As many know, i have been very negative towards QTN (Frank olsen) of late and will continue to post truthful negative actions by the company.

But, with that being said, i am impressed by recent actions being taken by the company - possible move by richard (IR) to burbank to become fulltime, search for CFO, possible stepdown of Frank from CEO position, DVD finally being shipped, PR stating 100% ownership.)

I do wonder if the company is now trying to turn over a new leaf.

In fact, to be truthful, a couple days earlier i was wondering if QTN was going bankrupt but i may have been completely mistaken.

There have been some great posts from IHUB today that i will be posting here.

these are not movies

CATHEDRAL OF HOPE
THE STYLIST
BRUNCH
IN FOQUS
BEST OF COMEDY
FLESH AND THREADS
XCESS/ACCESS
Q THE MUSIC
Q ON THE MOVE
BOX OFFICE AMERICA
SUNDANCE 2005
Q SOUNDS
BROADWAY BEAT

QTN's a great network. The programs are well thought out and both informative and a lot of fun to watch. Honey Labrador is another equivalent 'gay games' grab for Frank. She knows her stuff when it comes to fashion and the entertainment and she is an excellent interviewer. That's not only BRUNCH but also Xcess/Acces. Steve Kmetko QTN World News is an excellent gay slant newscaster. He knows his stuff and is a great interviewer. He's drawn a lot of well known GLBT folks across the country to his shows for interviews. You can see the clips of Steve's news shows on Planet Out. Chrisanne does an outstanding job with On topic. Chrisanne is a brilliant woman who knows her stuff and researches her topics very well before the show. She's attracts some really good and very interesting interviews. I'm expecting Chrisanne's show to go to an hour. Reichen's show as it turns out is a very good show. He has 2 co-hosts who sit on either side of him and they have varying opinions on the topic of the night from agreeing to disagreeing. The show is based on callers questions and comments and I've found it interesting to listen to all week. Q live is a lot of fun, a lot of fun. Robbie, being Honey's travelling companion in many media events, has also drawn a lot of good interviews for this show and he equally knows his stuff. There's something very interesting about Robbie's presentation. Saskia is well read in sports and I expect to see her role with the Gay Games increase even more than the increase we're seeing right now. Queer Edge, is "queer edge".....the folks on this show have really met the criteria, fascinating, way out there in many cases, very interesting subjects and Jack E Jett is one of the funniest people I've ever seen on tv.....Nick Oram is finally getting his material out there, last night the LA special was really informative and easily could be put out on main stream tv as an interesting travel magazine.....when Wenda Watch's show hits she will also be well received I bet. She is a riot...Steve Oldfield is the entertainment review person, they also have a porn review person on frequently and on the QTN World News a legal analyst frequently shows up as a guest (same one in many cases)...

QTN to me presents an interesting slant to information being put out in the media. Much of it's focus is obviously gay related but like any other group in history following this group, the styles, history, issues, events, politics, economics is nothing less than fascinating to me. This year is going to be the breakthrough year for the GLBT community business wise. With the launch of gay media, tied in with Planet Out's reach to national and international levels (their international reach is 150 countries) the GLBT styles, history, issues, events, politics, economics will now be found in consolidated vehicles and therefore the awareness created from these consolidated vehicles will serve to increase the strength of the march forward to equality of the GLBT community. I am most interested in the business aspect of this effort (the equality effort I think I heard will take 10 years)....but the business effort should show major advances in 2006 with QTN and it's competitors leading the way. Along with the newly introduced TWIST Gay Radio recently announced....QTN is positioned so well in this Gay Corporate effort as the vehicle that is going to help get the info out there.....and of course sticking to a 24/7 business plan they have plenty of slots to put these information programs....

Post #of 209274

Just spoke with Richard for half and hour. He's only considering moving to Burbank; his 'definite' move was just another Olsenism. Before he decides, he laid out some ground rules or conditions with TMM senior management. He couldn't go into those conditions with me for obvious reasons, but I am very comfortable that Rich understands the corporate governance and credibility issues that plague TMM and the stock. He acknowledged that those where the basis of his conditions. It's not money or personal matters.

Our conversations are always good; Richard is forthright in his opinion of the company and its actions and holds back only in disclosure matters. The company IS looking for a new, experienced CFO, and Richard is involved in the process, though maybe not as much as he'd like. This is why he's considering the move to Burbank; he feels his physical presence there could make a difference in getting things done right. He's told me that many of senior management's mistakes are born of inexperience and, by extension, fear. They've made mistakes, they're making mistakes, and they don't want to land in legal hot water. I told him I suspect that is why the audit results are being suppressed. Richard said he literally could not speak to that because he hasn't seen the audit, but he understood what I meant because I explained it to him: Frank has made representations to shareholders about asset values, profitability, and ownership structure that are certainly were clearly untrue. As you can see, I believe the audit exists. I have no doubt. I also have no doubt TMM owns 100% of QTN.

Rich is also involved in writing the PRs, but Legal edits them, as does senior management. So what ends up getting released is not always what he'd written, and that is a source of disappointment and frustration for him. Sometimes there are legal considerations, but othertimes Frank or Rene get overly cautious about what they want to disclose. Why, I'm not sure. Richard chalks it up to fear of disclosing things they shouldn't, but anyone who's heard Frank's long-winded blathering knows the guy sure doesn't seem cautious. Quite the opposite. Regardless, Richard is looking to become the voice of investor relations and getting Frank out of that role. Quality over quantity, and I'm all for that. I think we all are.

This post is getting long, so I'll start another one....

Richard Brown (part 2)

In case anyone didn't realize, the company is NOT going to be profitable in January 2006. This was another Olsenism. Anyone familiar with startups knew this was b.s., and Richard is in touch with a lot of fund managers who tell him that such b.s. only hurts the company. Richard knows this already, and, again, this is why he wants to play a bigger role as spokesman.

