Into the Closet for Gay TV
Gay TV, an all-gay television channel based in Palm Springs, Calif., recently changed its name to Triangle Television Network and deleted all references to the words "lesbian," "gay," "bisexual" and "transgender" from advertising submitted to LGBT publications. Officials at the channel confirmed the name change as a business decision to ensure a continued association with their satellite provider, the Dish Network. Triangle Television Network representatives report that they were compelled to do so after pressure from Dish Network executives. Although Triangle Television Network's Web page does make reference to its audience being the LGBT community, GLAAD is concerned that a media company wanting to market to the LGBT community has, in fact, removed all references to our community in its advertising. In addition, by changing its marketing mantra from "the first and only Gay TV Channel" to "the first Television Channel for America's Alternative Lifestyles," Triangle Television Network wrongly reinforces the stereotype of a "gay lifestyle." GLAAD encourages those concerned to contact Triangle Television Network and the Dish Network. Contact: Triangle Television Network, 1000 E. Tahqultz Canyon Way, Palm Springs, CA 92262; phone: 760-322-1217; e-mail marvin@triangletelevisionnetwork.com Dish Network, c/o EchoStar Communications; Michael Dugan, President, 5701 S. another clip I hadn't seen before, no date but I'm sure older, I think I'll e-mail Bridgestone about this and see if there is any current interest in QTelevision.
Tire maker offers full-blown support to homosexual activists
[BACKGROUND: FROM THE AFA- Pulling out all the stops, tire and rubber company Bridgestone/Firestone (BFS), has entered into an “extensive commitment” to make sure their stores see the increased traffic of homosexual lovers, cross-dressers, and gender-confused customers. In a news release by BFS last week, company spokesman Michael Fluck said Firestone is “extremely pleased” to include homosexuals, bi-sexuals, lesbians and transgenders in a targeted marketing effort. Fluck said BFS will direct company profits to sponsor exclusive agreements with Triangle Television Network and major homosexual magazines, such as Out, Genre, Curve and The Advocate. In addition, BFS will sponsor homosexual web sites PlanetOut.com and Gay.com. Dr. Don Wildmon, President of American Family Association (AFA) said, “Every American family who buys Firestone tires may should be alarmed by this dissuasive direction of the company. With each purchase, their hard-earned money is going to help fund gay pride parades, homosexual television shows, and full-page ads in homosexual magazines.” Wildmon thinks Firestone’s move will further harm the company’s already damaged image. “Bridgestone/Firestone is selectively recruiting customers based solely on bedroom behavior - men who have sex with men, women who have sex with women, and those who aren’t sure what sex they are.” He said this decision won’t be well received by many current Firestone customers, the traditional American family.]

Diana (and everyone else) Thanks for putting a smile on my face, its been a rough morning, (in more ways than just qbid and the market in general) i know this is off subject, but i wanted to share a stock that i have traded for a while. You may already know about it, but MRKL trades in pretty consistant patterns, i have bought it in the 1.25 range a couple times and sold at 2.5. It usually take a few weeks, but it has worked for me, last run was up in the 3's (although i sold at 2.5) anyways, its in the 1.25 range today. Just thought I would share. -Kris

I hope they don't burn people out on the PR's. I mean keep them if they are not actually going to benefit. Repeated PR's are of no good use either.
We need some volume moving and price raising SOON, please.

Just an FYI. I confirmed the fact that Here TV is not a publicly traded company...yet! That was the reply I got back from them. So at least you don't have to worry about having some of their stock too
I can just envision another XM and Sirius competition between these two.

Hey get this. I just read on Yahoo that Former VP Al Gore is buying a cable channel to run a liberal network. How rich would that be? I'm sure there is zero connection, but man wouldn't that be a hoot.
Been reading up on the board, and as usual, Di is providing great DD.
Chuck, can't thank you enough for making the trip on everyone's behalf.

anyone have any theories as to why we have not seen any movement since the show, and pr last night? I hope that we get some movement at the next pr at least... But I did expect something yesterday and today... still holding strong though!

I thought we would be up with the PR that was out last night and this moring. I bet people are waiting for some hard news on soft launch and hard launch. I think we are going to keep doing the yoyo thing for the rest of the week. If we get a good PR on friday then the ball will be rolling. Hope anyway. Every time I see it drop I think I should keep buying more. I think I am just going to sit on my 100k shares unless it gets down to 1 cent then will pick up another $1000. I am looking at this stock as an investment not a quick money maker. All we have to do is launch.

Found this article that i think explains the aborted launch in 2001, it seems that they did actually launch, just nobody could see them, issues i am sure Frank and company will address this time before the actual new launch. Think it gives you some idea just how complicated this whole thing can be.
Gay TV in the US: Triangle, C1TV
For years, several in the U.S. have dreamed of starting such a venture patterned after the Black Entertainment Network, but enormous startup costs, reluctant advertisers, distribution challenges and perhaps even late timing within the gay movement have brought significant obstacles.
After a series of false starts, Triangle Multi-Media Limited of Palm Springs also launched a 24-hour network last month -- but no one can see it yet as the company works out distribution issues. Earlier this year the company sought to be carried on Echostar's DISH network, but various disputes arose over costs and DISH's objection to the original name Gay Television Network, which was changed to Triangle Television Network.
Triangle spokesman Frank Olson says the company is now pursuing distribution on cable companies and is also in early discussions with DIRECTV, with hopes for some pickup of the network by late this year.
"The difference between us and PrideVision is that we don't have the must-carry rule in the US," says Triangle spokesman Frank Olson, referring to guaranteed channel distribution in Canada.
Triangle has already spent $6 million in mostly private investment so far and projects a $12 million budget for its first year – though the other $6 million remains to be raised. The network plans not to carry commercials but will have sponsorships like those on public television.
The company has 31 employees, including five sales people, four in programming and other support staff. Olson claims that the company's recent advertising has attracted 19,000 people willing to pay $65 a month to get the network as soon as it is available, and that they have already provided their names and credit card data. http://www.commercialcloset.org/cgi-bin/iowa/?page=column&record=49
