Banks may sell debt after good earnings
10:32a ET January 20, 2010 (MarketWatch)
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- With the bulk of major U.S. banks having finished reporting their quarterly results, "we just may be about to see the 'financials' descend upon the market to raise capital at relatively attractive levels," said Ken Jaques, credit and derivatives manager at Informa Global Markets. The amount of yield over Treasury rates that banks such as Goldman Sachs have to pay has shrunk dramatically from last year, Jaques said. Current spreads are even smaller than what banks paid on debt that was effectively guaranteed by the government through the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. "With $78.592 billion already priced this month and another $7 billion expected to price today, there's a distinct possibility that we could see another $100 billion-issuance month and maybe even more," he said. Bank of America , Wells Fargo and Morgan Stanley reported results Wednesday, following Citigroup this week.

Interesting....so FAZ/SKF might crash the Hummer and trade it in for a Lambo.

Just planning on having something to sell Thursday. Going to dump it around $5.90s just to make $160 or so. I think it looks like a easy flip...down today...up tomorrow. But it is peaking out a bit so not going to push the label too much you know.

BBQ chicken sounds so good right now...off to get some before work.

RAJ...too late...i dont think so...with what is comming in the next few weeks and also just about as good as news reported by any company i have seen in a long time..we are looking at a really realistic posibility for over a buck in a very short time frame and that my friend is over 30%..the risk/reward factor is most certainly leaning toward the reward at this point...but i been touting all the 20+ bullish reasons why this is not your ordinary penny stock..IMHO...i promise not to rant about SIRI any longer...BTW..i just added to my YRCW long at .875...its the time to be scaling the wall of worry...buy the dips and sell the rips

I agree Morph. Another point to consider here is that SIRI is up right now on a very RED day overall on the excellent news. Wait until we see a few green days. I think SIRI will be at $1.00 before long as well.

It definately depends on the type of trader. I like to hold for at least a few days usually, sometimes months, but I daytrade some as well. If I do a quick flip I love to buy something good at the EOD if the price is right and sell early the next day. Same concept as a daytrade but technically not one, so you avoid the daytrading rules. I highly recommend you experiment with different types of trading though. If I look back at my trades over the last year, I could have easily made $50,000 plus more than I did if I would have held my winners longer.

FYI....Sell order is set for $6.25. That is a $0.54 gain x 800. Not sure what your looking for but wanted you to know since your on the same train I'm on.

Also, T sell order is set at $27.50. Will likely sell slightly over $26 but if I don't see any easy plays like today and the other day. I may hold it longer.

Market moves down basically 200 points then closes down 120 points. I'm thinking it will be a green day today. How about market climbs 75 points.

DEAR Bill....you really sucked today as a trader my DEAR. Next time your feel DEARLY, make sure you show more respect to your DEAR money maker. (Had to rub it in my face for screwing up and not holding it longer). What gets me is this...I watched the L2 on this intensely and saw that once it broke $1.35....the next sell order price was $1.49. Then I got greedy and wanted it to break that $1.49 and it seems to tank back to $1.38 so kept chasing it and dumped $1.41. 10 minutes later it was at $2.13. WTH!!! Also, note to self...don't be such a cheap ass and just buy it at ask. [BadOne]

Ohh...Smokey Bones was all out of BBQ chicken. That was disappointing. Strange that a restraunt that has chicken as 1/3 of their menu is all out. [Confused]

Lets see....China Cyber attacks, democrat lost his seat, healthcare bill dead now, surplus in natural gas reserves, China is giving problems to exports...aluminum if I remember right, that HERO guy saying banks and wall street gets bonuses, why not lower everyone principles on their mortages. Speaking of that....I think everyone should be able to have an appraisal on their homes and get a 1 time write off on the loss or lower their principle. I have watched people stack money up and get loans and get forclosed...move out then when their house goes on the market, buy it back for 10-20% of what they owed. Not a bad deal there. Didn't they blame the huge inflation of the housing market on the banking/financing companies?

This sucks dudes. I have to admit, I actually voted for Obama. I am starting to regret it.

On a brighter note, this should make for some real nice buying opportunities. It's just a matter of when to buy. It's hard to predict when the onslaught will end.
