The NY Black Knights of The Hockey Farm Join The World Hockey Association's Junior A Eastern Division
Jun 18, 2007 9:00:00 AM
VANCOUVER, BC -- (MARKETWIRE) -- 06/18/07 -- The World Hockey Association (PINKSHEETS: WHKA) announces that The Hockey Farm, a prestigious hockey academy located in New York State, will be putting the NY Black Knights franchise on the ice as part of the WHA's new Junior A Eastern Division. The Hockey Farm will be holding two sets of Junior A tryouts July 12-15 and July 19-22.

The Hockey Farm is a small school in upstate New York which provides its enrollees with an outstanding academic education as well as a superior hockey program which is designed to develop the athlete's skills to an unparalleled level. The student body is made up of elite hockey players from around the globe.

The Hockey Farm's NY Black Knights are the fourth franchise to enter the WHA's newly created Eastern Division and are the first team from the United States to have been accepted to the division. The WHA Eastern Division is expected to have a minimum of seven to nine teams when the 2007-2008 hockey season gets underway.

WHA CEO Ricky Smith commented, "Every time we think we cannot hope to equal our last new franchise announcement, we surprise ourselves. The Hockey Farm is all about excellence in the classroom and highly developed hockey skills on the ice. The academy puts its players through a program designed to help its athletes reach NCAA Division I. We expect the Black Knights will consistently force our other franchises to be at the top of their games or to suffer the consequences. The Hockey Farm's NY Black Knights are a welcome addition to the WHA Junior A League's Eastern Division structure."

About The Hockey Farm:

The Hockey Farm is located in Norfolk, NY and operates with the following stated objectives:

1) To provide elite student-athletes with a hockey-specific developmental
program over a 10-month training regimen designed to help the
student-athlete reach their goals ... a career as a NCAA Division I
hockey player.
2) To provide a unique and comprehensive academic program that gives the
elite student-athlete the preparation, tools, support and encouragement
to achieve academic excellence and pursue a university education.
3) To provide the elite student-athlete with life skills that allows him
or her to develop into a socially well adjusted, focused and
goal-oriented adult.
4) Through working with our academic advisors and councilors, to help the
elite student-athlete identify and explore their goals -- both on and
off the ice, and develop the foundation, maturity and personal life
skills that will allow them to pursue these goals.
5) To prepare the elite student-athlete for life after hockey.
For more information on The Hockey Farm, please visit their website at: www.thehockeyfarm.org/index.php

About the World Hockey Association:

The World Hockey Association created the WHA Hockey League to promote the sport of hockey. The WHA Hockey League is the successful combination of hockey and education & will create opportunities for the talented student-athletes 15-20 years of age to showcase their skills in a highly competitive environment.

The WHA is staffed and operated by committed career professionals and hockey legends such as WHA League Commissioner Bobby Hull, Managing Director of Hockey Operations, Butch Goring, and Head Coach and General Manager of the 2006-2007 WHA Season Champion New West Minster Whalers, Garry Unger, among others.

The single most important element of the WHA is the successful combination of hockey and education. Players in the WHA are expected to treat their academic education as a priority equal to their athletic development. Each team is expected to combine a high level of competition with a commitment to education.

With a schedule of more than 50 games, practice time, off-ice conditioning and public appearances, players should be well prepared for their next level of hockey, whether it is at the college, university, or professional level.

The 2007-2008 season will feature a transformation to Junior A Hockey and a significant expansion. The result will find the WHA firmly established in British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec and the Northwestern United States.

Philosophy of the WHA Junior A Hockey League:

The WHA Junior A Hockey League is expected to become the pinnacle of the skill development program. WHA Junior Hockey is for players who seek a greater or difficult challenge than that which might be available through their, high school varsity or club team, area midget or other junior teams.

The principal purpose of the WHA junior development program is to prepare the athlete for career advancement either in a collegiate or professional opportunity. This objective can be accomplished by virtue of the following:

1) By providing considerable training time and quality coaching.
2) By providing players with a healthy, constructive environment in which
to develop socially.
3) By providing assistance and opportunities for the accomplishment of the
participant's educational goals.
In short, the WHA works to provide players with exposure to collegiate recruiters and professional scouts, and to encourage educational advancement.

found this info on another board:

The court case is looking better and better! The judge in the case if asking that the lawyers for Nexus and GDVM explain why they want to withdraw as representatives for Nexus. The Briner Goons are about to find themselves in one heck of a pickle in the court case. This is far from over.

law.com just wrote a big article about the Nexus lawyer, Phillip Offil, who created Nexus for Briner. It looks like the SEC is suing him for other supposed stock scams.
