Activison Sees Growth for Holiday Season; 2004

In its recent Q2 financial conference call, Activision executives offered an optimistic view of the installed base and its prospects for growth.

Company officials said the U.S. installed base of current-generation consoles, including handhelds, stood at 45.6 million units as of the end of September 2003, up 87% over last year. The company expects the installed base to grow to 56 million units by the end of the year, a figure slightly ahead of its earlier estimates.

“The installed base of current generation hardware is significant and growing” said Ron Doornink, President and CEO of Activision Publishing, Inc.

During the conference call, Activision offered a breakdown of the company’s estimates of the current installed base by platform.

According to Activision, the North American base of PS2 consoles is 19.2 million, and is projected to end the year at 24 million barring a console price cut, down 1 million units from the company’s prior estimate, said Doornink.

As for Xbox, Doornink cited an installed base of 6 million projected to be 8 million by the end of 2003.

Doornink said the GameCube was selling well in the wake of Nintendo’s recent price cut, and the current base of 4.7 million units would grow to more than 6 million by years end.

The installed base of the Game Boy Advance is 15.7 million projected to grow to 18 million, owing to the success of the SP model.

Doornink noted that the installed base of current-generation systems is more than twice the size that it was at the same point in the last console cycle, despite higher average prices for the current systems.

On the other hand, console price cuts anticipated after the holidays should make 2004 a stronger year for software than previously forecast, according to Doornink.

Regarding Sunny...

In case anyone visiting and posting on this thread may wonder why I asked poster "Sunny" to leave and start another PGHI thread to interact with members of the board that would "enjoy" conversations with him.

I am a very opened minded individual. And I do in fact respect the opinions of all indivduals. What I did realize quickly upon seeing this member begin to post on the previous PGHI thread was unnecessary remarks... that envoked unnecessary "bickering" on the thread. It began to give me the "feel" of being on raging bull. After literally over 1000 pleasant and "open-minded" messages discussing PGHI and it's "positives and negatives" without such a "negative" atmosphere... it was a sincere disappointment to me to see one individual "corrupt" the atmosphere by making statements such as "pump & dump"... questioning the validity of "tech analysis" and so forth. Rather than concentrating our discussions on PGHI... it was quickly becoming an unnecessary "battleground"... which im sure will continue on that particular thread.

Maybe it's my personality... but I truly in life have enjoyed surrounding myself with intelligent, open-minded positive indivduals. This does not necessarily mean individuals that are always "bullish" for example... but rather individuals that are "positive" and look for "positives" in every situation. I've found it difficult at times to interact with individuals that make strong "negative" remarks that are simply unsubstantiated.

I personally have enjoyed our intelligent conversations and analysis of PGHI and GamezNFlix... the market... the business model and so forth. I will continue to do so as we move forward.

Let me know what your thoughts are on this... if you want...

Thanks you.
Mach

This is a repost of what I posted on Sunny's new thread:

Webster's: OPINION - a formal expression of judgment or advice by an expert.
Sunny, your OPINION on PGHI and your OPINION of the others who post here and on the other threads is without merit, as you are OBVIOUSLY not an expert on penny stocks. All you do is complain because you are not seeing quick profits on a stock you bought without doing ANY DD yourself. You bought the stock because of what you were reading about it, written by the experts on this board, people who really know how to do proper research and then post their findings here so others can profit. All you do is whine because no one else wants to buy into your "OH WHOA IS ME, I THINK I BOUGHT A LOSER!!" attitude. And attacking someone like Milty and Mach ... dude you just show your ignorance. Quit your whining and either sell the stock and move on to something else, or sit back like the rest of us and wait for it to hit $5.00 and make a mint.

Walt

So Mach, that is MY OPINION.

GameZNflix RALLY(PGHI) A COMPLETE ANALYSIS
BY MACH December 16, 2003

TECHNICAL ANALYSIS & SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENTS

There is no question that mass psychology has an impact on a stock’s price: Prices are driven by emotions, mainly greed and fear. Technical analysis incorporates price action and volume to produce a blueprint of where a stock has been and where it may go. It traces the emotional extremes of the bulls and the bears to produce clues as to where the greed of fear is the strongest. Knowing how to spot repeating price patterns in the market will provide you with a valuable advantage.

Great traders have proven time and again that they can consistently win by speculating when the odds are in their favor. Whether you have used or desire not to use technical analysis is insignificant. We all use different trading strategies as we make our investment decisions.

What is significant is the fact that many individuals use technical analysis as an indication of (1) Whether to enter a position (2) When to Enter a position (3) And when to exit a position.

A common pattern thoughout the market is that technicians are often the the first to enter a position followed by the general market and momentum traders.

So what do the technicians see happening with PGHI lately? And what will technicians do?

