ST.PETERSBURG, Fla., Nov 07, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Commonwealth American Financial Group, Inc.(Pink Sheets: CWFG) today announced that Kristin Mary Ryals has been named President & Chief Operating Officer of Commonwealth American Financial Group Inc.
Ms. Ryals a seasoned professional and resident of Florida, intends to accelerate and modify the existing Commonwealth corporate business plan, which is to invest in distressed or redevelopment projects either as the developer, joint venture partner, or lender and aggressively pursue mezzanine/interim financing commitments from contractors who have won bids already and lack the financial ability to perform/complete said contracts and fast track all of the company's in house bidding processes & pending bids.
The company will also expand its areas of operations to include Florida along with the other hurricane ravaged areas already being served by the company. The company will also aggressively pursue acquisitions or merger partners that compliment the existing business plan in Texas and Louisiana.
The company currently is considering several additional opportunities either by acquisition or mergers to augment its existing operations such as acquiring a general contracting firm with approved contracts already in place, creating an emergency services division or acquiring/merging with sub contracting firms with contracts for services to companies that already have won bids and are ready to go.
"We believe, per the initial estimated monetary damage due to the hurricanes in the communities served by the company that damages could reach several billion dollars, thus we are positioning the company to be a major supplier of services and expertise in these areas. The company over the next several weeks will undergo several divisional changes and form certain new subsidiaries and divisions to enhance the company's objectives and success while maintaining no change in the company's capital structure while enhancing shareholder value," said Ms. Ryals President & Chief Operating Officer.

Not sure if a female CEO will get any contract preference but I know gov contracts specifically address female/minority/locally owned companies getting preferences.
