The scope of SCE’s metering solution is to replace approximately 5 million electric meters for SCE’s residential, commercial and industrial customers (below 200kW in demand). Advanced meters have been installed for SCE’s larger commercial and industrial customers (above 200kW). While SCE is an electric utility, we anticipate that the preferred solution would provide a communications network that could be leveraged by gas and water utilities in our service territory.
The schedule for SCE’s proposed development program is shown in the figure below:

Upon successful completion of Phases I and II, SCE will file an application with the Commission seeking authority to proceed with the full scale advanced metering deployment (Phase III activities) that will be supported by our final business case analysis of the AMI system.

I Hope the CNES Newsletter says they atleast applied for this one, and not just blow bubbles.

Advanced Metering Infrastructure
Vendor Information
As part of the AMI development effort, SCE expects to conduct several procurements. These procurements will likely include engineering design services, systems integration, business consulting, advanced meters, communication networks and information systems. SCE encourages vendors to register [on this page] to ensure inclusion on the procurement distribution. Currently, SCE anticipates the following procurements within the next six months.
• December 2005, Engineering Design RFP • 1st Quarter 2006, Advanced Meter System RFI
Past Procurements.
SCE is interested in working in collaboration with vendors that have commercially available solutions consistent with SCE’s advanced metering vision. We plan to share our requirements and reference architecture as they are developed to facilitate vendor product development. We are also interested in vendor feedback on technology developments and cost effectiveness so that we can improve our business case. Please contact us at our AMI Technology Assessment office.
For those vendors with emergent technologies, SCE is interested in understanding the opportunities that your firm may provide. We do, however, have guidelines to protect your ideas as well as ours. If you are interested in discussing your early stage technologies with us, please contact our AMI Technology Assessment office and we will send you our Agreement Regarding Submission of Idea(s) for review and execution.

Sounds like a huge opportunity, someone needs to get ahold of investor relations at CNES and make sure they apply for this. SCE is an extremely large utiliy company.
Let's make sure we get heard on this one guys. Big Big Big opportunity here!

On November 4th – Our local Federal Communication Commission (FCC) laboratory informed the company that testing of the 8C H-NET™BaseStation is complete. The project coordinator has informed the company that our new BaseStation is in compliance with FCC guidelines. As a result; test reports and product documentation is being prepared for submission this month to the FCC. Based on this the company anticipates FCC certification in the month of December.

I asked if this was them doing business in Madison and he could not comment on this. He did say they are in the marketing stages and are talking to many cities and will be engaging in business deals over the next 6 months. The company did not that they were operating on almost no debt and are in really good shape and are going in higher places. He did let me know that in next months report on their site ( http://www.conectisys.com/index.html ) we will se a report that shows the systems that are out there and explain the similarities and differences between them. Well this one is on my long term portfolio and I will continue to load up on this over the next months to come. good luck to all!!

Glad to have a position here--it sounds like further developments are cooking for Nov. & Dec. and beyond. I'm a new holder of CNES as of today--so I'd appreciate any other info from older hands on companies prospects. GLTA

Yes...bought today only to round up to an even 2M. Not much I know, but enough for me being long.
Sure was satisfying news yesterday.

This news was old news to institutions, and already built into the PPS. Maybe the base station test approval will give it a bit of boost since implementation of the product will hinge on it.
And that's what contracts are going to hinge on too.
CNES' approach to AMR is so far and above all others that when it's ready to fly, it will fly.
Like I said in a previous post, the 7.5 billion shares they are holding in the pocket can be used as a 'poison pill' (for any company wishing to goble up CNES), or for dilution to buy more time if there are more delays. They're not going to use them unless needed. (they can be retired if all goes well.)
Everyone's hoping for the best.
