International Group`s Spare Backup Subsidiary to Unveil Upgraded Service and Expanded Strategy
July 28, 2005 16:32:55 (ET)
PALM DESERT, Calif., July 28, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Spare Backup Inc., a subsidiary of Newport International Group (NWPO, Trade), announced today a dramatic upgrade to the company's online backup service that improves functionality and sets the stage for offering value-added services.
First available in May 2005, the Spare Backup service is an emerging leader in online backup for small office and home office users. Spare is distinguished by its ability to select, secure and store files online, all by itself, requiring no user interaction whatsoever. Backups are planned and implemented automatically over the user's high-speed Internet connection.
The upgrades to the Spare Backup service include: * Faster automatic selection of files to backup * Smoother backup transmissions * Virus scanning of all backup files * Manual backup option for users wanting a local copy of their backups in addition to their stored, online files The service, which comes with 5 gigabytes of secure remote storage, will remain $15.99 with no additional charge for these enhancements.
"What makes the Spare Backup service unique is that we moved the responsibility for backing up off the shoulders of the user and onto the computer. With this upgrade, Spare Backup does even more for the user, without the user having to do more," said Cery Perle, CEO of Newport International.
"In addition," Perle continued, "the Spare Backup service, with this upgrade, becomes a platform for value-added services beyond file backup. For example, Spare Backup customers will soon have the opportunity to sync files between two computers in two different locations."
The upgraded Spare Backup service is scheduled to launch August 1 and will be available for a 14-day free trial at www.sparebackup.com and through the company's reseller partners, including Hewlett-Packard and CompUSA (available on shelves nationwide in late August).

Well Buy, heres what I think. I think that they know that they have to keep putting these PR's out to keep the PPS up and to keep people on the edge, until they can release the PR with the major players they have waiting to sign a deal with.
So until the big dogs are "offically" onboard, we will continue to hear about the smaller players. Which is fine with me. It all adds up in the end. Im looking at the whole picture. Just means more exposure. The more exposure the higher the volume. The higher the volume the higher the PPS.
Keep it coming NWPO.

these are *all* good PRs. Seriously. A known and "respected" penny like, say, plni, might run for a week or more on any *one* of these PRs. We been getting em every day...solid, solid stuff. Like, compare fluff from unqt or wtvn--I mean, they try...kinda...but CompUSA, Hewlett-Packard, strategic deals, channel players, then an upgrade already? Web sites look good, even for the newly hired PR/IR firm...
Of course they can't keep it up day-in, day-out, but as you say, once the ink has dried on these, maybe the bigger news takes over...
great play...I'm having fun...we even get "scares" like today's dip--Beats the Chit outta Six Flags!
