When do you draw the line between racism and mere facts such as crime statistics?

There is only one cure for a racist attitude, anyway this worked for me,I like all the white kids where I grew up were racist.Anyway the cure for me was to be forceed to live with the people that I disliked for no reason and education that made you under stand why racim exist today.

Don't know about "forced" environments, per se...

for instance, I know some military types who only had their stereotypes reinforced, not pleasantly.

But for me? Athletics played a huge role. That doesn't explain, however, that we were forced together--because some guys never got over their prejudices. For me, though, it was great. I learned more, just for example, from black guys about how to be a receiver than any of my coaches ever taught me. I learned the most about basketball from a white guy a few years' older, who had played on the Air Force Championship team from about '67 or so--think he didn't know about "diversity"? I learned about soccer nearly as much as I taught from Hispanic, innner-city, at-risk kids.

I guess what I'm saying is, if you're willing to learn, you will...

IN my case Tex I learned that we had more in comon than differences. Be fore I knew it I was not seeing black any more I was seeing green the green that we all wore. The next step for me was education and understaning how racism started in this country and why it was promoted then I understood.
And let me be perfectly honest with you a blsck person has never done one bad thing to me and if they did would that be a reason to blame the whole African American community.

I came from poverty and its not pretty what it does to people wether you are white, black or brown it is the same and it is hard to change.

you heard a black man critisize a white man and you were (racially) offended.

it's plain as day.

Critized unjustly by the President of the United States, that does raise a few red flags.

Now i will tell you some thing eles raising my children in a open minded and none racist household I can tell you this my kids don't have a racist bone in there body. this just needs to happen everywhere. But it only can change through awareness and working on passing that awareness down. And maybe one day in the future people will be free of this sickness

I agree with you RB, the solution for racism is a two way street though. Both sides must understand what it is that promotes fear in one another.

nope, not unjustly. it is settled law. it is NOT illegal to be rude to police.

it is stupid.

i have even seen interviews of Police Academy (in CT no less) training staff since this incident explain that noone teaches that arresting someone for being rude is OK.

we give police a tool called disorderly conduct.

it leaves a lot of discretion to make an arrest.

in this case the police themselves recomended to the DA to drop the charges.

if this had gone to court? there are dozens of civil lawyers that would have jumped all over the cop.

First you do a year to two years of schooling.

Then you go to academy...

Then if you don't wash out you are a 'peace' officer and have the credentials necessary to be hired as a police officer and are are put on the auction block where you choose if you want to prove yourself on overnights in the city or on days in podunk-ville.

But that is up here in MN. Some states do not require you to be a certified 'peace' officer to be hired as a policeman.

Sheriff is an elected position so that may well be the case here as well. But good luck trying to get a majority to vote for you without any experience on your resume.

This really, really pisses me of that I have to remember what I posted cuz dumbass CHARTER internet is so unreliable in a storm...

but here goes: The problem with most cops is that they are bullies. My best man at my second wedding (married 20 years) said it best: "If you wanna be a cop? You're disqualified."

Why is that? What does that mean?

It means that we have lost the concept of the PEACE OFFICER.

Ask yourself this question: Do I *really* want to see flashing lights in my mirror?

Do I expect to encounter a Peace Officer?

Or a bully?

I know what you are saying.....

You must reside in county that is fairly large in comparison with mine.....by that I mean that you have media outlets (more than a weekly paper) within you community.

In rural areas.....you simply need to be known.....or have the right last name.

Glass,

You recently moved to redneck'a'cana.......wanna testify for me?

Three advertisers drop Glenn Beck over his claim that President Obama is a ‘racist.’
Last week, Fox News host Glenn Beck called President Obama a “racist” with a “a deep-seated hatred for white people.” In response, ColorOfChange called on its members to tell Beck’s advertisers to drop his show over his race-baiting. ColorOfChange announced today that three advertisers have said that they are dropping Beck:

Three companies who run ads during Glenn Beck — NexisLexis-owned Lawyers.com, Procter & Gamble and Progressive Insurance — today distanced themselves from Beck. LexisNexis has pulled its advertising from Beck and says it has no plans to advertise on the program in the future. Both Procter & Gamble and Progressive Insurance called the Beck advertising placements an error that they would correct.

The decision by the three companies comes as over 45,000 ColorofChange.org members call on advertisers to pull their ads from Glenn Beck after the controversial news host called President Obama a “racist” who “has a deep-seated hatred for white people” on “Fox & Friends” last week.

Beck Jokes About ‘Military Tribunals For All Those Currently Serving In Washington’
On his radio show today, Fox News host Glenn Beck interviewed Kentucky Senate candidate Rand Paul, the son of Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX), gauging how he fit his “checklist of things” that he wants in a politician. After asking Paul about abortion and health care, Beck asked with a laugh, “What do you think about military tribunals for all those currently serving in Washington?”:

BECK: What do you think about — I’m just going down the checklist of things that I want in a politician. What do you think about military tribunals for all those currently serving in Washington [laughing].

