"shorting" a stock - any stock -- is not intrinsically bad; not as a practice or for the price. Obviously, when a person "shorts" an issue, they are betting their money that the stock price will go down in the future. If you get enough people arriving at that same conclusion and willing to back it up with their money, then it is likely that the overall opinionn of the issue is poor, and the value will actually go down.
Just like when you have a majority of the people buying, the price goes up, when ou have a lot of people shorting, the price might go down. Although buys directly drive the price of an issue up, shorts do not necessarily drive the price down.
Retail Short selling, then, doesn't really have anything to do with the price of beans in China. If there are a lot os short positions in an issue, that is just an indication that a lot of people think the issue is going down, and are willing to back it up with money. There is nothing wrong with short positions at all. These types of shorts are not done in the pinks, are not done in overly volitile issue on the boards, and are not available for stocks that are on their way down. In order to open a retail short position, the last tick must be up in order to pervent masses of people from opening short positions on stocks that are already falling. Given the inherent risk and volitility of the pinks, no one deaqls with retail shorts.
So retail short positions are not what we are tlking about when we are talking about pinks...
Pinks deal with unreporting companies -- many of which the OS and float are not given or easily tracked. Nobody actually gets certificates any more...is there any way to actually PROVE that you own xxxxx shares of ABC without going to your brokerage account?
Ahh, so now we get to the meat of this story... Naked shorts. Let's say you are a market maker for a pink issue - there are millions and millions of these virtual shares going around all the time, but no one really knows what they are buying and selling. What's the harm, you might ask yourself, if I get an order for some of these, but don't have the shares to sell, so I just take the order anyway? I'll just take the money, and then when the price goes down and people start selling, I will have the shares I need to cover this purchase. If the price goes up, I can just pull it back down to shake up some sales and still get the shares I need to cover this guy's purchase... hmmm
So "naked shorting" is the proces of which a person sells shares to someone they don't actually have. Until that "short" is covered, there are actually more shares of a company owned than actually exist. Since the very people who control the price of an issue are the ones who do this practice, it can be very deterimental to the price of an issue.
On the baords, the exact number of shares oustanding and float is much more closely watched, and naked shorting is not nearly as much of an issue. Down here in the pinks -- well that's a different story. It is prevalent and widespread. Until a company is stable and large enough to hit the boards, they just have to deal with not only the scrutiny of investors bu the manipulation of the issue by the market makers. You see it all the time -- the price of an issue will drop 20% or more on 50 share trades, then a massive transfer, then back up to where it was on 50 share trades. Hmmm..
So down here in Pinkyland, the people we talk to in this forum are not the ones who are involved in shorting as its known here. There is no retail shorting here, and it wouldn't impact the price anyway. There is no way a retail accountholder can naked short an issue unless they are in collusion with their broker and their broker is in collusion with the market maker.
"short selling" -- benign practice done every day on the big boards. Not fdone on the pinks.
"naked shorting" -- done in Pinkyland by market makers to get rich quick -- not a practice available to the retail account holder.
Two totally different things that just happen to use the same word.
In reading the posts here and in other threads, it is apparent that some people are confused between the two. Whenever the word "short" is used in Pinkyland, it means the latter.
Now, let's hope for a strong upgap this morning!!!

im still here and i made a big mistake.i had an order in for .0013 then i cancelled it thinking i should buy in at .0014.i never placed the trade and if you look at the current stock price its the equivelant of buying a 14$ stock thats now worth 19$.oh well we cant always time the tops and bottoms but i am very happy to see qbids stock price finnally turn positive and im very long on this play.i dont intend on daytrading my shares as i am not a trader in qbid.i invest in this lovely pinky called the q.to most people that i talk to when i tell them i invest in pinks they think im crazy.they are probably right but i do beleive in the future of qtv and i think that about one out of a hundred pinks is a good long term hold.in my utmost humble opinion we are going to see increased volatility in qbid now and this stock will one day break and hold above a penny.for those that are averaged in below .002 that is a full five fold on your investment.as for now im holding on for much larger profits.best of luck to those that daytrade as their will now be money to be made selling high and buying back low.
11.5 million on lockdown.

I have a question for people who live in PS -- about Q's offices.
I left town before hearing of them, and just am curios about where they are. I for some reason had them in my mind in the old Sun Studios building on Tahquitz and Caballeros, but I know they are really on the 300 block of north Indian. For the life of my I can't place that. Seems it should be about where the dealership used to be, but I can't picture them on the east side of the street. Thie fire station would be about 400 N i I rmember correctly, so they would probably be across from the old texaco and car wash, but I am just totally drawing a blank on that side of the street -- it seems to me that is all 1-story shopfront retail all the way from the village to the fire station.
Driving me crazy and I won't be back in town for weeks. Can someone from "home" help me out? Been up that road a gaqzillion times over the last 25 years, and for the life of me I can't remember that particular block..

With the bashers flipping their stock right now I would expect them to come out in droves very very soon. They are going to want to try to scare a sell off so they can get back in cheap. It may get brutally ugly here if a PR doesnt hit soon.
Just a heads up for the new folks, I know we have a bunch lately and they arent used to this yet. Most of us just have fun playing with the a888oles.

on a side note i was flipping threw the channels yesterday and came across this show on MTV that one person has a chance to go on a date with 3 people but he doesnt get to meet them first he has to meet their mom and go on a date with them, then at the end of the show pick who they want to date based on which mother they like the best. Well this show and other shows on MTV are usualy for the straight audience but recently i have been seeing more and more of these shows with gay and lesbians instead of straight people. If a major channel like MTV which targets the younger audience is throwing some gay/;lesbian shows into the mix then it shows a demand is being created for this type of material on TV. With a demand from younger people to older people Q should be taking off and right now even at .0021 is way way under vauled. sorry for any typos i just had surgery on my arm so i can only type 1 handed.

Ligge I agree. Been strangely quiet so far today. The daytraders should be grabbing profits right now, so we should see some "scare" posts soon.
