I am confused. I was under the impression that it was supposed to be out this month? When are they required to release their 4Q stuff?

Google Inadvertently Leaks Storage Plan
Wednesday March 8, 8:29 pm ET
By Michael Liedtke, AP Business Writer
Google Inadvertently Leaks Plan for Service Offering 'Infinite' Storage Capacity

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Google Inc. apparently hopes to persuade computer users to entrust all their digital data with the online search engine leader, even though the company is having trouble controlling its own internal communications.

Plans for a Google service offering "infinite" storage capacity leaked out last week when the company inadvertently shared some information about several projects, including one named "GDrive," on its Web site.

Google quickly removed the previously confidential notes, but not before some eagle-eyed Web surfers had already made copies. Excerpts remain available on some Web sites.

In its internal notes, Google discusses an ambitious storage system that would keep its users' word processing files, e-mails, Web history and photos on the company's own computers. Google believes the service would be enticing because the information would be unleashed from a single PC in a home or office, allowing users to access their data from any Internet-connected computer.

"The online copy of your data will become your Golden Copy," Google's notes said, while the original information kept on a users' PC would serve as a backup.

Google spokeswoman Lynn Fox declined to discuss the possible storage system.

"We are always working on new ways to enhance our products and services for users, but we have nothing to announce at this time," she said Wednesday.

In its leaked notes, Google acknowledged it would have to overcome current limitations on transmission speeds and storage capacity. Google also would have overcome privacy concerns and possible trust issues.

Google doing something really similar...

Another partner, but no 4Q yet.

PALM DESERT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 14, 2006--Newport International Group (OTCBB:NWPO - News) announced today that its Spare Backup Inc. subsidiary has signed a global strategic partnership with Brainware (Switzerland) and PreWorX (South Africa) to create and deliver the first-ever PC-down and backup/restore solution to consumers and small businesses worldwide. The agreement extends to cover technology development, marketing, channel development and cross-selling in all worldwide markets, including Brainware's 150,000 customers in Switzerland alone.

The agreement enables the three parties to deliver a solution by which customers can access the Internet even when their computer fails to boot its operating system. Once the PC is connected via proprietary technology to the Internet, a series of diagnostics and repair tools may be run remotely to correct the malfunction. In the event that the computer can not be fixed remotely, a trouble ticket listing the exact configuration of the PC and nature of the problem will be electronically submitted to any one of a number of user-chosen service providers, who will dispatch the necessary hardware or software needed to fix the problem. Meanwhile all data will be accessible over Spare Backup's remote encrypted data centers.

"Our intelligent solution now enables consumer and business users to get to their data from anywhere in the world, even if the PC fails to start its operating system. The ability to connect to the Internet while the PC is remotely diagnosed and repaired brings datacenter technology within the reach of millions of existing channel users in Europe, South Africa, Japan and the United States," said Cery Perle, chief executive officer of Newport. "More importantly, if a user's PC hardware is not reparable through our remote restoration, our user will be able to connect immediately to a nearby service provider, such as a 'Geek Squad' or other on-site service organization, for immediate dispatch of hardware or technical assistance. The user could have his or her choice of service provider, who will receive the user's configuration in order to dispatch the exact hardware or software needed."

"The partnership between Brainware, PreWorX, and Spare Backup will allow OEMs and ISPs to add further value to their product portfolio while simultaneously providing their channel partners and end users with Spare's innovative hard drive backup and restoration solution," said Rey Schallberger, CEO of Brainware. "Our established reseller networks encompass both individual consumers and enterprise-level clients, and we are confident that by joining Spare's global business network which encompasses retail distribution, we will deliver tremendous benefit to both our business partners and customers."

A major focus of the marketing plans of both Spare Backup and its partners plan, is signing up OEMs who can preinstall backup solutions in order to dramatically reduce tech support costs.

While Spare Backup is targeting the backup service primarily to private users and small corporations, Brainware and PreWorX plan to integrate the service into their Columbus Enterprise platform, designed to service businesses of all different sizes.

The service will be available on monthly subscription or purchased license basis.

This company has entered numerous arrangements with vendors to market its product. Does anyone out there know what sort of timetable they have in reporting earnings or sales?

Waiting and waiting... well, I thought we would see the numbers in February, but I just went to look at their filing. Here is when they reported their previous 10K :

2005 April 1st
2004 April 16th
2003 May 22nd
2002 April 16th
2001 April 2nd

So it's usually April. We may still have a month to wait.

I google'd spare backup tonight. And I have to admit that I have been disappointed in the lack of interest of the software. Based on the pps. I was however shocked to see that Toshiba was selling spare switch on their site. And tuscows.com is selling spare as of March 21st. The sites reselling had very little downloads. But I did not read a bad review, on any sites. I did notice that their was a few people who post on here, had posted reviews on other sites. I'm just wondering why I'm still holding this pos. And in my mind trying to justify not selling. Do I buy more and hope for the future, or do I sell this low volume, low pps and eat my profit from the great run. What are we really holding for? A move to the Nasdaq, Amex? More big name sellers, or financial that are never going to come out, or when they do they wont be overly shocking. What are other shareholders waiting on? And what is your position in this as far as length.

Yepp, I can say I am in the same position as you.

My beliefs are that the 4Q will probably be a little better than the last one, not significant but better.

Your questions are correct, I have asked myself the exact same questions but I am still holding the stocks.

Good or bad to not sell? I can't tell yet but I have made my bet at least for now.

I have reviewed sparebackup at download.com and I have been using it since june when I reviewed it.
Before it had like 94 downloads, now it has 4000 downloads at downloads.com, not much but something.

Not the news I was hoping for, but I'll take it.

I have a call to the company to see when they are going to publish the latest quarterly report. I am real curious as to how much revenue they expierenced in the first 3 months of Spare.
