Used to take the motor off a go-cart and go down the hill from Westover Hills to River Oaks in the wee hours of darkness. Took about 8 minutes back then. The corners were "exciting" in the dark.
No lights, no breaks, no sense.
Ever gone 85MPH out in the open in the dark with your butt just an inch above the ashpalt?

When we were teenagers in high school, before marrying that horny old man of mine, and this is a true story, we would go down to a store parking lot, a big one, for some fun.
One of us would slip on a football helmet with mouth guard to keep the stench of beer in, climb inside a shopping cart and get ready!
A friend would wheel you to the front of whomever's car we had, line you up with the front bumper, then driver would start pushing you full bore, slam on the brakes and watch you fly across the parking lot in a shopping cart!
Lot of fun, unless you hit a pot hole or something. Every do flying flips inside a shopping cart doing forty miles per hour?

Yeah, darn backbone server is crashing a lot over the past week. Few days back, all of Southern California was down.
Last night, from about midnight to seven this morning, the backbone server (Charter) was down.
I called in around four-thirty or five this morning. Talk to some ignorant pimple faced teenage boy. He tells I cannot submit more trouble reports because I have already filed some over the past week. You can imagine my reaction.
We pay a handsome price for one day service when there is trouble. Boy tells me, "A line check is scheduled but this takes a few days."
"Excuse me? Our contract states problems will be repaired in one day, no ands, ifs or buts. You are in violation of our contract," followed by a good chewing out on my part.
The ass hangs up on me.
* sounds of an explosive temper *
I call back and talk to a young girl who does not have a pimple covered face. She takes all the right steps. Service is restored one hour later.
Glad you are doing ok. All morning I have been thinking today is Wednesday. I am making green mold stuff on my brain.
I heard trash trucks far in the distance and thought, "What the heck are they doing coming around on Wednesday?" Then I remembered Glassy catching me on the wrong day of the week.
So, I check a calendar as Glassy suggests.
Well, I'll be, I am two days behind and my butt is about two decades ahead.
Over the past few weeks my Level II data keeps vanishing and will not come back. Etrade has a server which sends out a live feed on several different ports; positions, watch list, orders, order status, Level II and such.
Etrade updates their software about once a month or more. It is a Java based software which updates all the windows about every two or three seconds.
I call Etrade, boy tells me to uninstall everything, Etrade program and supporting Java, then reinstall.
Ok, sounds reasonable. So I do. No change.
To avoid having another pimple faced boy read me stuff from a manual, I write to tech support, explain this software problem with Level II data.
A boy writes back, says he is sorry I am having trouble accessing their website, tells me how to set perferences in MSIE browser, set browser to these settings, blah, blah, blah, turn off your virus scanner, blah, blah, blah. Same damn canned response you receive for any inquiry.
The boy did not even read my email. He simply clicked a button and sent a canned response.
I filed a complaint with Etrade management and will call someone in management today to give them a good chewing out.
I have to make a minimum of thirty trades per quarter to maintain that feed. This works out to be one-hundred dollars a month in commissions.
I am paying them to click a button and send a canned response which serves only to annoy me?
* more sounds of an explosive temper *
When we pay for a service, when people take our money, I expect excellent service.

Thank you for your reponse.
SG: Thank you for your email today regarding access to our website.
You have not read my question or do not understand my question. This problem has nothing to do with your website.
Please read my email again and please read for comprehension. Quite annoying to have you respond with something not related to the problem I am experiencing.
This problem is with Etrade Pro software, not your website.
I am dismissing the rest of your email as unrelated. Quite clear you are confused or inexperienced.
If you cannot understand my problem, please have a supervisor help you with your reading comprehension.
I will state the problem, again, please read carefully.
I am using Windows XP pro on a Dell 9100 dual processor. More than enough memory and hard disk storage.
I have uninstalled all Pro software and all Java applications. Both have been reinstalled successfully, with the latest available software for both.
Problem is simple and please read carefully. When I first start Etrade Pro software, the Level II display of Market Makers ID along with bid and ask are displayed correctly.
After ten or fifteen minutes, if I click on a different ticker symbol, the Level II data vanishes and never returns.
This problem began when you updated your Pro software a few months back. This is not a problem with my system. This is a problem with your software. I have been using Pro software for several years. Never had this problem until you updated your software.
Again, after ten to fifteen minutes after starting the Etrade Pro Software, the Level II data such as Market Makers ID , bid and ask, when a different ticker symbol is clicked, the Level II data vanishes and never returns.
Clearly those are working upon starting the software, later those stop working. This was not a problem until you updated your software.
Please send the port number for the feed for Level II data so I can check that port. Be sure you send the correct port number for the Level II feed, not some other function; port number for Level II feed.
Again, read carefully. This is not related to your website, this is not related to a browser, this is a problem with your Pro software.
If you respond again with unrelated information, a complaint will be filed with Etrade management.
Send the port number and send related helpful information.

Translation: Our all male programming staff really F-d up and a lot of customers are mad about this. However, we are men and will never admit to being F-ups thus my downplay, denial and attempt to distract through unrelated issues.
You see? An assertive woman will, at least, elicit a confession from men, possibly effect a cure for a male thinking caused problem.
Girlfriends! Always kick ass on those boys. Do not ever allow the boys to shrug you off as a simple minded woman who likes to whine.
