THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO DO THIS. WHILE SOME OF US KNOW THE REAL WORLD VALUE, IT'S NICE TO SEE YOUR REPORT.
Blingy Member posted April 21, 2004 22:56 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- O.K. guys & gals, Here it is, and take it for what it's worth. I just got back from three gay bars in the community I live in. It's not a big Metropolitan area, but a large blue collar middle class working town known as Flint, MI. I told as many people as I could about "QTV", and believe it or not not a single man or woman asked me about O/S, or Market Cap Or R/S or any of the typical mumbo jumbo you hear so much about sometimes. Much to my surprise, the things they were most curious about were things like "How do we get it?, What kind of shows will they have? And how much is the subcription? It is Wed. night so not many people out, but the 5-6 I talked to gave me thier full attention. Gee I wish I could have answered more of thier questions in detail, but I at least I told them to call thier cable or satelite co. and request it, and they would most likely have it available before mid-summer!
Folks from what I can gather thier is indeed an interest in QTV, and may I go so far as to say there is a need, for gays and lesbians to have programing of thier own.

I agree. If we all spread the word, not only by calling our cable/sattelite companies, but also chatting with the common folk we'll make an impact and increase our chances of more $$blangers$$.

couch, that's a great find...so are we looking at soft launch on may 1st???? that would explain why we're dipping, somebody knows something we don't....GREAT NEWS!

No need to send me money, I am confident Frank Olsen will take care of that. I did notice that nobody had gone out and talked to the very people this network is supposed to be catering to. I took a chance and the response from the people I talked to was EXTREMELY enthusiastic! I am certain that it's just a matter of when..... NOT if, QTV will make a splash.
I look at it this way, if gays found interest in QTV in Flint, MI, imagine what it will be like in S.F. NYC. L.A. or Chicago, or any other Urban center? I am personally waiting to see what the subscriber base/rate is like before I start my exit strategy, but everyone else should follow thier own strategies/goals.
I have learned so much from everyone here, that I felt complelled to contribute back in some fashion I hope it helps.

Really exceptional find friend. I think if the soft launch is on May 1, this will give more interest and inspiration to all those who attend the show. Possibly a major PR the day before the show to draw attention to the possibly most important booth at the show (IMO)

I would say wait it out until mid morning. The stock seems to dp right before noon to 12:30 then rises. I noticed that Scottrade updates it's batch files around 12:45 pm or as they say between 1 -3pm. This is when money becomes available. I imagine many other brokerages are like this. My point is that the price seems to jump at the time money becomes available and people are at lunch, perhaps able to access and make trades?

