Q Television Network on the Red Carpet at One of Hollywood's Hottest Oscar Parties; Exclusive Interviews to Air on 'Q on the Move'

3/1/2005 9:30:00 AM

NEW YORK, Mar 1, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Q Television Network (Pink Sheets:QBID), the television network for the gay and lesbian community, was the only gay network on the red carpet at the exclusive "The Envelope Please" party thrown by Esquire Magazine at The Abbey Food & Bar in West Hollywood, Oscar night, Sunday, February 27. "The Envelope Please" is the year's hottest party for those who "think young" on Oscar Night.

"Q on the Move" host Nick Oram covered the red carpet for Q Television and spoke to such Hollywood heavyweights as Academy Award nominee Diane Lane; Jennifer Love Hewitt; Jon Heder, star of Napoleon Dynamite; John Ratzenberger, from Cheers and most recently The Incredibles; Tommy Chong of Cheech & Chong fame and from Fox's That 70's Show; the cast of Queer Eye for the Straight Girl; Danica McKellar of The West Wing and Kate Linder from CBS's The Young & The Restless.

The exclusive footage will be broadcast on a special episode of "Q on the Move," the network's travelogue of gay-friendly places, people and events, to run in late March.

Proceeds from the evening benefited AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA), one of the largest non-profit AIDS services organizations in the United States.

In addition to "Q on the Move," Q Television Network is currently the home for such original programming as "WOW! Women on Women," a lesbian talk show; "Q the Music," a music video series, "In FoQus," a biography program, and "On Q Live," an interactive news magazine series.

Q Television can be found on RCN on Channel 255. For further information on programming and subscriptions please visit www.qtelevision.com.

About Q Television Network

This television network was organized to create and develop a network devoted to providing television programming for the gay and lesbian community. While the company expects much of its subscriber base to be comprised of members of the gay and lesbian population, management also believes that quality programming about the gay and lesbian experience, designed to entertain, educate and inform, will attract many other segments of the viewing public. The company's programming will be available on a subscription basis to those desiring its programming. The network will broadcast 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Providing distribution via satellite ensures availability of the network across the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. For further information on programming and subscriptions, please visit www.qtelevision.com.

or do they expect to have their carriers announced and so they are waiting til end of March to launch their new shows?

betting babe.
I would think that showing the footage now would be the best thing for them also.
I figured they would have a pr about the awards, now just waiting for the real deal, and waiting and waiting.
I am sure, or hope that when they announce carriers and other news that all these shows we hear about will launch, should be interesting.
This was an early pr, maybe there will be another sometime today.

yeah, anyone know what happened to the q at the superbowl footage? they had a pr about that a while back. i dont think it ever aired, just like the pr about a liz taylor tribute. that never aired also. this most likely wont air either, just like the others. prs like these should be an advertisement on thier website if anything, these prs have nothing to do with the investment side of qbid. these prs should be directed at people that plan to watch qtv, not investors. right now qbid is down to the high .0020s on this pr. just that should speak for itself. dont you guys think these should be advertisements for the network, not prs for investors?

All these shows we hear about should do well whenever they announce a carrier or two, or three, whenever that is. Not sure why they don't do what you say about the pr part. Just waiting, and hoping something would be announced about carriers before May, really do. The people they hired to bring this along I think is big for Q. I think it takes time and we get impatient, should be interesting in the coming weeks if all goes well.

So has anyone actually gotten a reply from our new IR guy? Imagine hiring someone else to ignore the same concerns we've been expressing to Frank the Fraud. Oh well, it's only our money.

Can we hear an 87 bottles of beer on the wall <burp>?

OK, now I am all in.

Any company that would interview Jennifer Love Hewitt (my dream gal) has got to be the best network around. [Big Grin]

Joking aside, nice to see exposure in Hollywood!!

This could certainly have an impact on subscription TV/Radio:
Decency rules should apply pay TV, radio-US senator

March 01, 2005 10:42:59 (ET)

WASHINGTON, March 1 (Reuters) - U.S. Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Ted Stevens said on Tuesday he would push to apply broadcast decency standards to subscription television and radio services like cable and satellite.

"Cable is a much greater violator in the indecency area," the Alaska Republican told the National Association of Broadcasters, which represents most local television affiliates. "I think we have the same power to deal with cable as over-the-air" broadcasters.

"There has to be some standard of decency," he said.

Stevens told reporters afterward that he would push legislation to apply the standards to cable and satellite radio and television.

Federal regulations bar broadcast television and radio stations from airing obscene material and restrict indecent material, such as sexually explicit discussions or profanity, to late-night hours when children are less likely to be watching or listening.

