im not surprised, whining , worked up, or even complaining.
Im prepaired for Frank to be Frank. i have felt this way since last week.
Just being realistic and stating what i see happening.
Again im hoping im wrong, but Franks history is there and im seeing yet another poorly handled event. I am upset, as i would have made arrangements to be there if i knew for sure i could have attended. But i will not spend the money to fly down from Canada to be disappointed at the fact that i made the investment in time, cost of flight and time off work, hotel expences and so on to find out that i have come to a open house of the studio, instead of a conference.
if infact there is confrence, that will be great. but my point is, that he has made it impossible for me to guaranty that i could be in attendance.
I admire Doc for his commitment to go to the open house, and hopefully he is successful in being available for this conference if it happens.
to recap, Im not surprised, im not worked up, im not whining, im just down heartened at the fact that we have been left hanging on the conference.
the day that he announced that there would be a conference with room for 200 in the audiance, i was excited that maybe i could be there for this.
now the date is here and still no real guidance as to where and whether or not it will be held.
Good luck with the visit Doc get some good picture, grill them for info and best of all know that i would love to be there, but couldnt justified the cost versus reward on the trip.

micro Good point. I understand that everyone handles stress in their own way, I respect everyone's right to express their opinions here . . . and if anyone can prove to me that whining improves any situation, I will gladly join in. Until then, I respectfully request that everyone hold their whining to a minimum.
Please allow me to post a couple of my favorite truisms: "You can tell the size of a person by the size of the problem that troubles them." And the classic Yogism: "It ain't over till it's over."
Le't wait for the results of Tuesday's meeting before we lynch Frank.

kakali You can express your anger for any reason you want . . . and you don't need my permission.
But it appeared to me that you were expressing an "anti-gay" opinion. And that is never acceptable, even when the company is a gay network. Accuse Frank of anything you want, but leave the gay-bashing out of it. Your disagreements with him have nothing to do with his sexual orientation.

I'm not going to try to read into the "whining" comments bottomliner and micro, since i'm not sure who you are referring to.
I do not think i am above anybody to tell them how to act, but you can "respectfully request" anything you want.
i do think that the promised "shareholder meeting" not taking place or even being addressed in a professional manner by the company is something worth discussing, as it speaks volumes about Frank's ability to run the company and follow through on promises that ARE WITHIN HIS CONTROL.
other things- carrier announcements etc, are out of his control maybe- his own studio and shareholders meeting? WITHIN HIS CONTROL, or at least i shoud hope.
And Richard's inability to professionally communicate with the investors is absurd.
Further, if the "shareholders in type" meeting were to even take place after the open house- we are talking AFTER 6PM EST?!!

I wonder if Franks communicates to the potential carriers the same way he does the shareholders? Maybe they don't want to do business with Frank due to his lazy way he conducts business.

Fast forward in your imagination to next summer.... It's only 8 or 9 months away.
It's a beautiful summer morning and the Gay Games are set to begin in Chicago.
Q is now widely known across the country. Time Warner has picked it up in many cities. As well as Dishnetwork, and Cox has expanded coverage.
There are now many subscribers.
There is a buzz about Q's enjoyable and unique programming.
Many investors have jumped on board since the release of the audit and subsequent official move to a higher exchange late last year.
Q is profitable and institutional investors have known it now for months and have raced to jump on board.
The city of Chicago is enthusiastic about the economic impact of the Gay Games and many high profile companies are advertising through Q.
The media and community have branded Q as the voice of the glbt community, a well-intentioned network that has won the affections of both the gay and straight communities.
You then take another breath.
Sip your tea.
And look up the price for QBID.
This makes you smile... and breathe... easier.

BB, good points. I think it would have been better if Frank didn't mention a meeting and just left it alone. Then he wouldn't have been on the spot to come through on his word. I thought he could at least pull off the type in thing. I'd be more POed about this than I am, if Q wasn't making the strides that they are from the business end of the buugy whip. I just hope that his incompetence toward us stops at his inability to come through on dates for meetings. Somebody said there is a simulcast, but the announcement of the details are yet to be seen. Time is running out. Info should have been provided already. I'm just being realistic too.