PAUL: You got me there. You know, the other thing we could do for healthcare is I think instead of having their great health care plan they all should have to go to the VA.

BECK: I think so, too. Seriously, about the military tribunals. Look, the reason why I asked that question — I’m not asking it seriously yet — what I would like to know is how do you propose to stay uncorrupted?

Continuing his penchant for doomsday fearmongering, Beck posited that the Obama administration might be “building an exoskeleton around our republic.” “They are feasting on it,” said Beck. “And when it can’t handle it anymore, they overwhelm that system, the exoskeleton will kick in and we’ll have a new transformative moment here in America.” Paul then took Beck’s paranoia up a notch by comparing the present moment to the rise of Hitler:

PAUL: I don’t need the job. I want to do it for a period of time because I’m worried about our country. I’m worried about the deficit and what it will do. I’m also, ultimately I’m not a doomsday sayer, but I worry about in Germany, in 1923 when they destroyed their currency out of that arose a Hitler. And I think when you have chaos, if you have economic chaos, you end up getting things that you don’t want sometimes, you know? And we have to be very careful that we don’t rewrite our Constitution or throw it out completely and we don’t get some kind of strong leader that’s going to help us or keep us from ourselves. And I think that happens in times of chaos. And I think we’re in danger of that with the level of deficit we have now.

Beck agreed, but thought that he didn’t go far enough. “I think we are in more than just danger of that. I think that is the road we’re on, if we’re not careful,” said Beck. “We’re headed towards — we’re repeating the Weimar republic almost to a T.” Listen here:

Geico pulls its ads from Glenn Beck’s Fox News show.
Fox News host Glenn Beck has been under fire in recent weeks for his comments that President Obama is a “racist” with “a deep-seated hatred for white people.” Since ColorOfChange called on its members to urge Beck’s advertisers to drop his show, three advertisers have pulled out. Today, ColorOfChange announced that Geico Insurance is joining them:

“On Tuesday, August 4, GEICO instructed its ad buying service to redistribute its inventory of rotational spots on FOX-TV to their other network programs, exclusive of the Glenn Beck program,” said a spokesperson for GEICO Corporate Communications in an email to ColorOfChange.org. “As of August 4, GEICO no longer runs any paid advertising spots during Mr. Beck’s program.“

No difference between Beck and Olberman. Only difference is one loves Obama and one doesnt. If I Wanted to waste the time im sure I could do research and pull up a bunch of lies, misleads, and just plain ol hot air off transcripts from MSNBC.

New Hampshire right-wing protestor suggests sending ‘illegals’ home with a ‘bullet in their head.’
The New Hampshire Republican Volunteer Coalition urged its members to make their voices heard today in Portsmouth, NH outside of a high school where President Obama was discussing health care reform. Sure enough, right-wing protesters came out not just in protest of health care, but also furiously offering the suggestion that undocumented immigrants should be sent back to their home countries with “a bullet in their head.”

“Why are we bankrupting this country for 21 million illegals who should be sent on the first bus one way back from wherever they come from. We don’t need illegals. Send them home once. Send them home with a bullet in their head the second time. Read what Jefferson said about the Tree of Liberty — it’s coming baby.”
Right-wing protesters have been inspiring each other by referencing this 1787 quote by Thomas Jefferson: “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” One Portsmouth protester also held a sign which read “It Is Time To Water The Tree Of Liberty.”

Apparently someone at the White House listens to Beck...

http://hotair.com/archives/2009/08/03/beck-declares-victory-cash-for-clunkers-we bsite-changes-terms-of-use/

Beck declares victory: Cash for Clunkers website changes terms of use

No surprise that they changed it. The language about your computer becoming government property once you log onto the site went way over the line into Orwellville.....

Haven't been able to find what they changed it to though.

That's entirely possible. If said companies think that they will lose more money having ads on his program than they will gain they should pull them. But playing Devil's Advocate, they shouldn't be surprised by these (and other) comments unless they didn't know who his target audience was when they took out the spots in the first place.

So, the Gov allowed CITI to create binding contractual user agreements without knowing anything about it. No 'final approval' needed for the finished product?

i'm not here to reassure anybody. just trying to cut thru the paranoid BS.

the govt is SUPPOSED to contract to the lowest bidder, that always leaves some things to be desired.

people like beck and limbugger know what they are doing.

the boilerplate that was put on there was most likely designed to detect fraud, which we all know will happen, and hackers.

the right to life movement doesn't condone murdering health care professionals does it?
but they create the murderers anyway with the rhetoric.

the paranoia in this country seems to be getting worse and worse, and i am actually interested in conspiracy theories...
of course your not paranoid if they really are out to get you(r money) right?
