I have watched some PRIDE fights as well, I believe it has been on the USA network a few times. PRIDE is worldwide!

The thing I'm having trouble with is this: how hard can it possibly be for a network like TFN to sell their sh*t to U.S. carriers? What is the hold up and what is the problem?
I could give two craps about mixed martial arts, but even I see the enormous potential of TFN. America is filled with millions of white trash rednecks that would fork over good money to watch dudes kick the feces out of each other. Personally, I think this stuff is rather homo-erotic and I think the trailer trolls secretly get off on it, but that's just my opinion.
Anyway, even a blithering idiot would see the major money making potential of TFN in America. So why can't Winnick and Garrow make it happen? Somebody's going to beat them to America. Somebody with more than half a brain cell is going to steal their thunder and piss in their Cherrios... mark my words... I just hope they go public!!!

I think you underestimate the audience for this stuff. If you have seen any UFC fights, the audience is full of "blue state, commie" A-list actor types. Clooney, Mike Clark Duncan, Carmen Electra, etc... are regular attendees. This thing will eventually replace boxing. It is a physical chess match.

TFN should be promoting their PPV events in US to get the ball rolling. The PPV will create the demand for the 24 hour channel.

I'm not underestimating the audience. I'm saying there is a HUGE U.S. audience, it's a no-brainer for U.S. carriers, and I think some other company is going to beat Winnick to the punch unless they get their sh*t together.
I'm sure 7 out of 10 trailer dwellers would subscribe to TFN. I'm sure the Natural Light Ice guzzling rednecks will be all over this homo-erotic stuff. All of the Zeds and Maynards in America will be creaming their pants over TFN.
I'm just struggling trying to believe it's this incredibly difficult for Winnick to secure U.S. contracts. U.S. carriers should be beating down Winnicks door to carry his network... something's not adding up with BKMP.

This is a great point. There are lots of world class fighters who are not under contract with the UFC/Pride etc. The only exposure alot of these guys get is in tournaments like the Abu Dhabi (Equivalent of the World Cup of Soccer) If TFN could put together a Jungle Fight PPV that featured a few of these underground fighters every MMA publication, website and sponsor would be all over it.

Jucifer, although I believe you are correct in saying that white trash follows UFC, but my feeling tells me that white trash isn't the biggest followers of UFC. Like what Max stated above, just look at the live audience at UFC fights. Other than the fighters friends and family, all you see is people with big names. Many of them are famous actors, musicians, pro athletes, etc... In other words people with a lot of money. I can't remember where I read it, but I remember reading where Shaq asked that UFC reschedule one of their events because he wasn't going to be able to be in two places at one time. Probably requested it with sarcasm, but still, that just shwos how much these guys/girls follow it.
Ever priced a ticket to go to a live UFC event? It's not cheap.

Look, we all see celebs at fights. That's been going on since the 1920's. So what? Celebs are a miniscule fraction of U.S. citizens, they are a small segment of society. And so are non-celeb rich folk.
I don't think you're understanding me... I'm saying there is an ungodly massive market in the U.S. for combative sports. And this massive market is the MAJORITY - the rednecks and trailer scamps who have inbred in all areas of America.
The celebs like it and the toothless pig f*ckers like it. So what's the hold up with TFN? I think Winnick is a tard. TFN would be such an easy sell to U.S. carriers. There's got to be more to this story that we don't know about... maybe these U.S. carriers don't want to deal with Winnick for financial or legal reasons???

I've lived and currently live amongst the white trash community. I have no problem with these folks. I'm just calling it like it is... just calling a spade a spade. There's nothing wrong with that.
There's tons of Zeds and Maynards (i.e. Pulp Fiction) that would literally kill for TFN. They love that homo-erotic stuff. Personally, I would like to see an all chic combative network - mud wrestling, oil wrestling, prison fights, cat fights, etc. But that's just one straight man's opinion...

Jucifer, everybody is a person from different backgrounds and life styles. I'm good with that as long as somebody isn't sticking a gun in my side to rob me or do any other bodily harm. Theres obviously a certain fondness for some form of violence in anybody that enjoys the TFN type programming.

Asians invented most of these fighting styles and probably are the most passionate about the events. Is he gonna start using racial slurs against Asians next? Racial slurs say more about the class of the person that uses them, than the person they are used against.
