heh, i heard one of the announcers say, we'll see if she can "turn this trick" when she was re-starting in the lead near the end of the race.. i think he needs to be set down hard for that one.... if he'd said that about my daughter on natl TV? we'd have some "discussions"

Here's a thought! Remember the post about account at Ameritrade being free because no transactions on 20th and 23rd......could this be because of concern over this?

I have been ignoring this one, has anyone asked their broker about homeland production shares... I never even thought of it.

Does this mean that anyone on record as of 5/9 will get the shares and the ex-date isn't in effect? They got paid on 5/23.

If that is the case, this could have all been planned.
1) spin assets into Homeland 2) 4 days later screw up GVRP 3) hold shares but release enough to cause a major short issue. 4) shell takes the hit and Homeland takes the proceeds

i'm thinking ex date doesn't apply because there would be no trading afterward--hence only the record date would apply ???
"Sometimes a company pays a dividend in the form of stock rather than cash. The stock dividend may be additional shares in the company or in a subsidiary being spun off. The procedures for stock dividends may be different from cash dividends. The ex-dividend date is set the first business day after the stock dividend is paid (and is also after the record date).
If you sell your stock before the ex-dividend date, you also are selling away your right to the stock dividend. Your sale includes an obligation to deliver any shares acquired as a result of the dividend to the buyer of your shares, since the seller will receive an I.O.U. or "due bill" from his or her broker for the additional shares. Thus, it is important to remember that the day you can sell your shares without being obligated to deliver the additional shares is not the first business day after the record date, but usually is the first business day after the stock dividend is paid."
as I'm reading this now, our gvrp shares came with a double-dividend and a twist...without an ex-date, the Homeland divvies are still attached to split shares I'm due, which leave fractionally as I sell blocks of gvrp...ie, takes 3mm gvrp to = 1 share of Homeland.

very good tex. that is why i bought into this play to begin with... the spinoff i consider to be a bonus...
posted May 17, 2005 17:26 glassman: yes it does, and if people sold them thinking they would get the post-split shares? i think they might be in for a surprise... share divvies usually follow the shares... it's best to keep them till you get your dividend...
i have a lot of non-trading stock in my accounts... they are worthless, SORTOF
i wonder if we can sell 'em on e-bay LOL

don't expect the shares to show up with out a fight...
just another issue if this does go to litigation...
we are probably due them, but since it was going private? they may just "forget" to distribute them....
i never really expected to see them because there was no ex-date asociated witht them.... if the make us fight? then we'll throw it all at 'em and see what sticks....
looks like Mark is out front for now

So, there is a chance that we who bought before the payment date could be eligible for these Homeland shares? That would be a new wrinkle. (Sorry, been away from the 'puter for a good chunk of the weekend. Just trying to catch up.)