A GUY SITTING AT A BAR ON MONDAY TALKING ABOUT THE GAME ON SUNDAY. WELL LO AND BEHOLD, THE COACH WALKS IN FROM THE GAME HE WAS WATCHING.
HEY COACH....
YEA....
THAT CALL YOU MADE YESTERDAY REALLY BLEW THE GAME.
YEA YOUR RIGHT. IF I COULD HAVE MADE THAT CALL TODAY AND SEEN WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY, I WOULD HAVE DONE IT DIFFERENTLY ALSO.
THIS QBID THREAD IS FULL OF CONFIDENT PEOPLE WHO KNOW (NOT THINK) THAT QBID IS ABOUT TO TAKE OFF.
I FOR ONE, IF I PLAYED THE BOUNCE FROM .025 AND SOLD AND THEN BOUGHT AGAIN AT .019 WOULD OF BEEN I THINK AROUND $70,000. NOW IF I PLAYED THE CURRENT BOUNCE OF .02 BACK DOWN TO .017 +/- I WOULD BE UP AROUND ANOTHER $70,000 OR SO. ADD FUEL TO THE FIRE, IF I PLAYED THE BOUNCE FROM THE CURRENT TREND OF .0198-.0185 ADD ANOTHER $15,000 EACH TIME IT DID THAT.
SO BY NOT PLAYING THE BOUNCE, I'M OUT LET'S SAY $180,000 AND STILL MAINTAINING THE AMOUNT OF SHARES I HAVE. WOW, THAT IS AWESOME FOR A PINKSHEET STOCK, WHERE WAS MY HEAD; RIGHT?
MY HEAD IS ON THAT THIS STOCK IS GONNA HIT THE STRATOSPHERE. SEE, THERE WAS NO WAY TO PREDICT THE BOUNCE EITHER UP OR DOWN AND IT'S SO EASY TO LOOK BACK AND "GOSH, I WISH I WOULD HAVE" BUT GUESS WHAT, I KNOW WHAT I HAVE IN MY ACCOUNT IS THERE. WHILE MY BELIEVE, MY KNOW IT'S GONNA HAPPEN, AND MY GUT TELLS ME THAT THIS STOCK IS GONNA GO UP UP UP, I HAVE NOT A CLUE ABOUT THE BOUNCE BOUNCE BOUNCE.
DON'T GET ME WRONG, WHEN IT DOES DROP, I DO BUY TO PLAY THE IMMEDIATE GAIN SINCE I KNOW IT'S GOING BACK UP. I GOT IN TODAY AT .016 KNOWING 100% AS FAR AS MY MONEY IS CONCERNED, A VERY EASY PROFIT/EXIT AT .0195. BUT I MYSELF WILL NOT PLAY QBID TO GO FROM .0195 TO .016 IN HOPES.
ESPECIALLY WITH A RAPID STOCK THAT COULD REALLY HAMMER YOU AT THE MOMENT IN THE NEAR FUTURE IT DECIDES THAT IT'S TIME TO FLY!
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO CAN TOLERATE THE BOUNCE, MORE POWER TO YA. GREAT TO HEAR. I'M NOT EVEN TRYING TO BE FUNNY WHEN I SAY THAT. I JUST ABSOLUTELY HOPE THAT NONE OF YOU BOUNCERS GET CAUGHT WITH YOUR PANTS DOWN AT THE WRONG TIME.
I KNOW IT'S GONNA GO UP. I KNOW IT'S GONNA GO DOWN. BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW IT'S GONNA GO UP AND DOWN AND I'LL LEAVE THAT RISK GAME TO THE REST OF YOU ALL.
I CAN ALWAYS LOOK BACK AND HATE THAT FACT THAT I'M NOT $180,000 RICHER. AS HARD AS THAT MAY BE; I THINK I'LL MAKE IT THOUGH!