Williams%R & Fast Stochaistics have now signaling that PGHI is moving into oversold territory. During the prior moves into oversold territory in Mid September and mid November PGHI gained several 100%’s gains in the following days after several consecutive days of consolidation. Slow Stochaistics for PGHI indicate that it may trade “sideways” in oversold territory for a few more days(Strong news could change this.) One could speculate based on prior trends that PGHI will likely make a similar move in the near future from the current oversold position and reward current shareholders with a 100%/200%/300% gain or more.

What will technicians be doing during the next few days? Accumulation. (See attached chart)
daclyyay[db][pb50!b200][vc60][iUi14,3!Lk14]&pref=G]http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/SC.web?c=PGHI,uu[m,a]daclyyay[db] [pb50!b200][vc60][iUi14,3!Lk14]&pref=G

That’s great if technical analysis were always 100% accurate, but it isn’t. We need to dig a little deeper and discover whether there are any significant developments within the company that will support and substantiate such a move.

SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENTS

So what are the significant developments occurring now and will they impact shareholder value in the near future?

The first significant development is a corporate name change to GameZNflix Inc. How significant is this? This demonstrates to the shareholder that PGHI is extremely focused on the success of it’s online business to the extent that they are developing much of their current business model around it’s success. "When you review companies like NetFlix.com, and apply a similar model to Veegeez.com it is easy to see the potential of our new subsidiary." President John Fleming continued, "We feel there is a great upside for our shareholders with this acquisition."

Should shareholders be excited? Absolutely! Afterall Netflix pulled off a dot-com IPO and reached profitability faster than anyone predicted. Netflix shares have taken a “gigantic leap” in less than 2 years from $4 to $60. Is itn't unreasonable to assume that GameZNflix shareholders will realize substantial gains from it’s current trading level of .026!

A second significant development is the launch of a new web site designed by Roy Vella, Web & Print Design Service. Lance Wiseman, CTO states, "The signing of this contract begins the next phase of VeeGeeZ.com's business plan to provide enhanced services to its customers. In addition, the new design will not only meet our current video game rental customer base it will setup our expansion into the DVD rental world"

Did he say DVD? A third significant development which will become a much more significant factor in the success of the current business model is the addition of DVD’s to it’s current business model.

The expectation for the launch of online DVD rentals combined with it’s current Online Gaming Rental business is extremely significant. After all Netflix currently does not offer or market Online Video Game Rentals! It will be much more convenient for America to have an subscription service that caters to families that desire both a DVD and Video Game Rental Service! Will this increase the number of people that subsribe to their service? Yes! Will this increase shareholder value? Absolutely!

GREAT EXPECTATIONS

Upon completion of both the final name change and new web site you can expect a much stronger focus on marketing and an increase in subscriptions. On November 5, 2003, PGHI announced that its subsidiary -- online video game rental company, VeeGeeZ.com, LLC -- has signed a contract with Venture Direct Worldwide of New York to handle its online marketing campaign. The experienced staff of Venture Direct Worldwide and VeeGeeZ management has developed a marketing plan to assist the company in moving to the next level.

The success of many company is more often than not the direct result of the success of it’s marketing campaign. How successful will it be? Why don’t we ask some of Venture Direct Worldwide’s current clients which include: Adobe, Microsoft, Citigroup, AT&T, Intel, Xerox, Fortune Magazine and many other successful companies. Do I need to elaborate?

(See attached link:http://www.venturedirect.com/html/vdw_clients.htm)

TIME FRAME
How close are we to seeing these developments significantly impact shareholder value? Current indications are that it will be VERY SOON!

Here are the steps leading to the name change:

I posted this in bits and pieces in an earlier PGHI thread but thought it should be reposted here. These are random bits of info and opinion that may help you make inferences into where Veegeez stands in terms of it's competition.

*******

[b]Introduction:

To put this summary in the proper context, I thought you should know some info about my background. I am in the web development industry and have worked and designed systems for many major B2B and B2C sites including partners of the big 3: Yahoo, MSN, and AOL. So opinions I post here will be from that standpoint, and less from a stock technical analysis view.

Voluntary Disclosure: I own a large chunk of shares in PGHI so I have a vested interest in the company succeeding.

Here is my opinion of Veegeez:

The online game rental business has tons of potential. There is no doubt that when applied to video games, the Netflix model of "rent as much as you can for a monthly fee" works. I think anyone who has invested in PGHI will agree so I won't elaborate too much on this point.

