and I know because that was the brand of my of ol' redneck, iron-assed granma...infamous during her youth in central Texas for riding a horse full-saddle, like a man instead of riding sidesaddle "like a lady."
I fell into bad company with a thug down the street when I was about 4 or 5 and began stealing her cigarettes, said Tarreytons. We'd smoke 'em out back. He was about 3 or 4 years older, so naturally I deferred to his vast experience of 8-9 years' on the planet.
We decided the name-brand cigarettes were much better than the common grapevine. So I kept stealing, lol, prolly 5 to 6 a week.
Until one day, she cornered me and gave me the Evil EYE!
Bottom line, I had to quit smoking to enter first grade.
EDIT: lol, intriguing memory, now that I think about it: She didn't inhale--she "puffed." That is, I can remember her smoking, but it was as if you put a cigarette in a machine that simply "blew smoke."
Weird, what can you can remember, when you're thinking of other stuff...

I remember stealing grandads lucky strike's (non filtered) to see what smoking was all about. Also, stealing dad's marlboro 100's after I decided that I wanted to smoke. Make no mistake, it is a decision that is made, it doesnt just happen. Strangeky enough, my dad almost seemed pleased when I first got busted, first words out of his mouth was asking me what brand I smoke. Marlboro red's at that time, and he smiled.

Is that what your calling it now, "advising". Funny how we can justify what we do Funny how a 15 year old, and a 10 year old, and a 9 year old, and a 3 year old, and a 1 year old can put your finances in perspective. Not that I don't appreciate where you are at right now, I was there a long time ago. Man, I used to love arguing with you though. And yes, you were wrong, I made a ton of money

BKMP was a scam and I haven't followed it since those days... It's a scam today no doubt. If it tilted up enough for you to exit with a profit.. that's wonderful... My intent was and always will be to teach newbies to avoid the joyous blatherings of those fully invested and waiting. Learn to read charts.. learn to read what is written .. and more importantly not written in filings with the sec... Do NOT follow someone who says "To da mooooooonnnn!!!".
Our dearly departed... soon to resurrect friend said it best about a year ago when he said... RD is crude but he has a desire to stand up for the weak... (Loosely phrased)

I undersand that your intentions were good, your means weren't so... then anywho, and assuming that everyone was a newbie was also wrong, I wont say I did, but I probably did and do, have more experience than you trading. New to the board, yes, new to the market, no. When in rome as they say.

my constant retort to penny bashers was that they are no different from the S&P or the DOW, just more obvious and transparently scams...
as we now see, investing is a waste of money anymore.

i don't remember anymmore Rufus was the CEO, thats all i remember now...
well, when i did offer picks? i always told people when i bought and sold...
i stopped offering picks after i got some shares "frozen" for three and a half years now in a "global lock" by the DTCC , the company was OK'ed to trade by the SEC but the DTC refuses to handle settlement so nobody can trade the shares..
it's a long complicated story and yes it's a penny stock, but the DTC accepted forged shares and sold them to me now they refuse to accept responsibilty for their mistake.. so i cannot in good conscience recommend that anybody buy ANY stock because the DTC can at any time at their discretion decide YOUR stock is worhtless. some market huh?
i still trade and i like the indexes, they are fairly easy to play. but if everybody plays them? then they'll screw the market up too so i don't post on 'em much.

the Penny days on this board Bkmp was a loser for me over all in two years of trading I did manage to make a profit not enough to keep trading penny's.
I was looking at my gains keeper and I can't believe the hundreds of trades I did.
