Q Television plans soft launch in June 20:33 BST, Thursday 27th May 2004 -- by James Welsh California-based Q Television Network will begin soft-launch broadcasts to potential carriers and advertisers from June 1.
"It has taken more than seven years and millions of dollars to arrive at this day," said Q Television's chairman and president Frank Olsen. "Clearly, the time to launch this network is now, and I am confident that the gay and lesbian community will embrace the unique perspective we offer as a family channel."
The station will broadcast its signal on Intelsat America's 7 at 129°W on channel 1.
Q Television's chief financial officer Rene Schenk compared the station's launch to that of cable news channel CNN back in the 1980s. "Just as CNN had tremendous hurdles to overcome, Frank and Q Television Network have had an uphill battle in the launch of Q Television," Schenk explained. "Q Television is positioned to successfully meet the demand that exists for a gay family channel."
The channel's executive vice president, Steven Grunberg, said that Q Television would offer a product very different to other gay-themed programmes. "This is built by and for the gay community," he said. "Rather than a smattering of stereotyped gay characters offered because current market projections indicate it would be profitable, we offer a channel that will unite the gay and lesbian audience through a network that educates, entertains and informs - a network of real value."

As long as this information is made available to anyone that asks, it's not. I'd love a PR too, but I'm not holding my breath for now
For now, I'm going with "no news is good news"... I'm going to take it that if something is wrong with the soft launch, then we'd hear about it... otherwise, it must be going as scheduled.... IMHO, the first time there is a "glitch" in the soft launch... Viacom/LOGO would have that splattered all over the newswires... I could be wrong though... GLTA....
P.S. LMAO @ BobTheSlob.... CMKX is my biggest green too... followed by TFCT (worth a look if you're not already in it!)...

finding out teh o/s count is absolutely not insider trading... fndinng out something such as logo is a fake they are actiually buying qtv, that would be insider info... not the o/s count. IMO but I am right.

I give Diana a lot of credit for even picking up the phone with the idea of going down there! Let alone that she is not a reporter so why would Frank want her to ask him a ton of questions? A lot of pressure is on her so give her credit. Unless she's done this before she should be very nervous.
We all await her feedback and hopefully another one of us has the guts to go to the media with the story.

Hotline update!!! Confirms PR tomorrow morning at 6 AM EST, but does not allude to the content. I am kind of worried because she also says that everyone will be gone from the office until next Tuesday which is the next time the hotline will be updated. Are they leaving to avoid all the phone calls that will be coming in, good or bad about tomorrows PR? Lets set up a chat tonight on yahoo to discuss.

Well...everyone wanted a PR...so here it comes. Not sure at all what sort of bad news they would have to give us (the soft launch lasts a month, and it has only just begun). The only remotely possible bad news I see is that the signal has failed because the satellite was taken out by an asteroid... lol. We already know from the hotline that the soft launch began without a problem
Positive news could be of any sort...O/S count, buyback, advertisers, cable providers, merger (you never know), or a bunch of fluff to give them an excuse give a PR. I'm really excited about this PR now. Maybe they took a few questions from Di and theyre responding on the hotline
GLTA

Before the last PR came out, the hotline voice sounded very excited. It was something like this. "All our executives are out of the office, very busy negotiating contracts (something like that). We will announce them when they are back in the office" It ended with "Its all good here at Q" When the PR came out, its pretty much fluff. I know some of you dont think its fluff.
But this time, hotline just says there will be a PR (not much excitement). Hopefully we have a good PR coming.. GLTA.
