What Everyone Needs To Know Before Watching The VP Debate
By Annie-Rose Strasser on Oct 10, 2012 at 4:23 pm

1. Romney and Ryan would eliminate health care for 31 million people who are poor or disabled. Medicaid, which helps poor Americans, some seniors, and children afford health care, is right in the crosshairs of Paul Ryan’s House budget. He proposed cutting $1.4 trillion from the program, a move that would kick about 11 million people off Medicaid over the course of ten years. The Romney-Ryan plan is even worse, and is estimated to force about 44 million people off the program.

2. Ryan considers Social Security a “Ponzi Scheme.” In the Fall of 2011, Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) called Social Security a “Ponzi scheme,” and Paul Ryan agreed. Ryan wants to privatize the program.

3. 62% of Ryan’s budget cuts come from programs that benefit low-income Americans. Ryan’s budget proposes “$5.3 trillion in nondefense budget cuts.” 62 percent of the reductions would come from programs that specifically help low-income Americans:

4. Ryan voted for future defense cuts he now blames on Obama. Though Ryan claims Obama somehow orchestrated the sequester, a series of across-the-board spending cuts triggered if Congress can’t produce a better plan, the VP pick himself was a supporter of the mechanism. Not only did he vote for legislation to establish it, he peddled the plan to his Republican colleagues and proposed a similar initiative in 2004.

5. Ryan and Romney cannot cut taxes across the board by 20% and lower the deficit because it’s mathematically impossible. Ryan claims they will achieve these twin goals by closing loopholes and getting rid of deductions for the rich. But, as the Tax Policy Center points out, even if they got rid of every single deduction and loophole, they would still need to find more revenue. That means they’d need to start raising taxes on the middle class.

6. Ryan voted to increase the debt ceiling by $4 trillion under Bush. During the Bush years alone, Ryan voted with his party’s leadership to increase the debt ceiling by $4 trillion. In total, he has voted six times to raise the debt ceiling, increasing it by $5.8 trillion.

7. Ryan wants to kick 1 million students off of Pell Grants. As part of his budget, Ryan proposed cutting Pell Grants for nearly 1 million college students. Seventy four percent of Pell Grant recipients in 2011 came from families with incomes of $30,000 or less. There is no evidence that these cuts will curb rising college costs.

8. Ryan’s budget included the same $716 billion in Medicare savings included in Obamacare. The $716 billion that Obamacare takes out of Medicare will almost definitely come up in tomorrow’s debate. Ryan has claimed that Obama “raided” Medicare to pay for his health care reform. In fact, Ryan wants to make Medicare a voucher program and proposed taking the same cuts out of Medicare in his budget. But whereas Obamacare uses those funds to eliminate fraud and increase efficiency, Ryan proposed taking that money to pay down the deficit.

9. Ryan supported economic stimulus under Bush. If he’s going to follow the lead of his running mate, Ryan will invoke Obama’s stimulus plan, the Recovery Act, as failed legislation that wasted taxpayer money. But when George Bush was president, Ryan was supportive of a stimulus, and actually made a rousing case for infusing the economy with money, saying that it helped create jobs. Watch it:

10. Ryan used to supports a key aspect of Obamacare. Ryan will likely say at the debate that the Affordable Care Act is government overreach. In fact, he might even invoke “death panels,” as he has done at recent town halls. But Ryan proposed something extremely similar to these so-called “death panels” in 2009 — twice. In December of 2010, Ryan also asked the Department of Health and Human Services for an Obamacare health care grant “for the Kenosha Community Health Center, Inc to develop a new facility in Racine, Wisconsin, an area within Ryan’s district.”

11. Ryan opposes abortion access for rape victims. When it comes to abortion rights, Ryan is among the most extreme anti-abortion members of Congress. He believes rape victims shouldn’t have access to abortions and co-sponsored a “personhood” amendment that would have defined a fertilized egg as a human, thus outlawing not just abortion but also in-vitro fertilization and some forms of contraception.

12. Ryan supports a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage. Ryan is vehemently opposed to marriage equality for same-sex couples. He has twice voted to amend the constitution to that effect, supported a same-sex marriage ban in his home state, and claimed that preventing same-sex couples from getting married was a “universal human value.”

The ONLY thing I need to know is...

When it's on
What time it's on

I will then know to watch something other than a show about two liars lying...

Interesting Ray, the post says what everyone needs to know, but its all about Paul Ryan and nothing about Joe Biden. Is Biden going to say something like "they gonna put yall back in chains!" again? How about telling a Missouri state senator in a wheelchair to stand up and cheer.

"You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.... I'm not joking."

Can ol Joe stop the bleeding from the last debate? Is he going to be an angry bully?

Will we get some more good gaffes to add to his list?

Cant wait.

Wow...Really Joe? Thats your guys' man right there.

Crying about he didnt get enough time when he got more talk time than Ryan, and on top of that interrupting Ryan? Joe was a real A$$ tonight, and Ryan played it well.

I just knew he was going to behave like this. Its classic Biden.

Its all jokes and laughs to Biden though, not too many people laughing who were watching the debate. Here is the thing, is Iran more afraid of Obama, or Romney?

PBS’ Jeff Greenfield: “Biden has always had a smile that at times is really, really inappropriate.”

Washington Examiner’s Paul Bedard: “Can’t tell yet if Biden’s smirking, laughs, eye-rolling, head shaking, works for him or not against the oh-so-young looking eager Ryan.”

