QUEER STOCK FOR THE STRAIGHT GUYS AND GALS LESSON 1
1. Contrary to popular believe, most gay guys are masculine and enjoy all the butch sports and activites you straight guys do.
2. Most gay men do appreciate and admire beautiful, strong women.
3. Most gay women are not the butch gals you may think they are. To be sure, all of them like to see hot women with good bodies dancing and carrying on.
4. The gay culture is all about camp. If it's campy, we like it. So for those of you wondering about some of the programming appearing on QTV, just keep that in mind.
5. Public service announcements/ads. In our community, just as in the straight community, we have a huge problem with drug and alcohol abuse. The public service ads appearing on QTV mirror those that appear in print ads in all gay publications.
6. Finally, there are other gay lurkers that read this board. I've noticed, as people get more and more worked up about the pps, that some of the comments about the "gays" and what "we" do are becoming inappropriate. Please watch what you type.

Just the usual response from TW. I call at least once a week. They tell me that they have received (and continue to receive) many requests for QTV. I'm sure it's just a matter of time. 50% of the population of PS is gay, so this will be a huge market.

West Hollywood Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem Blast Ford Motor Company for Ceasing Business with Gay and Lesbian Publications
WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 8, 2005--West Hollywood Mayor Abbe Land and Mayor Pro Tem John Heilman have sent a letter to Ford Motor Company Chair William Ford expressing extreme disappointment at the company's recent decision to stop advertising in gay and lesbian publications.
The letter states, in part:
"Though you say that this is 'purely a business decision,' it is apparent that this shift is in response to pressure from a blatantly prejudiced, anti-family group; ironically self-titled the American Family Association (AFA). By bending to the will of an organization like the AFA, the Ford Motor Company has aligned itself with a group that uses fear and promotes bigotry. American families come in all shapes, sizes and colors and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people and their families are just another example of our nation's rich diversity."
An absolute 'overbite'!...there was no need for this article for it fell short of the truth and is merely a bark for political attention within the GLBT community.
The mayor's public outcry for the GLBT community only displays the sensitivity to their own vulnerability because of their over protection of the 'feelings' of their community.
To say we are discriminating against the GLBT community is absurd. There has come a time that the big three must drastically scale down and become more effecient to stay competitive in the auto market.
We still have, and will continue to have, ads for certain vehicles in gay media. Also, if we were discriminating, then why do we still have gay employees.
It is a business decision!. It's a major reduction across the board to survive by diverting monies toward more profitable manufacturing concepts and products. And sadly enough, its going to take closing down 10 plants and cutting off the financial security to 30,000 Ford families.
30,000 families with Ford alone!!!...thats not including GM and D/C.
So, for those like the mayor's of Hollywood who dare cry the insecurities for those in the GLBT community that really NEED NOT CRY because of their continued efforts in developing a strong position in society, which by the way have been in long and successful strides recently, shame on this accusation. One might even sense a tone of selfishness.
Let me say this, I'm being polite here, but if my union brothers and sisters were to reply to this article today, more than likely they would all tell the mayors to go to hell.
Personally, I know where the true sympathy lies. I am fortunate to be employed at the No.1 Ford plant in North America, but to those employees losing their jobs, my fellow union brothers and sisters, I say god bless them all.

Great post QBIDCountry. Especially #6. There have been a few comments that have made me cringe lately. Also in regards to #2, something else that I found amusing the other day. A friend and I were comparing our various movie librarys and genres and he and his partner have more Jenna Jameson movies than my wife and I do! I was jealous!

Not to discount the messages, they are running PSA's because they don't have that many paid advertisers during daytime/prime time. It's called filler so the shows will hit their time slots.

Thanks for doing it! It has been funny at times seeing how some folks talk about "the gays" as if there was this monolithic group of two headed aliens that we hoped liked to watch tv.
I live in an intown neighborhood in metro Atlanta and I love our neighbors. We have plenty of the stereotype nellies, but then we have the ex-marine, republican, Bob Jones Univ. graduate guys living near us also. Not to mention the gay rugby club that started up a year or so ago. It was hysterical when my wife tried to set up one of her single girlfriends with one of our neighbors before we knew any differently about his preferences! LOL
gay/straight, we're all wierd.

Can't quite understand what is happening here. At current levels and 60b in outstanding, the market would suggest qbid to be worth only 12-18 million. Can't see that being possible with everything they have done.

People keep saying everything looks cool to the carriers, concerning QBID financials. So that leads me to the question that, if they can show everything to the carriers why the delay showing stuff to the shareholders, besides the severe case of indifference that seems to dominate the managements mentality?

Perhaps the carriers were not shown, or do not care about share structure and Frank knows we will be. I still beleive that he has it somehow set up to be first in line when the company sells and that he will end up with well more money than the 53% he owns would otherwise give him. This could be easily done if the prefered he owns has cumulative dividends and they are significant. The scenario I see could be QTN sells, the owed dividends are paid on the the preferred shares and very little is left over. Parinoid? Perhaps.

I know many people who think I'm nuts for surfing in 47 degree water.!
Dusty the last time I went surfing must of been 15 years ago off Eva Beach in Hawaii while visiting my cousins. We were all out waiting for the waves to come in when all of a sudden I turned to see a shark fin above the water only 30 feet away.
I freaked and caught the very next wave back into shore, which by the way was only about two feet. Man I had to lay down and paddle while having to stay in front of that little wave.
I was never so damn scared...thought it was a big ordeal until I got to shore where I found the local kids laughing at me. hahaha Even my cousins were laughing, yeah!...while still sitting on their boards out in the water. They were shouting and calling me a chicken, saying the sharks wouldn't bother me. I guess they were used to them being around in the water.
So standing there, out of breath, between the local kids laughing and my cousins shouting for me to come back in...I opted to get a cold beer out of the cooler and watch instead. And since that day, I have never had any desire to go surfing again.
