rajthebam after reading my post..i can see where the term "short pop" is confusing..sorry..thats just my california slang..what I ment by this is a quick move up berhaps even within 1 day..what I was looking for was for it to go up to about 17.25 or so and then make a quick 120 bucks..oh well not today..

thanks soangel and morpheus for that explanation. I believe I have a fair understanding of how this works now. thanks. I dont have margin account yet coz i dont have 2K in scottrade but will soon and can't wait to get in on these....i guess the more you do them better you get hopefully i still have cash around me... :-)

rajthebam not to worry..even with the the resources to short the market..you can still build your bucks with these..the 1st 2 are some of my favorites...market goes down they go up..that is their design..its funny..some time on on the back 9 with my buddies and im feeling good, even though the news says "dow down240" and housing and finacials are tanking ...how can i feel good about this? cause im betting on the correct side of the play..you can too..heres another swing tip..."down monday, up tuesday"..or inverse.."monday, down tuesday"..somebody out there knows something..its a great pattern..i love love love it...heck it out for yourself..there is piles of mola to be had..what resession? remember..cheap is the stock with no movement..

morph: srs skf fxp and others you mentioned are all ETFs and I have never done them before and they look expensive anyways for my taste unless ofcourse you play options in which case you don't need all that capital to begin with.
only if i had some more funds in scottrade, i would have been in on the TXT and made some money for sure...I picked the right one but didn't buy it due to lack of funds...have you guys felt the same in the past ever?

options are very tuff to beat cause of the spread..i recommend stay away..better off playing the big numbers..lack of funds can be tricky too...you must build build build the correct way..look for key entry points..like F at this point looks great for a 10-15% jump up. BZH looks good too..i alos like DENN and KKD alos take a look at SMG..I just bailed on X * 133.60 and made good mola..rolled into JBLU * 5.60..look at it this way..ive told you before..its not the "price" that makes something "expensive"..its the percentage of the move is what you are looking for..example being; you have 1000 bucks..and you are looking to increase that..correct? So you are looking at 2 stocks..Co. A which list for 2 bucks and Co. B which list for 90 bucks..Now a nubie as yourself says "gee 90 bucks, that sure is expensive, i cant afford that at all"..so you jump into the Cyber Vegas game and buy Co. A * 2 bucks and get 500 shares....now 2 weeks have passed (or what ever time frame) and Co. A is now listed * 1.50 a share and Co B is going for 105 bucks a share..Now I ask YOU...which stock is more expensive...answer...Co. A ...why? cause it lost YOU money...(750 dollars portfolio value with the 500 shares of Co. A and 1175 bucks with the 15 shares of Co. B) so lesson here is..dont look at the "price" what you are looking for is which stock is gonna go in the direction im predicting..there are clues everywhere, think outside the box...and do yourself a BIG favor..stay away options..it seems like the thing to do but stick with just trading big dollar numbers and you are better off..rembember this ..stocks are like the horse track..there are guaranteed 10 winners each and every day at the track, graranteed..only problem is..which horse is it gonna be?

Nerves of steal....yes I do! I sold my BAC today at $30.07. Then sold BAC short at $30.20....then was forced to cover at $30.45 then bought CEGE at $0.94 and covered at $0.98 then bought back in at $0.946 and covered at $0.995.

NO DO NOT BUY CEGE Rat. You will lose your butt plus you don't have enough funds to make any money. I dropped $12,000 on CEGE when I flipped it each time. Ameritrade wouldn't let me short the stock back down either..... I would of road it both ways.
Short Play.....ZLC.....$27.22. Cover at $25. I am only using logic here and more nervous since it hit a 52 week high but think I will short it anyways. Its only money.

i love the chart...but im REALLY thinking we are headed for some down days after today..so a short look good for now..im gonna play the "down monday, up tuesday game with this one" meaning my long entry could be monday at about 11:20 am pst..if it plays out that way..im out all longs for now...might jump all over SRS in a bit

by the time you point out couple tickers to this board, they are already up and i can't get in either one of them...i just want to be in something i can be in and out even today itself...any ideas?

weeellll...here is the way i see things.. Raj..remember those "clues" i talked about..here are some real good ones 1. 3 day weekend comming up..market closed monday 2. 3 good dow up days in a row , look at the dow chart for 6-12 months..when was the last time we had more than 3 up days in a row yet alone 4? 3. we are in a supposidly "bear market" and the last couple of days are a trap..whick im incline to aggree 4. HURRICANE bearing down on the oil rigs..only by the time the market open up on Tues. first day of Sept. will the news be all over its damage and oil up??? 5 usually..oil up..airlines down and housing down. 6. today is thursday and if you are gonna play this game you have to look foward.. Raj..do not be in a hurry to loose your principle..take it slowly..in and out in 1 day is really risky..but sometimes you have no choice. I look for thing interday that have gone way way way down on little to no news and then roll the dice..buy a bunch and limit my downside best i can..seems to work for me..
As for right now..im feeling the "clues" and im out all longs SRS and SKF are great plays if you cannot short stocks, cause there nature is to do th inverse of the market trend..ETF trade the exact same way as all others..
im liking SRS, SKF and short JBLU for airlines and MBI for financials..just givin it a little bit more time today..the DOW is still strong.. im not feeling bullish at this point.. That is the way Morpheus calls it

by experience..CCNA and NTCNA..(thats cisco and nortel). ran all around the world on their dime during the late 1996 till 2001 build what is now the internet installing fiber network gear..after the IT and DOT BOM debacle I actually got laid off (I was stupid to think I was Immune)..I just worked locally for a few years in the network services as a contractor..ya know routers ans switches and VOIP..but all that messes with my head these days..so for the last 2.5 years..just been sharpening my trading skills (30 years as a hobby) now Im "director of investments" he he.. and trying to make 15-20 % on my principle each month and then pay my bills with that..works for me..live on the cheap, not too extravegant..laptop with cell service internet..starbucks as my office..and board meetings at some of the local country clubs and muni courses here in westlake village CA...this is a really golf friendly place to hang..inland from malibu about 8 mile into the mountains..great weather..well the DOW is up 192..looks like im ready to "roll the dice" hang on..