In order to see the real picture we have to be more logical and less emotional in our approach. The following are a few points that jumped out at me:

CONS

  • The design of the current Veegeez.com website is piss-poor. I have honestly seen better websites made by 12 year olds.
  • It doesn't look like much thought was put into the information architecture of the site. Links, categories and sections are either unclear, inconsistent or both.
  • Focus. The site is guilty of trying to do too much at once which ends up confusing the viewer. Do a side-by-side comparison of the homepages of Veegeez and Netflix and you'll see what I mean. The sometimes cliche saying of "Less is More" actually applies in this situation.
  • The site needs a marketing touch. Aside from a large banner on the homepage, there is little being done to meet the site's main objective: get new users to sign up.
  • The process for browsing through titles is unintuitive. It is not clear how the "Game Catalog" on the left nav is supposed to work. There are five drop-down boxes with no clear labels on what each one is intended to do. Sorting through some pages (up to 400+ pages long) is a pain.
  • The company needs to find a better way to differentiate between available and unavailable titles. I did a quick search for new titles for Playstation 2 and 7 out of the 10 games listed were out of stock.
  • Inventory. This is probably a given. We need more titles and more copies of each.
  • Site Statistics. Why display information that may be misused by competitors or could be interpreted as negative by your customers? It would be a different case if the company had stellar numbers such as 99% of titles in stock or 1million pages viewed today. That could be used as a marketing tool. But mediocre metrics such as only 60% of our inventory is available or only 38 people online right now? It may be useful to the company (or even shareholders) but not customers.

PROS

  • All the negatives above being said, I am pleased to see that PGHI's first order of business is to hire a web designer to give it a fresh look. Done right, most of the CONS I listed above should be addressed. Let's see.
  • Customer Service seems to be good. Each time I sent them an email, I got a response back within a few hours. One thing to note though that the same person responded to all my questions. Could it be a one-man operation?
  • PGHI is a public company and through the sale of stock can raise funds needed to develop the infrastructure for the business and purchase more inventory.
  • Being the first publicly traded company in the online game rentals business can get PGHI some good attention and hype.

CHALLENGES

  • Veegeez is a late entry into the marketplace. "First to market" always has the advantage and Gamefly, and others already have a lead for which Veegeez has to make up. The less than 1,000 customers that they currently have is nominal compared to the market potential.
  • Netflix has patented some "key processes" of their rental queue system which is the technology for which their infrastructure revolves around. Although many copycat sites simply disregard these, Veegeez has to figure out a way to work around these patents if they are serious about making it big. Netflix is already starting to take "offenders" into court.
  • Veegeez has no branding. Though us shareholders know Veegeez by heart, the company is not at all known by it's target market. This may be a blessing in disguise as the marketing company Fleming just hired has a clean slate to work with. (It is interesting to note that Veegeez now advertises on Overture and pays about $1 per click. That's a bit expensive but is a good sign that they're putting money into promotion. This allows their listing to show on top of search results for Yahoo, MSN and others.)
  • What do breakout companies have in common? A CULT-like following. Seriously. Look at Apple Computer owners, TIVO customers and Netflix subscribers. They swear by those products and services and love them. No one company has that type of effect in the game rentals industry although Gamefly has a lead.

KEY ISSUE

It is just as important to keep customers satisfied so that they remain customers. This leads us to a very important concern that I do not have insight to but is worth bringing up: INFRASTRUCTURE. This would include all the back-end systems necessary to run a commerce site successfully. At a high-level:

  • FULFILLMENT: Veegeez needs to have an effective process for shipping out and managing inventory. For example, I have a Netflix account and I usually have a 2 day turnaround for my movie rentals. (I mail a movie back on Monday, they get it Tuesday and send a new one which I get Wednesday.)
  • BILLING: Monthly memberships should be charged accurately and in time.

MARKETPLACE
At this time, I see Gamefly and DVD Barn as the leaders in the industry. Veegeez is not (yet) at a level that it could compete.

Gamefly seems to be the best known of the group with a brand that has been well established in the gaming industry. They seem to have a big marketing campaign this holiday season. I have personally seen ads for them on MTV2 and all over the net. My nephews (avid gamers which is their target market) tell me that they see ads for them in magazines all the time.

DVD Barn offers what Veegeez hopes for: game and movie rentals using one membership account though they have a fairly regional following, more popular in the west coast.

The competition:

GameFly http://www.gamefly.com

DVDBarn http://www.dvdbarn.com

GameLender http://www.gamelender.com
GameLender seems to be the leader in terms of titles carried with over 5,000 in their inventory.

Red Octane http://www.redoctane.com

GoVojo http://www.govojo.com

RentZero http://www.rentzero.com

Angel Gamer http://www.angelgamer.com

DVD Avenue http://www.dvdavenue.com

Turbo Gamer http://www.turbogamer.com

Well the "Bulls are Seizing Control" Mav. This doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to run away though... I personally am hoping for a nice slow walk up to .05 and then news that would encourage a breakout. To much to quick isn't necessarily healthy.