===> 7 July 03: (Revised): There is evidence now, via persons communicating with TW, of TTN trying to arrange a first wave of simultaneous separate PRs issued through multiple local TW marketing units from around the country. ===> 27 June 03: Now prominently posted on Triangle's web sites: ON QBID SITE: <><> "Qbid takes Pride in the announcement of TTN, inc., in which Qbid has a vested interest, concerning their relationship with Time Warner Cable. For further information please see TTN's website at http://www.triangletelevisionnetwork.com " ... and ON TTN SITE: <><> "TTN PROUDLY ANNOUNCES A 10 YEAR NATIONAL CONTRACT WITH TIME WARNER CABLE. Target Cities and Launch Dates are currently being reviewed and will be announced soon. Watch For Further Announcements." <><> In the meantime, just two days ago a U.S. Supreme Court decision was handed down that overthrew Texas' anti sodomy law that was being used to discriminate against gay couples. And just a few days before that, Canada legalized same sex marriages. Certainly we are at a point in history where acceptance of gay rights is accelerating and is in the forefront of the news. Is the order and close timing of the above events a complete coincidence, or is there something more going on here? The scope and (arguably) almost urgent tone of TTN's post sure seems to be signaling the possiblity that TW has now abruptly entered a "get TTN on the air around the country without delay" mode.
===> 23 June 03: PR on 24 or 25 JUNE? Two callers reaching separate people at the company, and reporting on another board, are told there might be a PR tomorrow or Wednesday. Huge volume uptick today to over 97 million shares; price jump at end of day to close at $0.0002!
===> 21 June 03: IMPORTANT POSITIVE BREAKTHROUGH HAS APPARENTLY BEEN REACHED WITH TW IN ONLY LAST DAY OR TWO that will permit the release of considerably more information on the contractual relationship between TW and TTN. A PR may come out the week of 23 June that could reveal this relationship publicly for the first time. If so, the PR will likely also reveal fresh evidence of TW's attempts to get TTN launched at the first opportunity. This could finally mark the beginning of very exciting times for TTN (and for QBID Shareholders). Question:...Could news a couple of days ago proclaiming that same sex marriages in Canada are now legal have anything to do with what is happening?
Troubled history for gay cable channel efforts (Compiled by Matthew A. Hennie)
APRIL | 2000 The Palm Springs, Calif.-based Gay Television Network says it will debut Oct. 1 with a 12-hour-a-day programming schedule and offerings to include gay-themed films, a morning talk show, music videos and a program on early gay activism in Los Angeles and New York. The debut moves to November when GTN-parent company Triangle Multi-Media can’t reach an agreement with a satellite provider to offer the channel on a subscription basis.
NOVEMBER | 2000 Launch plans for Gay Television Network again delayed.
JANUARY | 2001 Officials with the Gay Television Network reschedule the channel’s launch to Jan. 23, then move it again to Feb. 2, on the Dish Network. Dish later says the announcement of an agreement with GTN is premature. GTN called the digital satellite provider "homophobic."
MARCH | 2001 The Gay Television Network changes the name of its gay cable channel to Triangle Television Network and reworks its advertising campaign after company officials say its satellite provider raises concerns about using the word "gay" in the channel’s name.
SEPTEMBER | 2001 Triangle Television Network misses its Sept. 5 launch, the fifth one the network has announced since November 2000.
Canadian broadcast regulators order Shaw Communications to offer PrideVision, a new digital specialty channel launched by Headline Media Group, making it that nation’s first gay-themed television channel. Network offerings include a sports comedy, a call-in sex advice show, a fitness and lifestyle show, and late-night erotica.
JANUARY | 2002 Viacom properties Showtime and MTV announce they will research the viability of a gay-oriented network. Later, informal advisory panels met in several U.S. cities, including Atlanta. Panel members say a spring 2003 launch date is discussed, and an internal Viacom memo leaked on the Internet says the channel has the working name Outlet. Viacom officials refuse to comment. PrideVision announces plans to expand into U.S. markets. Canadian subscribers reach about 20,000 later in the year, though the network says it needs 200,000 to become profitable.
APRIL | 2002 Triangle Television Network apparently inks an agreement with Dish Network to carry the channel, but a launch date is not announced and the effort again stalls.
DECEMBER | 2002 Headline Media Group, the parent company of PrideVision, slashes the network’s staff amid budget problems. The company says it has reached an affiliation agreement with a U.S. cable operator to allow the negotiation of carriage agreements.
JULY | 2003 PrideVision, a gay cable channel based in Canada, announces July 12 that it is available through Largo Communications, a satellite distributor in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
DECEMBER | 2003 Viacom resurrects plans for Outlet, its proposed gay-themed channel, after placing plans for the concept on hold earlier in the year. *************** Well it is 2004, it is time. We will launch. All this time spent setting everything up, contracts in place, booth at the ntca show, carriers, advertisers, funding, target audience with a 500Billion dollar *budget*. All we have to do is launch. I believe we will!

you won't get caught with your pants down if you have three day's worth of funds in your account to buy back in every time the price moves. plus i don't think anyone out there trades their entire position at a time. 500k at a time, that's less risky. plus all us crybabies don't want to give up our 0.0008 average buy in price. ;-)

the thing that bothers me is the soft launch from what I have read (but can't recall where) says that they will only be showing 1 hour runs, I guess giving networks a feel for them. Maybe to get some response. It is not a full launch. But maybe I am wrong... anyone else know the details off hand?