Enough with the name calling maestro...
Clyde has a valid concern here! Frank has NOT been forthcoming at all with infomation in regard to the S/H meeting. His grandeous plans have dwindled down to the point now, that many people are left wondering if there will be a meeting at all. IR person does not respond, if there was a conf call, meeting, or whatever, the plans/reservations should already be in place an confirmed. With the lack of confirmations of place and time, I seriously wonder when the S/H meeting is!
IMHO, we get one more "Letter to the Shareholders" PR on Tue Oct 11 detialing how sorry they are that the meeting was postponed again, "...but so many positive things are happening here..." I am tired of the lines they feed us and am ready for some follow through. Please remember, it is the shareholders financing his business, and the way Franks treats the man with the checkbook is quite appalling. We can only hope that he treats the carriers better, but we will never know!

gay games & great tv shows & personalities & content... satellites. yup, they're doing great.
it's QBID that is stinkin the place up, and this was the opportunity to clear the air with the investors, you know, those people that have held the stock for almost 2 years? those people who see all this great Qtv stuff but watch the stock pps sink with questionable trades?
and aint no cuppa tea gonna fix that. an audit will.
a delicate process to bring it to the attn of the country? GIVE ME A BREAK! "oh, please, no press I'm still trying to woo time warner!!" heheah.
i'm just being realistic too Dig! and now I am off for a long weekend.

Clyde I wish I knew, but I have to assume Frank is a wheeling-dealing businessman more than a smoothe-talking "people-person". He must be doing something right because Q has made some significant progress over the last year. Unfortunately, he has failed to tell his shareholders many of the details.
However, in my opinion, shareholders should be a CEO's least important audience . . . and they usually are in most companies. First priority should be customers (in Q's case carriers) which create income. Shareholders are just silent partners . . . and "silent" is the operative word. We have no say in any decisions, other than our personal decision to own shares.
Tuesday should be a significant day for us. I hope it's very positive, but I cannot believe it will be as bad as some are saying. GLTA.

ok ok guys....i am definately one of the people to blame for this infighting between us, but i say we all calm down...we all understand everyones point of view...valid points from both sides...
i am going to stay on the sidelines from here on out until we either 1. get instructions on how to get into the simulcast shareholders meeting
or.
2. get a response saying no meeting...
No meeting and i will be pissed off..
Yes the instructions should have been put out a long time before...and im sure they are scrambling to get this in order now...but all they are going to have to do if release the time and how to get into the conference...we all know its gonna happen tuesday night, and its at your computer, so we just need to know those 2 things..
sorry for being rude and imposing before

I think it's CEO 101 to balance their interest in growing a company by keeping employees, investors and their target market happy. FOT is right, shareholders should be respected not tolerated.

BB I was not aiming at anyone in particular, and I was not criticizing anyone. Sorry if I came off negatively, because I respect all opinions posted.
I was just pointing out that expressing concerns about the unknown or about events we cannot control (commonly called "whining") is a waste of time. As shareholders, we are silent partners in Q's business, and the operative word is "silent". We have little, if any, say in Q's business. Frank may be concerned about our concerns, but I doubt if he conducts business based on our comments.
In his defense, most companies treat their shareholders the same way . . . although some companies communicate with shareholders much better than Frank.
Am I forgiven? I don't want to be assigned to the "outcast" table when we get to Vegas.

CEO 101 says if you have controlling interest in the company, do whatever you want. No matter what Frank does he will still get 50% of the selling price of the company.

LEO See what happens when you leave all us kids alone? We don't play well together.
Just kidding, folks. I'm stressed by Q's PPS as much as anyone . . . but I handle it differently than some of you. And my way is not better than yours, just different. So I will reverse my earlier comments about "whining" and advise everyone to do whatever makes you feel better.
I'm going to follow BB's advise and take a long weekend too. Tuesday should be a busy, interesting and hopefully exciting day. GLTA.

the open house should have been planning way in advanced; especially since the company announced the set date. the open house is on tues and the so called invitation was sending out this morning??? what kinda of arrangement was that? to me, it should be read like, we have an open house but s/h you are not welcome. how does the company run other business affairs? the world does not run business that way, does it ! or we would be all into bankdrupcy. i am hoping that tues will turn out good reports for qbid or a massive sell-off on wed.