Former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer: “Biden is at risk of having his laugh come across like Gore’s sighs. He should knock it off.”

The New York Times’ Ashley Parker: “Biden’s grin is Chesire Cat caliber.”

Republican strategist Ron Bonjean: “Biden laughing does not come off with the intended effect. It is actually hurting him. Looks very condescending.”

Movie critic Roger Ebert: “Joe! Stop smiling and laughing!”

Washington Times’ Emily Miller: “Biden laughing when he disagrees with Ryan is so annoying. Like a child in time out.”

Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin: “Biden’s laughing is losing the debate- obnoxious”

Comedy Central’s Indecision: “If this keeps up much longer, Joe Biden’s going to sprain his laugh muscles.”

wow, cash somebody put alot of effort to get all those quotes together so fast .....

so you think Biden's laughing was a bad thing but Romeny staring down at Obama the whole debate was 'normal"? Romney looked much weirder with his behaviour than Biden did by a mile... i dunno why so few people noticed Romney's oddness...

Ryan is not an honest person. Biden laughed at his lies... as to Biden? he has a tendency to tell the truth and people get wierded out by that- you know like commenting about foreigners owning all the 7-11's? it's true so they make fun of him for saying it....

Biden was told to take Ryan down and give him what Romeny gave Obama which he did..

i have no idea why people thought Romney beat Obama... Romney was uh dishonest, yeah that's the word... Romney was rude, he stared at Obama like a bird of prey and he interrupted both Obama and the moderator whenever he felt like it... Romney wins doing it, and when Biden does it? you think he lost? duh...

i still want to know how it is that Romeny is going to cut taxes and balance the budget... oh that's right< Romeny has NEVER promised to balance the budget. in fact i am pretty sure his plan includes the same deficits at minimum that Obama has run...

go look it up... Romney claims he'll 'create' more jobs... but here's the thing Cash presidents don't create jobs, none have, never have, never will... and any of them who tell you they will are liars... does that go for Obma too? yup.. and all these people complaining about uncertainty? we never had any certainty either... except on leave it to Beaver and the Andy griffith show ...

and heres what really matter cash, you elect romeny? and the GOP will have nobody to blame except the Dems in the senate.. harry reid will become the cause of all our problems...

Biden kicked Ryan all around the room...

so reviewing the reviews of last nights debate?

i see a bunch of crybabies.... Biden smoked ryan and all the conservatives can say is that Biden was rude to him...

this is exaclty the read i and most people took off the prez debate:

“All in all, Barack Obama was measured and cool, nonverbally, while Mitt Romney was aggressive, interrupting, and speaking over the host many times,” said Gonzaga University anthropologist David B. Givens, who analyzed the candidates’ visual cues at the request of The Daily Beast

and everyone agreed that obama lost...

so Joe Biden come along and changes his shape a little and spanks ryan on his bare ass and the GOP starts crying the blues....

this is why a can't be a GOP anymore..

the only REAL quetion now is whather or not Obama comes back with aggression, or uses this as a teaching moment to make people realise they don't want tpresidential debates to result in aggressive behaviour...

when i watched Obama and Romney debate? I did not see a winner at all. I saw Oabma being distant and Romeny being an ASS. so Biden proved my analysis and becomes an ass (whihc he is good at) last night but loses?

wake up people.... I would debate like Biden did last night, and i know iam not electable...

I think Buckstalker and Glassman has a better ring to it than any of the present candidates.

The big question is who is going to be the president and who is going to be the vice president.

How will you two decide and what will the new party be named... maybe glassstalker

LOL- i'm not a candidate. seriously. i have ideas and i am willing to share them and let other people hone them into something that people can actually use...

what has me so aggravated right now is that we are not hearing anyone address the real problems.

our real problem is that nobody invests in America anymore. what is the largest business ever in the US now? Apple? they have everythign made overseas-

they are draining the cash out of the US-

what was it Ross Perot said years ago now? “The Giant Sucking Sound?” it's become so loud now that we can't even hear anymore....

and that can only be fixed at the Investor level... noone else chooses that...

all my libertarian frinds want to blame the Federal reserve (thanks Ron paul) which is a REACTIONARY entity.

All my conservative friends want me to beleive we have either offended God or we don't know how to compete anymore..

I dunno what my liberal friends think we need to do to fix, cuz i just hear them asking why we all can't get along....

and Buckstalker is correct about all the moeny congress wastes.. but i can't see a way to run thecoutnry without income taxes.

i have learned thru hard experince that the US govt civil service is lazy and incompetent in general.... it's gotten too heavy with petty azz squabling cuz nobody in charge will actually take action to correct bad behaviour..... it's like kindergarten out there now... and ht teacher has been glued and taped to the chair in the center of the room....

I don't think it's wasted in just the gov. sector, there is waste there and other agencies are hurting now because of the freeze. But i do think it's wasted also through many organizations(special interest groups) that get money because politicians know where they can gain support easily to be re-elected.

All and all his point is fairly solid to me, because no matter how much money comes in these politicians will use it up for whatever they want.

The money just disappears, kinda like our money does when we go to the gas pump, store, doctors office etc. but we only have so much money to disappear, they can keep printing!

i don't disagree about the wastefulenss. heck i can point my finger right at several million this minute-

rather than look away i'm working on putting some peopel away... and that is the real problem, you would not belive how hard it is to get anyone to actually do anything even when you put in theri face.

it takes YEARS..... none of these people even do their jobs -