WE'RE IN A BOUNCE PATTERN AND AS YOU ALREADY KNOW. WE ALL KNOW MY STANCE ON THE BOUNCE.
I WILL SAY:
A RUN TO .22-.25 WOULD NOT SURPRIZE ME. I DO EXPECT TO HIT .0195 SOMETIME THROUGHOUT THE DAY TO DUMP WHAT I BOUGHT TODAY AT .016.
A DROP BELOW .015 WOULD SURPRIZE ME.
A CLOSE TOMORROW OF .017+/- WOULD NOT SURPRIZE ME.
HOW DO I COME TO THESE FIGURES YOU ASK?
I DUNNO!
NEXT WEEK IS ONE WEEK CLOSER, THAT I DO KNOW FOR SURE!

A stock buyback, also known as a share repurchase, is a company's plan to buy back its own shares from the marketplace. You can think of a buyback as a company investing in itself, using its cash to buy shares. The idea is simple: since a company can't "own itself," the buyback reduces the number of outstanding shares on the market.
Buybacks can be carried out in two ways:
1) Shareholders may be presented with a tender offer whereby they have the option to submit (or tender) a portion or all of their shares within a certain time frame and at usually a price higher than the current market level.
2) Companies can buy shares on the open market over a long-term period.
In many ways a buyback is similar to a dividend because the company is distributing money to shareholders. An advantage buybacks have over dividends is that they are taxed at a lower capital-gain tax rate whereas a dividend is taxed at ordinary income tax rates. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- current o/s is 7,500,000,000, @ $1 per share, the company would be worth $7.5B reduce 50% of the o/s, you have $3,750,000,000 shares outstanding. @ $1 per share that is $3.75B
I don't post much here, mostly read and keep up with the info, but here is my 2 cents worth.
If that article is correct then they are going to do a uplink/downlink to the convention or make it canned(prerecorded video tape)and carry it to the convention.
Either way there are 1001 things that must be absolutely correct to pull this off. That said they must be shaking the bugs out of the equiptment now so that all is good when the convention is on and there are no problems.
As the National Show draws closer, add more names to the growing list of new services that will vie for the attention of operators as they stroll (or duck?) around the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. The latest contestants:
BlueHighways TV: Stan Hitchcock is heading back to cable with a country music-flavored lifestyle network that expands on his groundbreaking work at CMT. A sneak peek of his diginet is now available on Galaxy 11 transponder 21.
Destiny Channel: Touting "Big Ideas, Bigger Entertainment" and "Thought as Sport," the college-based programmer wants a bigger (launch) pad off-campus by Q4 2005. Programming focus is personal growth, ethics and spirituality for the 18-to-34 demo.
Film Festival Channel: Don't be fooled by imitations: FFCTV president Lisa Henschel's network (ffctv.com), now amassing indie titles and original shows for an '04 launch, bears no relation to Steven Schneider's service with a similar URL (filmfestivalchannel.org). A cease-and-desist order is in the works, she says; Schneider could not be reached for comment.
Hustler TV: Offering a 50-hour adult VOD package (launching 4/04) with 50% refresh rate; PPV launch by summer offers three-hour or six-hour blocks. Touting over 25 double-X to triple-X titles monthly; original programming such as hard-core reality shows Can You Be a Porn Star? and Reel Joe; and cross-promotion with namesake magazine, clubs and casinos.
MavTV: Premium channel (or sports tier add-on) featuring uncensored and uncut men's programming. Eyeing a Q3 launch, Mav'rick Entertainment Network is now available as a preview on the same transponder as BlueHighways; VOD will add exclusive original content.
Real Hip-Hop Network: Concert promoters Antonn Muhammad and Bryan Tucker have a distribution deal with OlympuSat for their start-up service featuring hip-hop music, culture, history and politics. Aimed at 18 to 34 year olds, but more family-friendly than rivals 1AM or H.Y.P.E. TV.
Triangle TV Network: Premium service for gay and lesbian viewers hopes to have a 24-hour preview available May 1 with Network Teleports, and just hired Steve Grunberg to oversee programming and acquisitions.
