No, no options. And I've only been playing with small amounts. Small amounts that I have found are adding up to BIG losses. (well for me, anyhow, I know some of you folks wouldn't think them big losses)

Little losses became bigger losses when I tried to "make up my losses" with "runners". My portfolio looks like a who's who of scams.

Then, getting nervous decided to sell off some of my big board stocks so at least I wouldn't lose more money there. Then all but one of those stocks promptly went up. The last straw was that just a few weeks ago, I got rid of some PETCO for a loss cause it had been doing nothing but losing money for me. I thought if I got rid of it, I could buy more XKEM. (please don't laugh too hard) which I did and you all know how that stock is going now. And just to kick me in the gut, today PETCO was bought out and the stock went up over $8.00!! I wanted to cry.

My sweet hubby entrusted me with some money and gave me free reign with this money and I have totally screwed it up buying losers and stupid companies and falling into hype. I feel I have really let him down. Fortunately, for me, so far he lets me do my thing and he hasn't asked about how it is going. I dread the day that he finds out.

I'm in a place now, where I need to stop trading NOW. I KNOW I shall NOT BUY another stock until I am out of this mess. ...but how to get out of it.

Jo

Thanks, this is what I thought I might do. Just stop watching every tick down. Set some GTC Sells enough to break even and hope for the best. But then I think...what if they go down even more. Should I just get out, take the current losses and not look back. With some of my positions they'd have to go up 150% just for me to break even.

Two of my big board stocks GT and EBAY are at their 52 week lows, so I guess selling them now wouldn't be too prudent, since they are not pennies.

I currently hold 28 positions. Only ONE of them is green and that is FRPT.

I did make a few profitable trades since I started, but they have not been enough to stop the bleeding.
Gains: $4400
Unrealized Losses: $7500
Look on hubby's face when he finds all this out: PRICELESS

Yeah, it's bad [Frown]

But the good news is.....

I just saved a bundle on car insurance.

No, really, the good news is, I now have 30 free trades from Ameritrade because of their outage today. So now I can sell my losers for free.

Yes, this afternoon:

See this thread:
http://www.allstocks.com/stockmessageboard/ubb/ultimatebb.php/ubb/get_topic/f/8/ t/023220.html

Edited to add: YOu have to call them to get the free trades, they won't give them automatically. They'll look at your account to see if you are a frequent trader. Just call and complain.

jo the ability to laugh at yourself is a priceless gift.

why not hold what you have and do nothing with it right now, unless something goes up then sell it. take this weekend and read threads on this board and others carefully and gain as much info on whats hot and whats not. take next week and practice paper trading with your new info and, when you have your confidence back again, try trading for real again, get as much info as possible, go with your gut, and watch your picks closely so you can dump them asap if they tank. set stop losses if you trade online.

hope this helps and good luck to you.

Jo, do not sell your big board stocks. Those are
down because of geopolitics and our economy. The
major indexes, like the DOW, all have fallen
severely over the past three days. This effects
almost all big board stocks. Your big board stocks
will move back up over the next six months.

On your penny stocks, consider starting a new
thread, a topic of your own, over on the Hot
Stocks board, maybe a topic like, "Need Help
With Stocks." Some of us will go over there
and help you. List maybe five to eight of your
stocks. Opinions will be offered on those. Later,
you can start a new thread on more stocks.

You do not need to discuss those stocks, simply
list the ticker symbols. All will afford their
opinions regardless of what you write, so just
the ticker symbols. We will ask questions as
needed, such as how much did you pay per share.

The boys here and I will help you, right boys?

Certainly the boys will not allow their prides
to be hurt by watching Purl Gurl the only to help.

Taha

I think Jo will enjoy more attention over
on the Hot Stock board. Some people are
afraid to come over here.
