Well, actually no , I sold even though I thought it would go up before the 16th. I'll probably get back in this summer. I sold at 4.44. I needed the cash to take advantage of QSII. They appear to have missed earnings but if you examine the report you'll see this as an excuse to take profit, drive the price down and be back in before Mar. 3. Shareholders of that date will be rewarded with a 2:1 split.Last year when they split 2:1 it was hardly a blip on the price. They don't have that many shares outstanding as it is. I think around 13 Mil. But, I had to get some before it starts moving back up. May get to $61 before it turns.

Any of you have any thoughts on CMGI. I'm wondering why its in such a slum right now. It has closed at a new 52 week low several times now. A close at $1.30....WTH???? I have a $1.399 average with almost 17,000 shares. Running out of money now. If any of you have any thoughts please let me know....this stock is a sound company and everything looks great but this trend. Could we see $1.20-1.25 again like it was a few years ago????

Hey RIMan! They won't release their 2nd quarterly until mid March. I think it will be very good news but it's not for another 4 weeks. There you have it. Unless some press release comes out before then which is always possible. I think if you sell on a loss though, you're going to be kicking yourself. Then again, what do I know?
By the way, what's the R1 for?

The R1 is the motorcycle I have....a 2004 Yamaha YZF-R1 1000. The above link is me at the track last year.

That is one hell of a stock tip ABRAM!!! I barely dropped the last time it had a split. They're paying a cash dividen.....and a stock split....don't see how you could go wrong here. GREAT PICK!! Keep up the good work!

They're a lot of fun....Its insanely fast in the 1/4 mile and top speed....I took it up to 197 mph with GPS to verify the speed....my speedo only goes up to 189 mph and its digital. They have Suzuki Hyabusa's going past 260 MPH....of course with heavy mods. I jump on it when I'm frustrated or just bored...it really helps clear your head and relax you....providing your not riding in heavy traffic. Well enough with the bikes.
UMC had awesome news come out:
I can't read the news but on www.cbsmarketwatch.com They have news out at 3:40pm stating: $ UMC's Profit More Than Doubles - [at The Wall Street Journal Online]
Taiwan chip foundry United Microelectronics (UMC:NYSE ADR - commentary - research - Cramer's Take) said fourth-quarter earnings rose 129% from a year ago to $94.1 million, boosted by strong pricing. Sales fell slightly to about $850 million but came in above estimates. Shares slipped 2 cents, or 0.7%, to close at $3.02.
Just that alone is awesome....after hours its at $3.09.

Sold already....I'm loading up on your stock pick.....QSII. I dropped over $10,000 in it already. They are paying basically 2.5% dividend if you buy today or friday and the 2-1....that is SWEET!!
QSII to be elgible for cash dividend you must buy no later than Friday 2-17-06 and hold it until 3-16-2006.
QSII to be elgible for the 2-1 split, you must own on or before 2-27-06 and hold it until 3-24-06.
Abram....the above dates are accurate must buy and hold dates. I missed my own pick NGRU buy date and missed out on the dividend. So I know now how it all works. Speaking of NGRU....I was going to buy some at $0.25 monday.....kicking myself now....$0.40 now.
Ladybird has picked some drug companies to watch...and I agree with them....not sure in entry points but I would be ok to buy 1,000 shares of each and sit back on them. Here is the list:
CMGI is moving up now....1.32 x 1.33....about time.
RGR is growing hot.
ARRS is peaking out....$13.19...up 39.70%. INNO jumped 25% yesterday....sold it and ran!!

Personally I won't trade drug stocks(unless I can see a positive , without a doubt cashflow) but for me that NGRU looks really good to get and hold. After they paid that .85 distribution, it got smacked. Now the very ones that smacked it down accumalating. I too have quite a bit in QSII. Can't do too much as I only have so much. But out of the above , I'd buy a large chunk of NGRU and hold about a month or two.

This is the general rule about dividends and splits:
Trade Date + 3 days to meet the Record date.
This is because your broker turns in the registrations stating who own what. It normally takes 4 days for them to get the list.
I got burned on NGRU....The record date was the 1-17-06....ML said I had to own it on the 11th to meet the record date of 1-17-06. They also said I could sell it after the 17th and get the dividend....saying I had bought it on the 11th...which was a lie also. My father found that out the hard way. He bought it and meet all requirements and come the 1-27-06....his account showed a $0.85 a share gain then the 30th it was all taken away since he sold on the 18th. He lost about $100-200.
I normally hate playing these type of plays since you can't sell it until its worthless....sort of like NGRU....speaking of the subject....I can see it moving up but not yet. If it survives $0.39-0.44 for all next week, I will be suprised!

Ohhh well....I don't think it would fly with my wife even if I had the time to do it all. She would SCREAM!!!
UBET fell today after earnings came out. $4.68.

QSII had a $4.00 rise today, R1Man, are celebrating already? CMGI has turned and is in the beginning of an uptrend. Congrats! Yeah, too bad about UBET. But it will turn around too. Good thing we got out huh? I'll be looking at it later though as I believe they will continue to grow their market.

Spongebob, you remember FST with 1 post. You've been lurking a long time. I believe FST had some health problems and immediately cut all ties with stressful, time consuming things. I hope he's enjoying life , I loved the common sense way he had about explaining how he traded. He was clear enough that, you knew he had no hidden agenda.

CMGI.....I am considering dumping 1/2 at $1.50. This really has potential to run back to $1.60-1.70's. I have a bad habbit of taking all profits without leaving a little equity left over. (Sell only the shares equal to what I paid and keep the rest as equity). As for the dumping half, it really depends on how bad I want to swing trade....I'm not used to having all my money tied up like this even though I know its the right decision.
Welcome back SpongeBob....what was your old name....I have been here for a VERY LONG TIME. March of 2002. This is a new name since I forgot my old password and my email address has changed.

SIRI.........had a big drop in price.....should be good for a small run....$5.31 AH.....exit is $5.65. Reason for drop is negative earnings.

I have ML where the bulk of my money is....(401k). But I use Ameritrade. However, www.choicetrade.com is definately the way to go....providing they offer service to your state. The other hot one is www.scottrade.com.Posts: 2367 | From: Detroit | Registered: Mar 2005

I have used Ameritrade in the past, but switched to Scottrade. More economical and keeps me from trading OTC stocks because of the extra costs. They have killer research. They're connected to several reseach sites like Reauters , hmmm, can't remember how that's spelled, anyway, .