He told me there are changes afoot; the new CFO and his possible move being only two of them. If he DOES move, I'll be satisfied that he got Frank to agree to some pretty substantial and meaningful changes. Whether Frank follows through.... I warned Richard that I feared his trying to professionalize that organization might be an exercise in frustration. He's obviously more confident than I.

Richard talks often with Carol Hinnant, who's also pretty experienced and savvy and knows the shortcomings that need addressing. I told him I was afraid Carol might get the sh-ts of things eventually and leave, but he doesn't think so. Carol is having great success in gaining carriage and so far things are rolling along for her. I've spoken to Carol, and she's a shareholder too (like Rich). They paid for their shares. So we've got some good folks inside that are onboard our boat as well.

I also told him I thought they should sell LBS and use the proceeds to help fund their core business, QTN. I said a good CFO would clearly show why LBS, profitable or not, is a waste of capital and management when you're trying to get your core business up and running. Richard agreed but explained that LBS is profitable and basically pays the salaries and Frank and Rene are loathe to sell it. He agreed that it should go though, and said that down the road maybe Frank will come to that realization, too.

I'm kind of tapped out now. If I think of anything else I'll post it.

In oder for the company to function at a competent level operationally, several things need to be done first:

(1) Step down because he no longer has any credibility (wishful thinking only);
(2) Create a solid Board of Directors, who have some control over the workings of the company. As it now stands, there are no checks and balances and with a person like Frank in control, that it dangerous and the results are already seen in the pps;
(3)Admit to the investors that several mistakes have been made as the company developed. Some representations never played out and some moves were necessary for the survival of the company. However, with the company now growing, it is time to move on from a "mom and pop" operation, and this requires talented and respected people to run the business end of the company. He should then announce he will be involved in the creative development of programs but would leave the day-to-day operations in the hands of a solid management team;
(4)Develop a business plan and follow it;
(5)Establish an excellent reputation, particularly with business partners because in this business, you are often only as good as your name;
(6)Use his extremely valuable film library as equity and take out a 14 million dollar loan agains that $400 million dollar film library, buy back and retire 70 billion shares in the float. If the retirement of all of those shares is too drastic, he can use a retire/restrict formula.

As a hobby, I "tune-up" computers for friends and relatives. For free, of course. It's amazing to me how little many computer users understand about their computers. I'm not poking fun at them, just pointing out how easily these people can be "fooled" into paying for unnecessary and overpriced repairs by professional repair shops.

I've fixed "broken" monitors by plugging them into an electrical outlet, sound systems by clicking off the mute button, and computer "freeze-ups" by removing a disk from the floppy drive during bootup. Once, I "fixed" a computer that a professional repair shop declared "dead" simply by replacing the RAM module ... a potential problem that apparently never occurred to the pros.

But mostly I fix "broken" computers by cleaning all the internet crap off the hard drive. People run McAfee or Norton virus scanners that are 3 years out of date and wonder why they have viruses ... and they download every "free" offer from the internet and wonder why spyware, adware and pop-ups have maxed out their hard drive. Some of the "anti-spyware" programs people install are actually worse spyware than what they are trying to prevent ... LOL.

Anyway ... I don't envy anyone who deals with customer complaints ... because I've been there. [Eek!] [Big Grin]

Increasing the A/S to 100 billion, shows a desperate need of funds....if they were profitable, they wouldn't dilute OR increase the A/S share count....the massive dilution is very clear in the T&S (to me)....JMHO....

I deal with this carp on a daily basis. The majority of computer problems today, are caused by uninformed users, who "see" adds, links, etc that they "need" this to clean their computer of spyware, or click on links that say, "download this for FREE", or they want to get music or some other something for free. There are 3 basic rules to safe internet use:
1) NEVER click on a link in an email from someone you don't know.
2) NEVER download an attachment in an email from someone you don't know.
3) NEVER click on a link on an internet site that says "in order to view this site, download....."

All BS.... and the best of all, is to lose IE and use Firefox.....half the problems are gone.....
Very simple. It's so sad how uninformed and unprotected people are from themselves....GLTA....

Liked your post about PCs and PC owner/users. I too "tune-up" (or did), repair, build PCs for friends, family and sometimes for pay. I've steered away (for the most part) because of the hassle. Folks for the most part just want to use their PCs for whatever without the up-keep.

I get few viruses (maybe 1 a year), very little spyware and the unique thing is I do not have any AV or ASW activated (running in the background). Running AV programs actually slow a PC down. I run those programs (free ones at that) maybe once a month and then shut 'em down.

I've been using Microsoft AntiSpyware (Beta=Free) and AntiVir (PE) and like those.

MT,

Well said but, what if this was the goal all along and it has just taken a lot longer to get there? Yes I agree Frank has done some things to really tick off everyone, blew PR's, released info to soon etc, but reading back, a lot of what we have now and where struggling for did not have a place to fall until Sumner Redstone broke down that wall. I think there was a recent article that is on this thread with Franks comment about Redstone and breaking down the wall.

Up until that point Frank was fighting a huge head wind but now has an ass kicking tail wind where they moving so fast it is hard to keep up. I think that the leaf has always been there, it has just taken a lot longer to open up from a bud.

Because you're so damn "abusable" [Big Grin] (and lovable, I have to add)

Just remember, it's better to be abused than ignored. We wouldn't pick on you if we didn't care.

My most solid friendships are based on "good humored" insults. If I don't insult my friends everytime I see them, they think I no longer "love" them or that I've lost my mind. But with them, I always know how far to go ... as they do with me ... so let me know if I ever go too far.

Assuming you're smart enough to know the difference ... (that's a love tap, by the way [Big Grin] )
