That seems like a sh^&ty move on the SEC -- without substantial evidence of foul play, they should give a one-trading-day warning to get substantiation before halting trade. Although if things are on the up and up, the resulting run will be a good opportunity to increase position and dollar average the dip.

yeah, the SEC stepped in for no real reason, but like you said, it might be a good opportunity to size up a little.

I think the halting of SSTY is a good thing, it's protecting our investment, before people buy more into it. If there's no real deal with China then we can kiss our money good bye.
If SEC confirms that the deal is legit, then we will see this baby rock, what else can we ask but the approval of SEC.
I think is not only that, but also any major deal by an American Corporation with such implications on security and technology must be approved by our congress. We are dealing here with China with technology that can be used against us also, so I think it may have some issue with our government stepping in.
How long can trading be halted? Ideas?

it says it is halted til Aug 16 , if the SEC finds no wrongful doings,, will or have they released a stock sooner, than the date they listed.

I don't know about the law, but a) I have never seen it released before the date without a court order, and b) I couldn't imagine the SEC backing up on the date after announcing it. That would really present a challenge because investors would be relying on the 16th and could suffer heavily on an earlier release.

i think like pensandoenti67 should the SEC find NO wrongful doings, this will climb, this is probably a disgrunted investor thats pissed or someone or group trying to screw this up

I doubt this investigation is the result of someone complaining to the SEC. Most likely it's because of several triggers like unusually high volume, price change, and it being on the pinks.

I was in a stock where the trading was halted because of pending news. I thought, Oh no, but when it started trading again it went up over 100% and the went up again and again for several days. Will see what happens here.

I guess they couldn't believe this going up over 1200% in 3 days and looked like it was still going.
If this is halted for 2 weeks.....all will know if the live T.v demo took place and this will gap huge....just nerve-racking for those still in. Its a major gain or loss with nothing to prevent loss. I think its going to be a homerun though JMHO.We'll see in about a week..... Anyone have Chinese conections? ah no need im sure someone will know

Yeah, one2, this is kind of a "forced" long... probably be the second-longest I have EVER kept an open position without at least a swing... can't seem to leave things alone. I am glad I only have 250k shares stuck. I would hate to be in for a million or more... I would run out of my supplies of Valium, Xanax, AND Ativan by the 16th.
But, like you said, it will be bank time then -- we either go to the window and collect our sure-bet bread, or we stand outside in the rain staring at a "closed" sign. The speculation on what will happen on the 16th will be all but over by the 15th, so let's keep our eyes on the news and hope for the best!

US Government could be putting on a deal with SSTY so that they can put some kind of spy device into their products to spy on the CHinese. Remember that US spy plane that crashed in China? Just my opinion.

Sure Trace Responds to SEC Actions Business Wire - August 4, 2005 9:00 AM (EDT)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jump to first matched term
PHILADELPHIA, Aug 04, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Sure Trace (OTC:SSTY) denies that there are any inaccuracies or inadequacies in news releases that warrant the halt of trading of its common stock by the SEC. The Company believes that the SEC, however well-intentioned, may have been misguided from sources intent on hurting the Company's business.
The Company will cooperate with the SEC and intends to provide the SEC with all relevant documents and other information as requested. Michael Cimino, the Company's CEO states, "After the SEC has had an opportunity to communicate with us and review any pertinent materials relating to our press releases, we are confident that they will agree that our stock should resume trading."
