SMCTBONE, what state are you in? I thought NBC was Channel 4..maybe a typo?

It was a real quick 5 second pump...just saying Viacom (showing the logo on Viacom's building of course) will launch the first gay television network...Fed 27. We need QTV to step up and get their name out there.

It wasn't a news "story" per se. Every day they go through a "Bloomberg Report" summing up what's going with the DOW and NASDAQ. Then they usually briefly run through 3 or so companies that released PR or with pps moving big. They mentioned Viacom and the news that was just put out...that they would be launching the "first gay/lesbian channel on Feb 27." I'm about to email them now, maybe they'll cover it again tomorrow with mention of QTV.

Just wrote CNN "corrections" department with the real "first" 24/7 Gay and Lesbian Network, Q Television Network, NOT Logo! Haven't seen a report on Logo there yet, but no use wasting time. Gotta be proactive. "Silence=.0001"

I'm always one to look at the positives, so I thought I'd mention this. Doesn't the fact that Viacom's gay and lesbian channel was mentioned in the news reflect an interest in a network of this kind?? I doubt they would have mentioned it if they expected a backlash from the public.
lol...they probably didn't expect a backlash from us demanding that they correct their news to reflect the true "first" gay and lesbian network.

Three weeks ago, I called Frank O. at the "Q" offices, and spoke to him about advertising in local GLBT papers. I then called the Washington Blade (The Washington DC GLBT newspaper) and spoke to the only person that I could get through to.
I suggest that everyone else do the same for the GLBT newspapers in their local areas, and suggest that they call Frank or the "Q" offices to ask for an interview.
HERE'S THE MAIL SENT/RECVD
Lynne, I spoke with you a week or so ago, in regards to the new television channel that is coming out called QTelevision.
I had sent you the contact information for Mr. Frank Olson the CEO of QTelevision.
My understanding from what I have read on the internet and press releases is that they are now in the stage of signing carriers for the channel.
I also read that he (Mr. Olson) is encouraging people to call up and request the channel, to assist in getting it on as many carriers as possible.
I think that a channel specifically pointed and programmed in this manner would be of interest to all of your readers.
Please let me know if you are going to have an interview with Mr. Olson, as I would be very interested AND THE REPLY WAS
Dear XXXX:
Enjoyed speaking with you and remember it well. I did as you asked and followed up with Mr. Olson. He is quite a character!
He was interested in the Blade and the markets my company represent. That is my job. I sell advertising and I can help QTelevision take their message to the street.
I also went to my publisher with Mr. Olson's contact. I then forwarded Mr. Olson's contact info to the editorial staff of the Washington Blade.
I do not write stories. I cannot promise stories. But everyone at the Blade is aware of the QTelevision launch and Mr. Olson knows each of us. So, you did well to hook us all up. I have every hope this will be a newsworthy story soon.
Thanks... Lynne
Ask me about Placing your ad in our other markets: The New York Blade News New York, New York, The Southern Voice Atlanta, Georgia, The Houston Voice, Houston, Texas, The Express, Ft. Lauderdale Florida or Choose a glossy magazine format with the nationally circulated GENRE Magazine

It seems to me that we are now in a major lull until at least June 1, maybe even until the hard launch unless they really do a hard marketing campaign. Y'all got any other pennies to watch tomorrow?

I'm hoping all the newspapers will do their job tomorrow or so and correct their statement about LOGO being the first ever gay network. If that happens and QTV shows up on print ... it's over.

- ALL THESE PRs ARE FLUFF.. I WAS MAD AT U4 CPL OF WEEKS AGO. I HOPE I WILL BE MAD AT MYSELF FOR THESE REMARKS NEXT MONTH.. BUT THESE ARE VALID POINTS.
- THEY SAY THERE ARE CONTRACTS REGARDING CARRIERS, ADVERTISERS ETC. BUT THEY DON'T ANNOUNCE..

Just heard something on the radio here in CT.
Rusty Humphrey started his next subject by saying: "What do all these have in common?" "Howard Stern. Janet Jacksons Boobs. BET videos which are getting to be half porn. MTV. Answer is Viacom, Now they would like to have a Gay & Lesbian channel called LOGO." HAVE. Have is the key word to me. What if QTV has been in the works & almost complete with the works. What are the chances Viacom would buy all QTV's ideas & clients?(if they have any)What would happen to the QBID stock?
By the way, the guy was being negative so no need to post here. He was saying Viacom already screwed up TV & that they have a bad name.

Bad Thing: CNN's 2 minute report at the close of the Headline News tonight titled "LOGO A GO-GO" with no mention of Q, just Mtv's groundbreaking in television.
Those are some very valid concerns, and the weak coverage on the PR is bothersome as well. ~BB

I wrote an email to IBZT the other day regarding my concerns with the Berlin Exchange/naked shorting issue, their email response, which I see as very positive:
"According to Mark Perkins, Executive Vice President of IBZT, the company never made listing to the Berlin exchange. IBZT is working to be delisted from the Berlin exchange."

Looks cooler, but they haven't even posted their new PR on it.
Just a thought- not everyone has a forum for news- and we need all the information dissemination possible. ~BB

The Q Television Network, a subscriber channel for the gay and lesbian market will beat Logo to the airwaves when it debuts in July 2004, with a "soft" launch for advertisers set for June 1.
The Q Television Network says it will offer a combination of original and acquired programming, including sports, fashion, travel, health & fitness, talk shows, plays, documentaries and movies.
Programming will include “I Will, I Do, We Did,” an original Q Television documentary exploring gay and lesbian marriage in America. The company says the independent films, “An Intimate Friendship," “Straightman,” and Bette Midler’s “Divine Madness” concert are examples of what will be available on the network.
The company's programming will be available on a subscription basis. Beginning June 1, the network will be available for viewing on Intelsat America’s 7, 129 degrees West, Channel 1.
