yeah, a group of Evangelical Christians say that, according to the Bible, we are charged with taking care of the world, God's gift to US, and what we do to the world? we are doing to Jesus... Evangelical group tackles global warming
(National-NBC) February 8, 2006 - A group of 86 evangelical leaders is calling for change. They want the Bush administration to act now to stop climate change. The church leaders say it's the poor who suffer from the effects.

Were you aware that "Clean Coal Technology" does not capture carbon? In fact the carbon from coal that is burnt in the nation's energy is not captured AT ALL! The energy sector says that adding such technology to their plants would double the cost of electricity.
Hmmm. If wind energy and solar energy is only slightly more expensive than current energy prices...what would happen if there were regulations on burning coal?
Why...I think we would see a radical shift toward SUSTAINABLE energy patterns!

Evangelicals are saying that.....WOW!!! Are these the same ones that say the earth is only 8000 years old, dinosaurs never existed and that the fossil record is created by atheist-scientists that practice witchcraft?

LOL, in my experience MOST Christians aren't in lalaland...
unfortunately? as in most all phases of humanity? the loudmouth nutcases seem to garner all the atention most of the time... even in liberal circles? it's the nuts that usually get the most attention...
when Bush-the-first lost his second election? the ultra-whatevers that Reagan had brought in were told to shut their yaps and stand outside the limelight... and quit scaring the "normal" (LOL) people 911 and the Rove campaign strategy emboldened them again...

Mr Deutsch's resignation appeared to have as much to do with the fact that he lied on his job application - he said he had a bachelor's degree in journalism from Texas A&M University, when in fact he never graduated - as with the way he did his job.
how many of these pseudo-intellectuals did these jerks hire????
seems like there is a full-court-press on real scientists.... As people do better, they start voting like Republicans - unless they have too much education and vote Democratic, which proves there can be too much of a good thing. Karl Rove
Dr Hansen and others have argued that Mr Deutsch was only part of a much broader problem of political interference at the agency. Dr Hansen, who directs Nasa's Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, said the Bush administration appointee had demanded to review his lectures and publications in advance.... ...he told The New York Times, he was warned that there would be "dire consequences" if he continued to make similar criticisms.

George Deutsch wrote for the Texas A&M Batallion while in college. Over at World O'Crap we see the sorts for defenses of the administration that no doubt got George his position at NASA. For example:
The ties between al-Qaida and Iraq are clear. So clear, in fact, that there is so much circumstantial evidence linking Iraq and al-Qaida that it would be hard for an informed person not to at least suspect Saddam's regime of having a hand in the attacks
Apparently, Deutsch sees the concept of "informed" somewhat differently to most people.
As Chris points out, Deutsch may want to clean up this site ... it's full of "theories".

February 04, 2006 Why Are There Any Republican Scientists at All?
The real question is not why are there so few Republican scientists and academics, but why there are any at all:
Pharyngula quotes :
In October 2005, Mr. Deutsch sent an e-mail message to Flint Wild, a NASA contractor working on a set of Web presentations about Einstein for middle-school students. The message said the word "theory" needed to be added after every mention of the Big Bang.
The Big Bang is "not proven fact; it is opinion," Mr. Deutsch wrote, adding, "It is not NASA's place, nor should it be to make a declaration such as this about the existence of the universe that discounts intelligent design by a creator."
It continued: "This is more than a science issue, it is a religious issue. And I would hate to think that young people would only be getting one-half of this debate from NASA. That would mean we had failed to properly educate the very people who rely on us for factual information the most."
Deutsch is 24 years old, having just graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism a few years ago. As a reward for being a loyal Republican party apparatchik, he has been generously appointed to be a Political Officer enforcing doctrine over a bunch of high-falutin' rocket scientists. Shades of Lysenko! It must have been a heady feeling to have the power to dictate ideology to a lot of scientists with Ph.D.s.

well, all scientists KNOW they are speaking of theories... that is fundamental to the scientific process...
the problem here is that like evolution? we have little hope of proving any of this anytime soon... i prefer a different theory to the big bang myself...
who is to say the Creator didn't use the big bang to create the universe? LOL... the Bible doesn't say different... the only problem is the timing....
i beleive that as we learn about the universe? we are getting closer to, and better understanding the creator...
you can't break GOD's Laws.. the ones you can break? those are human laws... that doesn't mean they aren't GOOD LAWS....

"the funny part? REALITY is just theory too..."
Yup, Glass... has something there, Dust...., and you're headed right at it. But, for the sake of those that don't see any of it, it's a heap deeper than thought process and psycho-analysis and mumbo-jumbo-use-bigger-words-and-talk-fast-and-make-'em-think-you're-just-too-smart-to-question-'bout-it.
It has to do with that all too often misunderstood and misrepresented question of whether or not a tree makes a sound if it falls and no one is there to hear it and the similarly treated saying, "I think, therefore, I am."
These are not in any sense trivial and trivial is how to describe a mind that believes they are.

I do agree. But you should also point out that we have absolutely no hope of proving any of the notions coming from any religios belief.
Well, at least not while we (we being any person or group thereof) still reside in this life on Earth.