But so far those restrictions have not applied to subscription television and radio services offered by companies like Comcast Corp. (CMCSA,Trade) or Sirius Satellite Radio Inc.(SIRI,Trade), which recently signed shock jock Howard Stern.

Stevens said he disagreed "violently" with assertions by the cable industry that Congress does not have the authority to impose limits on what they air.

"If that's the issue they want to take on, we'll take it on and let the Supreme Court decide," he said.

The U.S. House of Representatives has approved legislation to raise fines to $500,000 from $32,500 on television and radio broadcasters that violate indecency limits. The Senate has legislation pending to increase fines as well.

But neither bill has provisions that would extend indecency restrictions to cable and satellite services.

i also would never suscribe to qtv, if it were available on direct tv. here! is on my satelite dish so, i think since direct tv already carrys this type of channel, its not really a long shot for qtv to get on direct tv also. there is definately a big market for this type of programming. gay people are a problem that is not going away. so, i really think this thing could make it. but qtv is only available on a subscription basis so, i dont have a problem with that since, here tv is also a ppv. so, if you dont want to see it, you do have to see it. anyone know how many subscribers qtv currently has? ive heard 40,000 mention before from the last conferance call. but i havent heard anymore about it since then.

Hey guys, IMPORTANT.

I feel I have a right to tell you something.

I found this last night and not sure what to think of it. Even though I'm completely out of QBID for the past few months, I feel this is important to share. Not sure if it's made up by someone, because we all know how entertaining people can get on the Internet. So hopefully someone here can shed some light for others about this.

This is past news for the company Frank is running.

August 7, 2000 Announces the Launch Of The First All Gay and Lesbian Channel

qtv would of been first but, here tv launced 3 years ago and is available in 30 million homes. and also viacom is planning to launch logo this summer nationwide. they will also be available in millions of homes. qtv may have a few thousand subcribers but, no one knows for sure exactly how many they actually have. so, qtv is definately losing the market to the competition, the longer frank takes his time, the more ground qtv loses to the other networks. and whats with all these fluff prs? there have been 26 prs in under 3 months. since december 3rd till now, the price of qbid was .006, three months ago. now it struggles to stay above .003 i would prefer to see no more fluff prs. at the rate they are going there will be over 120 prs this year. i just dont see what good all these prs are doing.

Has anyone else noticed that today's PR came from New York instead of Palm Springs? I just found that interesting...

So QTV is competing against a huge company? And another gay tv channel thats had a 3 year head start? QTV better get its stuff together in a hurry if it wants to be relevant.

the thing about here tv, they are only availble for 12 hours a day and they just show crappy movies. qtv has live programs and can be watched 24/7. so, most people that are interested in this type programming would probably choose qtv over here tv, if they had the option. but the real competition is logo and they are supposed to be launching june 30th. logo should be the main concern because they are owned by a billion dollar media company called viacom. if frank doesnt get a big carrier in the next couple months, i will have no choice but to sell my qbid shares. time is ticking away. so, far this year qbid has been a joke. all talk, no action.

firefly, i have no agenda. im just an investor and i see this stock having huge potential. thats is all. but frank needs to speed things up some or hes going to lose out the logo or here tv. since he first started this thing till now. at first qtv was the only network in the works, 4 years later after several missed launches, there are currently 3 networks total trying to get the same market. here tv has been airing for 3 years. things just need to start happening sooner, because qtv is definately running behind the competition.

Oh and on a lighter note.

Looking at the chart I would place my buy order in now.

Safest way to watch it, is, if it closes below .0028, sell it. Otherwise hold for a few days. Remember, it's in a trading range. A stock can breakout out of it within days or stay in it for months.

Aside from the other technicals I see which are pretty good, History shows, When QBID's money flow turns green, price always follows. It's money flow is green.

Take your profits and run. Remember little gains here and there all add up!

Oil slick alert.....

It is strangely comforting to find the same ancient dd appearing again and again. Yes, Frank has been working on this network for over 10 years. How many years did it take SIRI? XM was available first, but SIRI laid the ground work.

I've been thinking March would begin the begin. Could be more than intuition.

Information is information. How information is processed depends on prior knowledge, experience opinion and the ability to analyze and apply deductions.

Fluff is "We went and had a lovely time." Whereas, "We went and filmed interviews."
is factual.

Why serve dinner before the last guest is seated? QTN is only available to a limited number of viewers. JMO

On another note, Marty, thanks for posting the article. It is also being discussed by the talking heads on TV. There could be an unexpected result from this--cable may have to allow choices for the viewers--creating our own cable packages sounds good to me.

Does anyone else find it ironic that a senator from Alaska (land of the midnight sun) wants to restrict subscription choice for television viewers?
