By: vernonkoenig 17 Nov 2004, 02:22 AM EST Msg. 2318 of 2802 Jump to msg. # I think it is time for me to speak up. My name is Vern Koenig and I am the designer of the Stratellite platform. This first vehicle is a scaled down test bed and is now in the primary construction phase. Our scheduled completion date will be the end of January. The sub-assemblies are being produced in Southern California and will be trucked to the former George Air Force Base in Victorville, California for final assembly. It is anticipated that we will conduct the first test flights at Edwards Air Force Base. The reason for this is because we need to test in an area with little or no air traffic to worry about. In addition, this vehicle is a robot and we must demonstrate that the vehicle is fully controllable before we can proceed with the test schedule. The entire area around Edwards is Restricted Airspace and ideal for our purposes. It is the same site where Starship 1 went into space.
This particular bird is 84 feet in length, 68 feet wide and approximately 64 feet in height at the fins. She isn't as pretty as the actual Stratellite. In fact, she's a little pudgy. This vehicle is in answer to questions raised by major investors: 1. Can you get a system up that high and, 2. Will it work? The answer to both questions is: YES
We won't go quite as high with the first bird. We are engineering for flight between 50 - 60 thousand feet. Most of the operating conditions at that altitude will be nearly the same as at 65,000 feet. The temperature remains a comfy -67.9F.
Tim Huff settled on the 50 - 60K foot altitude because we can build a smaller, less costly test bed. Your money hasn't gone to waste with this vehicle. It has saleability in other areas because it can fly at any altitude up to its pressure celing.
Now another word about Huff: He told me that this vehicle would be fully funded and he put his money where his mouth was. The money is in the bank and I have the checkbook. The only delays we've had are getting materials in a timely manner. We order large quantities of material and often exhaust the suppliers inventory. Then we get stuck waiting for another production run or try to find another supplier.
Another problem we have is space. This vehicle is quite large and we are forced to build it in smaller sub-assemblies in a 50 x 50 foot hangar. George AFB has large hangars and we are negotiating with the county to sub-lease a portion of one of these huge hangars. In one hangar, it is large enough to put 4 747 jetliners under one roof. And, the rent is astronomical. So, we rented the present hangar for $950/month until the end of January when we relocate to George AFB. Another portable hangar is being moved to GAFB from Bakersfield. Again, we only need a part of it. General Electric (engine division) may take it and might agree to sublet a portion to us on a temporary basis. We are still pursuing that. The other option we are pursuing is to get hangar space at Edwards and bypass GAFB altogether.
The actual Stratellite will also be built as sub-assemblies and shipped to the customers (worldwide) for final assembly by Sanswire technicians at their launch sites. These airships will assemble like a chlds' TinkerToy set. Take part A and bolt to part B. It is anticipated that the actual bird can be assembled and ready to fly within 30-45 days of delivery.
I hope I don't get into trouble for writing this. But, I think that shareholders are entitled to know what is going on. Most companies give the shareholders the Mushroom Treatment (keep them in the dark and feed them lots of BS). Not me. I believe in keeping people informed. I can't discuss any business dealings largely because I am here in California and Sanswire is back east. Huff wants me focused on the airship and that is exactly what I am doing.
The bottom line is that we are all in this together. Failure is not an option. We are here to WIN and will do so. What I need most from you is your trust in me.

I got my 5k tied up in MCEL right now.
Even if I sell all my shares of MCEL today, Ameritrade says I have to wait 3 days to get my 5k back!! grrr
do all brokers have this "hold" time?
P -- that 3-day wait time is actually from the date of your PURCHASE of MCEL -- i have Ameritrade as well. If you bought on the 5th and sell on the 6th, then you have access on the 8th (3 days from the 5th) -- if you sell on the 8th or later - you should have immediate access. This is as i understand it. hope that helps
So according to him, If I have held a stock for a good amount of time (over the 3 days) and sell out now, I will be able to immediately use those funds to buy another stock but I'll have to hold this new stock for atleast 3 days before I do anything with it. Is this correct, can anyone please confirm this? Also I am using Ameritrade. I wanna get in now but if I sell some of my other stocks and still can't use that money immediately, then that'd be kinda bad. Thanks

I'm not sure about Ameritrade (I use Scottrade) but I would think most brokerages are equal: I have sold stocks one day, and used the funds from that sale to purchase other stocks on that same day, once you made that sale, you need to hold onto the new stock for 3 days (the settlement period) before you can sell the new stock, unless you have enough settled funds in your account. Anyway, you should contact Ameritrade for advice, then get into MSEP as soon as you can.

Hold on to this one -- I've been looking at the charts and talking to the company and i really believe it will reach $1.00 after the big news breaks (FAA approval). Hang on and be wise. IMHO ---

Speaking of margin accounts, I guess Scottrade works differently than Ameritrade. Scottrade doesn't allow you to avoid the 3-day wait. IMO, another reason to go with Ameritrade (along with avoiding that 1/2% commission charge on trades).
Hope that makes everything a little clearer.

Just waiting for news...If you have ever had to be involved with any government agency you know that you have to be patient when waiting for an inspection or results of an inspection.
GTEL was very sure of their schedule so I am sure they put room into it to await inspection results. I am sure they knew they would not have an answer the same day the inspections happened. And there could be things that have to be corrected before they pass.
