OK, all: You're the Prez.
Your advisors tell you a CAT 5 Blow is headed in...to NEW ORLEANS!
Does that not trigger a full-blown emergency response? Gulf/oil/city-below-sea-level (which you personally cut levvy-maintenance funds from)/historic-cultural "brand name."
Surely to Gawd, somebody read Natl Geographic piece, extrapolated from FEMA's own data?
I mean, what do they get paid for?
I'm equally stunned by the devastation as I am by the apparently IGNORANT repose of foreknowledge by those we PAY to plan for these disasters. If i hire a someone to do a job? I check to see if s/he can do it...then? I let em do it!
I assumed that was the case in this clusterphuk...my bad.

that's not what happens in a "free" society....
Bush has set himself up as fearless leader....
he's gloated and refused to admit to any mistakes..when ANYBODY does this? they are going to get heavy criticism when they screw up...
the idea of a military forced evacuation for a possible threat in this country won't ever work... say the 'caine pulled a Felix after the military tried to force an evacuation in 48 hours (another ludicrous logistical suggestion cuz they couldn't possibly set up in 12 hours) and dissipated? then you would still have egg all over the white house..
face it, Bush wouldn't be getting this heat if he had been honest about the Iraq war from the gitgo....come to think of it??? we wouldn't even be there if he had been honest about the Iraq war..

in reference to blaming Clinton for 911????
Bush had the same intel on his desk and ignored it too.. the towers were a target before, and the FBI HAD one in custody already BEFORE 911..
Just after the 9/11 attacks, top Justice Department and FBI officials disagreed over whether Moussaoui, 35, a French citizen arrested while taking flight lessons in Minnesota in August 2001, was to have been the 20th hijacker. His indictment does not identify him as the 20th hijacker; it accuses him of taking part in an al-Qaeda conspiracy to attack U.S. targets.
also??? this: Washington, D.C., 12 April 2004 - President Bush on Saturday, 10 April 2004, became the first sitting president ever to release publicly even a portion of his Daily Brief from the CIA. The page-and-a-half section of the President's Daily Brief from 6 August 2001, headlined "Bin Ladin Determined To Strike in US," had generated the most contentious questioning in last week's testimony by national security adviser Condoleezza Rice before the commission investigating the September 11th attacks. Dr. Rice continued to insist that the Brief did not amount to a real warning, while several commissioners seemed to think otherwise. blaming Clinton NOW don't feed the bulldog.. OH? and by the way?? osambinalivetoolong is still alive and free...

Tom Clancy goes to the White House in this thriller of political terror and global disaster. The American political situation takes a disturbing turn as the President, Congress, and Supreme Court are obliterated when a Japanese terrorist lands a 747 on the Capitol. Meanwhile the Iranians are unleashing an Ebola virus threat on the country.

i understand what you are saying about the levy budget but,,if you look into that levy budget you will find that the state has been using less then 20 percent of that money on the levy.the rest was just pissed away on other "more important things" hell the levy doesnt lets build a park and plant some pretty trees.Even better lets build a methadon clinic.

marty, the difference between this and what happened in fla. is that two days before the strom in fla the govenor of fla knew that he was in way over his head with the evacuation and called in for fed assistance and he got it. that is the way it works.if the govenor had not called in for help the feds would have no choice but assume the the state goverment has everything under control

another case to point to is the wild fires in cali the fed could not move in untill govenor (gray) at the time asked for help when he finaly called the fed went to work.
the biggest thing that we all can learn from this is call your local goverment and find out what their emergency plan is.ALWAYS be on the ready to move. Have a plan for your family to leave quickly. most importantly PLAN PLAN PLAN. self reliance is the real key to saving lifes

Before the storm was even close to the shores, I watched on tv both the Governor of Louisianna and the Mayor of New Orleans saying bluntly, over and over, that they were not able to protect the people of New Orleans and needed help from Washingtoin. In response, dubya prasied his political appointees for making snide remarkes about Cindy Sheehan. They screamed for help....dubya and his cronies ignored them.
The funding for the maintainance and reconstruction of the levies around New Orleans was never available to the local governments for them to misuse on parks, as you claim! The entire budget and responsibility for that work lies with the Corp of Engineers. Those levies and the funds to maintain them are 100% a federal responsibility and always have been. Stop building a house of lies to cover for the abuse of the security of the people by these crooks that President a-day-late-and-a-dollar-short-but-always-ready-to-give-another-hand-out-to-Haliburton appoints.
