i got this off another board. looks like qtv isint going to be the first to air, this is no good. we need carriers soon.
Here first? It's "here!," it's queer, and it's beating Logo to the punch in Philly.
The premium gay-and-lesbian cable network that calls itself here!, now available in 30 million homes, will be picked up by Comcast, the country's largest cable provider, says a TV executive familiar with the negotiations.
The announcement is expected Feb. 17, the day that MTV's Logo, a gay network targeted for basic cable, was to have launched, the exec says, adding that the premiere has been pushed back due to production problems.
MTV did not return repeated calls. A Comcast rep says the firm is in discussions with here!, "and will provide details when there is more to announce." (Translation: See ya next month.) Comcast reaches 21.6 million homes nationwide, 1.9 million in the Philadelphia area.
The channel offers original series, feature films, and general programming aimed at a broad-based gay audience.
Third Man Out, about a tough gay detective, will premiere in summer, the network announced yesterday. Chad Allen (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman) stars.

I too am pretty new to this board...but so far no one has beaten me up yet... Thanks to all that post and help keep me updated on the general attitude of our stock...Personally, I would rather read encouraging words then chit... since after all...I have made my own decision to go long...and if this sucker plops which I do not see happening, I am more then prepared to take the hit. I will only cry for 1 day at the most...(maybe 2)...after all..I don't have that much money invested. I learn more each day and have made some incredible stupid mistakes...but I don't feel that I am making a mistake here. It is nice to read positives. ...makes the ride more fun. I also like to hear other views and opinions ...as long as it is done in a courteous (Where is the spell checker) manner. Maybe some DD to go along with the chit to back up any negetives. Without backing up the chit...words are just flying in the wind. As far as I can see, this is a great opportunity, for all that are holding shares in the Q...Good luck! Holding strong with a million and a half. Go Q!!

I'm sure frank knows - not worried at this end. When Q-live was on last night, Here! was running a movie. Which would you want to watch. If you haven't listened to Q-Live, do so tonight.

you must acknowledge that we have two other competitors trying to get the same market. logo is owned by the biggest media company in the world, viacom. viacom owns a dozen networks or channels atleast. also, by that article here! is going to be in 30 million homes on comcast. what do we have? were only available in a handful of cities right now, probably only 1% of the country. something needs to happen soon or we might be left behind. i heard viacom recently bought black entertainment television for 3 billion dollars. could you guys imagine if viacom bought qbid for that kind of money? just a thought but, you never know. viacom has bought several tv networks in the past few years.

i wouldn't sweat it too much. the quality of programming Q offers is far superior to the crap on here and logo...and i'm not positive but i believe viacom has owned BET for quite some time. viacom is huge!! but they don't have real gay people running the show like Q does. so even though they have the same target audience, most of the GLBT is pretty fed up with the type of programming that has been made for them so far and will welcome programming made by gays for gays. forgive me if i seem like i'm rambling.

Q Television Network to Co-Sponsor the Queer Lounge at the Sundance Film Festival PALM SPRINGS, Calif.
CWR & Partners, LLP Ronnie Welch, 508-222-4802
Q Television Network, (Pink Sheets: QBID) announced today that it's an official sponsor of the Queer Lounge at the Sundance Film Festival in January. This gives Q Television Network the opportunity to acquire new products from prominent gay and lesbian producers, as well as gain exposure to networks, producers, celebrities, and the estimated 38,000 potential attendees at the festival.
"Q Television's co-sponsorship of the Queer Lounge gives us international exposure and access to top lesbian and gay producers for potential new products. It will increase our programming line up, and shows we are the major player in gay/lesbian television," said Frank Olsen, President and CEO of Q Television Network. "The only other event with a larger marketing outreach is the Gay Games, which we already have exclusive broadcast rights to."
The Queer Lounge will be active from January 21 to 29, 2005 in Park City, Utah's popular Main Street district during the Sundance festival. The Queer Lounge establishes hospitality spaces at the most prestigious film festivals in the world, and caters mainly to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender ("queer") festival-goers. Queer Lounge is: A HOSPITALITY SUITE where guests can relax and network; A ONE-STOP SHOP FOR INFORMATION, where those attending the film festival(s) can learn about films with queer themes, or made by queer filmmakers; and AN EVENT SPACE for parties, panels and press conferences.
About Q Television Network: This television network was organized to create and develop a network devoted to providing television programming for the gay and lesbian community. While the company expects much of its subscriber base to be comprised of members of the gay and lesbian population, management also believes that quality programming about the gay and lesbian experience, designed to entertain, educate and inform, will attract many other segments of the viewing public. The company's programming will be available on a subscription basis to those desiring its programming. The network will broadcast 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Providing distribution via satellite ensures availability of the network across the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. For further information on programming and subscriptions, please visit www.qtelevision.com.
About the Queer Lounge: Queer Lounge promotes the visibility of queer people, films and issues through events, education and information. The result of these activities is to foster professional achievement, industry recognition and public understanding of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) people and their creative works. The Queer Lounge is not affiliated with the Sundance, Slamdance or other Park City film festivals. Please visit www.queerlounge.org for more information.

Is this a good sign? I went to see the lettermen clip and this is what was posted.
Note to QBID share holders
I was forced to remove the David Letterman Q Television top ten list video clip due to too much bandwidth usage. (see stats on the right)
I was amazed at the amount of curious QBIDers who checked it out in the last 72 hours!!
If anyone else (ihub included) can offer to host the clip, that would be greatly appreciated by all who have visited to view it.

cut and paste from IH - I like it. ------------------------------------ Last night in Q chat off the website Scotty Withers was talking and he said that he used to be affiliated with CNN...Scotty is a very polished anchor person and now I'm beginning to see why...he previously disclosed he was an anchor person in Tennessee.... Frank's aligned himself with some heavy hitters...IMO...you don't just appear on CNBC financial news...you need connections, you just don't walk up and ask 50 celebrities to do a tribute to Liz Taylor...you need the connections to get their attention...you don't just get on the Dave Letterman show....something else has to be going on there... Folks....hang tight....this company is making some very good moves lately -------> RCN -------> Chicago Gay Games -------> CNBC -------> Queer Lounge -------> Liz Taylor 50 celebrity tribute -------> Dave Letterman show
you just don't walk in the doors of these folks and say...I'm here. Someone is doing that for Q right now
