RCN Facing Bankruptcy? Things could get sticky in 2004
Princeton NJ based cable provider RCN may be staring bankruptcy in the eye if business conditions fail to improve. Though the company scores a fairly solid B grade in our review matrix, analysts fear the company may be headed for trouble. Users in our RCN forum have been tracking progressive layoffs over the past several weeks. Rumors have emerged that the company could be forced to default on its loans by the second quarter of next year, unless business improves or they find some way to manage their $1.8 billion in debt. In a statement an RCN spokesman noted that RCN financial advisers and senior executives were working to resolve the situation, and that the company was dedicated to continuing service for the company's almost half-million customers nation-wide.
With only modest growth in sales, steep layoffs have failed to prop up share prices, which have plunged from nearly $75 in early 2000 to under $1. One of RCN's biggest investors, Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, sold 40 percent of his shares last month for a loss of about $650 million.

Geez: U4 must have had a sleepless night and a call from the Grand Pooba at Basher Central. This person sounds so desperate, maybe he needs the extra .10 cent raise that he was promised by Basher Central.Now that he has a pay raise he can buy a life as it is obvious he does not have one now. does anyone know what is the deal with this company? With a launch like they were supposidly going to do shouldnt that have increased the pps just a little? Kind of a hoax I feel.

And what makes you think it is a hoax??? The company or our PPS being low?
The company isn't a hoax, if it was they could have gotten our money and not have had to work or go as far as they did... It would have ended a while ago.

********** I for one having half a brain and have been involved with this stock since early March, have to also question it's ability to do anything. I think U4 probably is the best person to listen to at least I have (a good balance between him and Diane). U4 and most of us early investors optimism was based on Q-TV doing what it siad it was going to do.
THE PR IS FLUFF THE PPS HAS SUNK
Everyone can keep these lofty hopes up but I myself am looking work an exit point for my million plus shares because I'm not seeing any future here...just continual delays and broken agendas.
The company issued statements a while ago saying they will not release instant PR's to instantly satisfy our taste for new information.
ALSO PR's have to go through some amount of legal channels, so again, PR's on this matter may take some time...
I wouldn't want them to release a PR saying, HEY WE LAUNCHED, ohh wait we have technical difficulties!
Let them 'launch', get all the kinks out of the system, then when it is prety obvious that the technical aspect has been satisfied, then we get the PR's we want!
We aren't launching a tv channel, we are launching a NETWORK! Much bigger and better!
Just keep in mind there will be problems along the way, EVERY TV Network encounters these problems...
We are still new and will fall at some point before we will walk upright!

Another thing I may have missed. We were supposed to get a report on the number of outstanding shares on May 15. Was that ever released? Pretty sure it was promised. I must have missed it though.
Ooo one more thing. Sometime around the end July there was supposed to be a major media blitz. I don't watch a lot of TV, but could someone point me to some of the advertisements, interviews, etc that were done?

Not that I know of...
Its not the number of channels you own that make you a 'Network'...
CBS Tv, NBC, ABC even PBS are all 'Networks'...
A channel is more like, The Movie Channel... Ya know...
However durring the 1990's all these Networks picked up other programming in an attempt to spread themselves out, however Qbid is trying to be a Network, which in my eyes goes MUCH further...
They can do reporting and have access to politicians, ect, things they may not necessarily be able to do if they call themselves a 'channel', ya know?