Couple questions here. First, could someone explain why they moved to KY. I am not buying that it was to reach their eastern subscribers. With under 1000 subscribers, and around 1000 games, the move to KY doesn’t seem necessary, unless there is something I am missing. I don’t doubt the techs on this baby, the little I know about techs seem to point to a good deal, but the fundamentals I am concerned with.

Also, is anyone else concerned about the fact that if PGHI doesn’t raise a certain amount of money by a certain date, either party can void the contract between VeeGeez and PGHI. (The amount of money adnd time is in their press releases).

I am off to call the investor relations about the private placement…get some more info

m_h... yes i'd like to know that... I assume Betn has insider information. Also, he may have read a prior pr regarding 400 subscribers with a growth rate of 40% per month if i recall and then guesstemated... i can only assume...

Betn... companies are visionaries... they need to look forward and anticipate... Distribution centers throughout the US will be necessary as the subscriber base grows... Fullfillment and timeliness of will be important with respect to customer satisfaction and retention. When the new site is launched and marketing begins... they need to "have all their ducks in a row." I'm busy savvy and sometimes take the knowledge for granted. If you need more detail... let me know. An East Coast/West Coast base for now seems adequate. Thanks. mach

Can I ask you where was this information obtained? Do you have a F/S or something? If you do can I please review it also? Thank you. -Marty

"I am not buying that it was to reach their eastern subscribers."

As a subscriber it takes between 4-5days time to send/receive a game. Now, with that information you might want to rethink the validity of your statement. I am all for it.

I guess Netflix having 23 distribution centers does not give VeeGeez's plan any merit either?

Netflix Shipping Centers:
-Twenty shipping centers nationwide.
-Shipping centers serving metropolitan areas in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, San Jose, Seattle, St. Louis, Stamford, and Washington, D.C.
-Netflix reaches more than half of its subscribers with generally next-day delivery. By year-end 2003, Netflix expects to reach more than 70 percent of its subscribers with generally next-day delivery.
-The efficiency of these shipping centers - most are no more than 8,000 square feet - is driven by proprietary software that enables a lean crew to process and ship a daily average volume of between 5,000 and 30,000 discs a day.

Its possible they will try and drop it a little before the next run up, but I dont see how much they will be able to drop this, maybe .027 at the most. I have my brother putting some money in on Monday, maybe he can get a good price! Buy hey, anything under .03 looks good from here

I posted this on the other PGHI thread....KC

I don't post much but when I have it has been on the other thread. PGHI is a longer term play in my opinion i.e. 3-24 months. In penny stocks I wouldn't "invest" unless I could stand to lose it all. Intraday trading is tough in any stock and more like a crap shoot with penny stocks. I have a substantial investment in PGHI and I will tell you this, the odds of it going down to .16 from this point is less than the probability of going back up to where you would be in the green IMO Sunny. In this particular stock the downside risk right now does not compare to the upside potential if you have time to sit on it. Example: 100k shares at .03 to .02 is a 1k loss. The time it would take for this stock to go down that far would be much longer than the time it would take for the stock with this kind of trend to go back up to .045-.05 IMO. I personally made the decision to risk thousands of dollars to possibly make tens of thousnds. Eveyone has to make their own decision on how much risk they are willing to take to get a phenominal gain. This stock has that upside potential but there are no guarantees. I don't know if this helps or not, I hope so. KC

The 1000 games comes from a personal email I, as well as others received from VeeGeez. Email them and ask them how many games they have. They have over 1000 game titles.

Also, as far as the under 1000 subscribers, that’s an educated guess. Look at previous releases and do some math….and also look at in/out of stock ratio.

Mach …
I hope all this planning turns into something GREAT. It is a good idea to have more then one distribution center if you have thousands of games. Maybe they are planning on a huge buying spree…. More then what they are telling us

Betn... companies are visionaries... they need to look forward and anticipate... Distribution centers throughout the US will be necessary as the subscriber base grows... I hope your not attacking me for posting a question. I was wondering about their move with the small amount of games they have.

OK, great! Thanks for the educated guess.

Now this is just based on personal assumption, but if they are going to have a east coast distribution center, they would HAVE to stock inventory to supply there subs on the east coast. If this was not implemented, what would be the point of having this as a distribution center.

OK, how bout this maybe there are going to still ship out games from CA until TN is built up. But they will receive games in TN no problem? Turn-around time will now decrease.

I don't know, but I am banking on VG's with this new location to also coincide with increased inventory to feed the eastern subs. I hope! -

Not at all. I just questioned the numbers you had posted. PGHI is due for some sort of release of F/S on VeeGeez, and I thought maybe perhaps you had this information. OK?

Could others please comment. I did not think my post was worded as an "attack". I this is the case, I owe you an apology. - Marty
