Just watched the DVD

I expected it to be dufferent and thought it would discuss more of the financial standpoint, it was basic and covered clips from their shows in various settings. Their studio looks great, appears very new and up to date and Frank comments on a few things but not very lengthy. But al least they held their word of sending the DVD

I also want to add the filming is professional and the shows look interesting esp the one with jack e jett and their news show as well. A number of hot ladies are on there, well now that i think of it, i hope they were chicks. ha. It would have been ideal if it was at least 30 min and got into specifics, but im not sure of the original scope of the DVD to begin with

That's good to hear, but the DVD was supposed to answer investors questions and concerns. There was supposed to be some meat and potatoes, like financials and sub numbers. None of that?

None of that answered. As it was narrated and skipped around show to show, It showed clips of Frank seated answering questions but he wasnt specific, there was one part mentioned about the stock and all he said was that the stock is trading low because of this.. pointing to all the high tech equipment, which i must say does look great, but not sure if thats the answer. They also quickly go over the Gay Games soon to be arriving. Overall the DvD highlights their shows, which certainly would appear to capture the interest of many as they do look well put together.

OK Franks words throughout the entire DVD for those who didnt see it yet

When we came and bought the studio, we did it all. Taking a television studio and making it gay is absolutely a pleasure that few ppl experience, it allows u to create and be gay.

The gay community is a revolving communtiy and its good about gay television and we can show them the heroes of yesterday

The carriage is growing and ppl are accepting it, they like the shows and what we are doing

We are not a television station to be watched 24 hrs a day we are a compliment to your television veiwing

Our job is to give u a gay fix by live television, giving u sports, wich goes into the gay games promotion

Some of the sharholders want to know why the stock is down its because of spending money buying all of this( cameras, studio etc), which is more money than we take in.

Ok people, I was told that the website was being rebuilt to include an entire section on financials. I was also told that Triangle Multi-Media will NOW be included on the website to prove the relationship. I know they were interested in putting up the current share structure and relevant changes as they occur, but I don't know if that will happen right away. I would be pleased to see company financials on the website and would hope that an updated audit would soon follow. I believe that no financial info was put on a DVD because it would be more available to the general public (current and potential investors)on their website. Mark my post, if you have to and REMEMBER it.

i saw that too...

doc mentioned something about the site too

I went back to the 9/15/05 letter to shareholders and found 2 interesting paragraphs. First the one about the DVD:

“It is my intention to put all of this information on a DVD that will be available in the near future. I believe that education and information about Q Television Network’s activities and progress will be key in helping to raise the stock price and increase overall awareness of Q Television Network.”

Yes, it took only 4 months to accomplish that. But, Frank DID deliver on the DVD. Well yeeesssss, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE FINANCIALS!!!!!

Second paragraph below the one quoted above:

“We will begin very shortly with a new page on the website outlining our financials, specific breakdowns of deals we have put into place and all necessary information the shareholders should view. This will outline our accomplishments and will aide you in mapping our future plans of becoming the most powerful GLBT network in the world.”

Maybe all this talk about the new web site is TRUE? A financials page that can easily be updated would be wonderful!

Now that's funny. USPS mail maybe carried by FedEx, er FedUp, planes or trucks but do you think it will get the fastest mode while FedUp stuff sits, I think not.

In fact: Much of the packages sent by FedUp, UPS and DHL are DELIVERED BY USPS. Check it out.

LMAO

.

Ummm considering USPS pays fedex billions of dollars a year to *SHIP* their packages. Did i say that fedex delivers USPS packages, noooooo i said that "most USPS mail goes through fedex", which would imply FEDEX ships the packages. But apparently you need me to spell things out for you in lamens terms, or should i draw you a picture so maybe you could understand a little better.

No where did i say Fedex "DELIVERS" USPS packages, get your facts strait, or is this yet another attempt by you to distort information to suit your own malicious means for either self amusement or selfish motives.

Good day.

I did not say "Fedex "DELIVERS" USPS packages" EITHER. In fact it was the other way around. I said FedUp packages were DELIVERED BY USPS.

In fact: Much of the packages sent by FedUp, UPS and DHL are DELIVERED BY USPS. Check it out.

Still LMAO

Not for nothing, because I, probably like many others feel impatient (even after holding into my 3rd/4th year now). Especially the longs & the ones who came in on the high side too. But the truth is this feels like a rubber band about to snap.
a) either snap & break apart; or
b) snap and bring us further than before.

Frank is most definitely outspoken and driven. So, in his nature in that role, he probably speaks too much for his own good. One thing that comes to mind is things take time. He may blurt out things like that without thinking it out.

...eg: in my industry things can go a few ways.
One: A small project is planned for, people put things together and we provide the service. (2-3 days total)
Two: A medium size project is planned, I work a little harder, make more demands from production & things get done.
Three: A huge project is planned. a) it takes discovery with all parties for the desired goals, planning and cost analysis - many people & many questions and lots of time pricing it. b)If OK, agreements are reached & implementation begins - usually weeks or months after initial contact. c) testing for desired output continues until final approval. More weeks of work. d) Finally, once all systems are go, BANG! full fledged production. Many systems a go and away we go (then billing occurs which is the real happy time)

Some of these things Frank blurts out must take tremendous amounts of time & resources to make it happen (The DVD for one. He probably blurted it out WAY before it was ready to produce, copy & mail. Imagine if this was the first time anyone including his staff heard of it. They may have been wincing in their chairs.) Sure, manking money & establishing the station are his goals (as well as our goals too) Some projects are the small type, others the medium. But overall, it's the big one we ALL want to see.

