Using margin money can help you get serious gains. I originally signed up for a margin account so I wouldn't have the 3 day wait. But now, I often use their money for daytrading purposes. I would not use their money for a long position. The longest I have used their money was for about 2 weeks. I had 1000 shares of BRCM, so I used the margin to double up to 2000. This was @ 15.00 last summer.....I wish I still those shares!!!!

Yeah, but one of the reasons we're all here doing this now is because it's so damn easy (and cheap!).

And yes Johnny, we NEED some T-shirts to be made because that would be probably the most awesome advertising for us at this level. I mean think about it, walking around campus this Spring with a GameZNFlix "Late Fees Suck!" T-shirt...holy attention getter...

I had that problem earlier. I had over $1000 cash in my account along with 600,000 shares of GZFX.
However, I couldn't use my cash. It had something to do with the symbol change that caused my PGHI postion to be worth $0. I think it's an automatic thing to make sure my shares were covered?
Either way, I was pissed cause I couldn't use my money.

I guess mine is screwed too.

Did you just put some cash in your account recently. I put some in Tuesday and have to wait 5 business days until I can use it. I have a margin account also and tried to buy more gzfx today and I got the same message you did. My order didn't exceed the amount of cash in my acct either. Mac

I think the reason is your check wasnt cleared yet. You can only use the money to buy margine stocks. When your check is fully cleared then you should be able to buy.

No I didn't deposit the money, but I sold a position two days ago. It must have to do with the symbol change. Usually I can sell a buy right away with the same money.

OT: Ok, people here with Freetrade, I read on their site that you are supposed to have 2 years experience with a discount online broker to be eligible, and of course $5,000 initial balance. Is the 2 years experience thing true, or are they lenient with that???
I was so looking foward to going over to Freetrades after I make enough cash but I don't have CLOSE to 2 years experience with my broker, or any broker nonetheless.
Somebody please fill me in on this...hehe

I just spoke to Ameritrade and they said that for some reason the cash is restricted, and it will all correct itself on Monday when they update their system. He said I could have placed it on the phone. So everything should be good for Ameritrade on Monday.

the 3 day settlement rule is an SEC regulation on cash accounts. you're screwed no matter who you use. it is a bummer

that is why you get a margin account. you can then get around the SEC rule. you just don't use the margin. it's that simple

Not true, don't mean to be blunt. Lowtrades: Buy and sell same stock - same day - Will have the money the following morning. Buy a stock and sell it a day or more later - will have the money instantly.
No 3 day settlement here...

i hate to be a pest, becasue at least we are not fighting, but maybe we need a new thread about who to broker with and use this for gzfx. i am learning quite a bit frm this conversation. i hate to ask this question, but this and rb is the only board to get a discussion about gzfx. rb is horrible. maybe getting on other boards such as this and getting more investor or customers. again, hate to ask when i am on this board, but can anyone help.
So your saying no matter what broker I go to I will still experience the 3 day rule ? If yes , how can people daytrade a penny stock ? I know margin isnt allowed. Is it a case if you sell a stock but you have cash in your account already can you rebuy that same stock same day ?
Sorry for the questions im trying to find a new broker aswell so I can do some day trading.Etrade is $23 a trade

chrissy, maybe you should consider qualifying for a margin account.

Maybe there's an exception I don't know about because I have talked with many online brokers and all tell me the 3 day settlement applies to cash accounts. I'll check it out.
and chrissy, I don't know for sure if there is any SEC regulation against trading pennies in a margin account. I always assumed it was popular practice among brokers because of the high risk involved. again, these are things im definitely going to look into.
