company authorizes 1B share buyback in 2006. 2-3-2006 Form 8-K where the company issued a total of 2,703,170,000 shares to Hawkins and Kwong for payment on promissory notes. These were restricted shares and the accompanied Form 4s that were filed by the officers were unclear as to the final disposition of the shares. Form 4 showed acquisition of shares and dispersal of shares at 0 cents, meaning no net gain. Even if we were to count these shares it would not change the float as these shares were restricted.
Some have calculated the amount of shares that known longs hold to be in excess of 2B shares. If this is true then this stock has been severely shorted. See the above post and keep in mind that when the buyout is announced the shorts will have to cover. Interpet this to mean that, if the longs hold, the share price will greatly surpass the buyout price as the shorts attempt to cover. Keep this quote in mind from above.
"He who sells what isn't hisn, buys it back or goes to Prison".

Patience, grasshopper. It probably won't be today.
ajman, thanks for the numbers... a lot of work there.

No.
Just kidding... someone else may be able to answer your question. I'm not sure what you are looking for. jphc is holding quite well, a little shake Friday, and maybe some peeps got out to play with other stocks.
JUPITER Global Holdings, Corp. Provides Additional Information Regarding Current Corporate Plans - Friday February 10, 10:41 am ET
"... The plans to prepare the spin-off of the Company's entertainment interests are progressing well with results expected in the upcoming weeks. As developments are finalized, terms of the spin-off will be provided. This spin-off plan is also one of the key steps for the Company preparations in becoming an attractive acquisition or merger target..."
***IMO - Unless plans have changed, Livestar (I think that's the name) will not be a part of the buy-out. This is a 'next step' in housekeeping.
JUPITER Global Holdings, Corp. Notifies Shareholders of Significant Progress in Its Corporate Activities - Monday March 20, 4:05 pm ET
"...Ongoing discussions with a potential acquirer/merger candidate are progressing at an increased pace and we anticipate a continued move towards the completion of a transaction..."
***Read all of the PRs, not just headlines or my clips from the articles. This is a work in progress, and Hawkins has never stated otherwise.
So... I bought in at low pps while MMs were getting turned around (at least I hope they were), planning to wait for spin-off PR. Notice how nobody mentions this? All the talk is about the sure-thing buy-out. When the next PR comes out and falls short of expectations, disappointed peeps will bail. I will have already sold my first order (not now).
I'll then pick up those cheap shares and wait for the PR that says 'done deal' or 'no deal'. I may have one or two trades here, depending on timeframe. (now I'll just add to the first because of my own stupidity) Both events may occur simultaneously anyway, especially with no PR this week.
Study the chart for JPHCs last run up to find the turnaround point. The base is stronger this time, but there will be more overhead resistance on this first bump. The risk is the same as last time - giving JPHC credibility. IMO - their greatest asset is having maintained reporting status. But, nothing is for sure until you sell.
We get played like a fiddle with most BBs, if they say it enough then it must be true.
Mr. Money, I can't find any definitive in the PRs. Do you have one?

I'm just saying--it is not a rumour started by unknown posters on a message board. It is based on pr's form the company itself. Whether it happens or not--time will tell.Mergers and buyouts happen all the time in the penny world-- Just look at SFTV last week. I like the risk /reward in this stock. If no buyout occurs then one can get out with no loss or a small loss. But if a buyout occurs the gain can be anywhere from 200% to 1000+%. To me it is worth the risk to hold some of this stock.

Mr. Money, different words, but we agree then? Rumors based on PRs are still rumors.
Like I said, rumors/speculation are getting ahead of reality right now.
Although I don't expect the next PR to announce a buy-out (or even details of an offer), I would be thrilled to get it. However, if peeps are pumped up and waiting for that... 'nuff said.

So the easy and relaxing thing to do would be to own "free" shares and enjoy the ride. Otherwise your blood pressure will go sky high and you'll endanger your health.