I think patience will prevail as long as Frank learns some wisdom (which may be the case since there has been much quiet from Mgmt/Frank lately)

Anyway, this is more than I wanted to input, just some logic I am trying to apply. GLTA! Can't get much lower (I hope)

And when's the last time you've heard about Native American topics in the news...

I'm going to attribute that remark to your youth. It's a big country with lots of markets to serve.

Here in AZ we hear Native American news topics every day.

AZ's only Native American news reporter, Mary Kim Titla, just left a lucrative network position to start up a news service for Native Americans.

Small, narrowly defined markets don't have many potential subscribers. However very specific marketing will draw high numbers within that group because it is so focused.

Main page content: Gay cable TV is in the pink

When Sumner Redstone, chairman of Viacom, endorsed the notion of a gay and lesbian cable television network, viewers soon got Logo. With the backing of Viacom’s MTV Networks, the largest and most powerful collection of channels in the cable universe, it was beamed into millions of homes around the US.

An unexpected beneficiary of Mr Redstone’s pronouncement two years ago was Frank Olsen, a little-known broadcasting entrepreneur from Seattle. For more than a decade, Mr Olsen had been toiling to start his own gay cable network. Despite spending $12m from his own pocket, there was not much interest until Mr Redstone chimed in.

“You would be amazed how many people listen when Sumner Redstone speaks,” Mr Olsen recalls. “The whole thing changed.”

Indeed, after launching last July, Mr Olsen’s network, Q Television, is now emerging from the muddle of independent cable networks desperately seeking distribution. Q is available in over 3m homes, and is expecting to lock up distribution deals for 15m to 20m more by the end of this year.

A turning point came in November, when Time Warner Cable, one of the largest operators, awarded Q a so-called “hunting licence”, which has allowed the network to approach its 30 regional divisions around the country to seek distribution. So far, that has brought Q to such diverse markets as Manhattan, Houston and – as of this month – Lincoln, Nebraska.

“I think probably even the Q TV people were surprised they got such a nice response here,” says Beth Scarborough, the president of Time Warner Cable in Lincoln.

One could point out that Mr Olsen, who has dubbed himself the “king of gay media”, had been working on Q for more than three decades. After selling the family bakery, Mr Olsen used the windfall to buy radio stations in the early 1970s. In addition to rock and roll, and news and talk radio, Mr Olsen also began to run gay programming.

The shows were reasonably popular, he claims, even though the broader environment was not hospitable. “The advertisers were always worried about how many customers they would lose for every one they attracted,” says Mr Olsen.

A lot has changed since then. The mainstream media is now full of gay characters and gay programming, from television’s Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and Will and Grace to the film Brokeback Mountain, a cowboy love story that has become an unlikely Oscar front-runner. Companies such as Volkswagen have launched advertising campaigns specifically geared toward gay and lesbian customers.

The economics of cable have also evolved. As the industry matures, operators are looking for niche networks that can add incremental subscribers who might later be enticed to buy add-on services, such as internet connections.

“Cable operators see themselves as supermarkets, and they have to stock their shelves for everyone,” explains Carol Hinnant, vice-president of sales and marketing.

Rather than shooting for a broad audience, Q is only hoping to sign up 1 to 2 per cent of the households in which it is available. Unlike Logo, it is not available as part of a basic cable package. Instead, viewers must request it for $7.95 per month, as they would HBO. “It’s very important that we be invited into the home,” Mr Olsen says.

While it does not offer pornography, that distinction allows Q to be more risqué in its approach than Logo, which Mr Olsen dismisses as “a little vanilla”.

A third gay network, Here, also launched last year, selling its programming in a video-on-demand format.

While gaining access to the New York and San Francisco markets was a milestone for Q, some of its best success has come in smaller markets, such as Portland, Maine, which has never been known for having a high gay population.

Far from being surprised, Mr Olsen notes that more than 60 per cent of his target audience lives in rural areas. Q is all the more appealing to them because its coverage can link them to Gay Pride parades in San Francisco they might not otherwise attend. “We can be a bridge,” he says.

As it enters new markets, Q has also relied on local gay and lesbian networks and grass-roots marketing to try to reach its modest subscription goal.

In November, when it launched its service in the university town of Syracuse, New York, for example, the company threw a party at a local gay bar. The event, which coincided with the university’s annual Homecoming Weekend, honoured a Q presenter, Scott Withers, a Syracuse alumnus who had been elected the university’s Homecoming King in 1995.

“What a difference 10 years makes,” the invitations read. “Syracuse’s Homecoming King is now the queen of gay television!”

This would be another GREAT thing to accomplish. Something that has been talked about for MONTHS. They need to stop talking about things and get things done. The DVD is good, WAY late, but good to follow through. Now follow thru asap with the financial page. Follow through with an audit, follow thru with more carriage, and a new CFO.

Things could be changing at Q headquarters and hopefully they start acting like a public company with 3,000+ shareholders and 100M+ in assets.

And when's the last time you've heard about Native American topics in the news...

I'm going to attribute that remark to your youth. It's a big country with lots of markets to serve.

Here in AZ we hear Native American news topics every day.

Yes, but a nationwide television network?

Riddle me this... Wouldn't an international network aimed at the GLBT community be a much safer bet?

I don't know... it just seems like an increased cost without as much of a potential that QTN has.

Also, how many subscribers do you think we'd need to make that network profitable?

Also, I'll attribute your opinion to your lack of wordliness.

Prove me wrong. Show me facts.

Bring it on.

I would imagine if they are doing NAI it wouldn't be a subscription channel like Q is. You start throwing in all the documentaries and such that already exist about Native Americans and their history and you could very well get some market share for that. At least as much as some of the other random ass channels on the cable dial now.
