A quick Merry Christmas to FRPT and all investors who have benefited from this incredible stock. I originally bought in in mid-January at 1.20. I've been following this thread since around August. Everyone here's been helpful, supportive, and amusing, to say the least. Have a great FRPT new year, and I'll see you on the other side of $20. I'm off to finish my shopping...the budget's a bit bigger this year!

SIGA and FRPT seem to be similar plays. Why is FRPT taking off, and SIGA is lagging, and seems to be searching for support at the bottom?

Repo-

What initially sent you so long in FRPT? It would be nice to develop some kind of "metric" of sorts that would help us all identify the potential longer-term holds like this one.

I wouldn't say they are the same... SIGA is diluting on the open market, FRPT did PP's. Also, Siga only has 1 order from the DoD, FRPT does not.

The only similarity is the fact they both have orders from the DoD.

Not to mention (aside from the product being extremely viable) that the company is playing the game to near perfection.

Force Protection Teams With General Dynamics For New $10B Armored Vehicle Project

Posted: Today at 9:37 a.m.

LADSON, S.C. — Force Protection, a builder of high-tech armored vehicles designed to protect its occupants from explosive devices, is joining forces with General Dynamics Land Systems to pursue a new vehicle the U.S. military wants.

The Mine Resistant Ambush Protected, or MRAP, vehicle program is a Defense Department initiative seeking to replace Humvee vehicles. More than 20,000 of the MRAP vehicles could be purchased in a contract worth as much as $10 billion.

The MRAP program is being managed by the U.S. Marine Corps.

Force Protection and the General Dynamics group plan to offer Force Protection’s so-called Cougar vehicles as the MRAP. The Cougars are available in 4x4 and 6x6 configurations.

General Dynamics and Force Protection recently announced a partnership through which General Dynamics would provide fabrication of the armored capsules built into Cougar vehicles.

"This joint venture is an important strategic step for our company," said Force Protection Chief Executive Officer Gordon McGilton in a statement. "Combining Force Protection's life-saving blast protection technology with the size and capability of General Dynamics will ensure that the MRAP program will be a success and that the vehicles will be the strongest, most advanced blast- and ballistic-protected vehicles in the world.”

Force Protection, which recently raised nearly $153 million through a stock offering, has already sold Cougar joint explosive ordnance disposal rapid response vehicles to the Marines. The most recent contract called for $69 million to be spent on 100 of the Cougars. Its vehicles are built at a complex near Charleston, S.C.

To date, more than 300 Force Protection vehicles have been delivered to the U.S. military for use in Afghanistan and Iraq. They include Cougar and Buffalo vehicles. The United Kingdom also recently signed a contract for vehicles from Force Protection.

Among features in the Cougar are a V-shaped hull designed to deflect blast effects and 4-inch thick glass.

The Cougar can be configured to haul as many as 12 troops or four troops and a large explosive ordinance disposal robot. It can be used as a command and control vehicle, a prime mover for artillery pieces, vehicle recovery and as an ambulance, according to Force Protection.

"The joint venture will provide our Armed Forces the services of two best- in-class defense companies both dedicated to safeguarding the lives of our servicemen and women," said Dave Heebner, president General Dynamics Land Systems. "Together we will leverage the complementary skills and resources inherent in our companies to produce Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles.”

Ok, this is how you know shorts are in BIG trouble.

Read this:

http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D8M9A3F00.htm

Now, it's true this happened. But, who in their right mind would publish this as worthy news for an OTC stock and for a planned sale that isn't anything new (Frank has been selling shares now and then since the summer)???

Think - are shorts trying to get some investors scared??

Man, they do play hardball...

Nice little mention:
quote:
http://www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/business/16346750.htm

While many S.C.public companies celebrate growth, other are mired in investigations

By BEN WERNER
bwerner*thestate.com

The ball doesn’t drop on 2006 until Sunday night, but the year has ended on Wall Street, and most of South Carolina’s public companies saw their stock prices finish up from a year ago.

Many of the nation’s major stock indexes finished 2006 with decent double-digit growth from the end of 2005 — a performance mirrored by South Carolina’s 20 largest publicly traded companies.

As a whole, stock in these South Carolina-based firms finished 2006 13 percent higher than in 2005.

This year-over-year increase in stock prices was slightly better than the 12 percent growth reported for a similar list of companies at the end of 2005.

THE BIG WINNER

Ladson-based Force Protection has developed a product in high demand — armored vehicles favored by military for work in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Currently, the military is seeking bids on 4,000 armored vehicles that match specifications for Force Protection’s Cougar vehicle.

The company also secured a private placement of 13 million shares of common stock, generating $152.75 million.

The day that private placement was announced, Force Protection’s stock price jumped by $1 to close at $15.99 per share.

The cash is being used to expand Force Protection’s Ladson manufacturing plant.

And also:
quote:

http://www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/business/16346751.htm

Who to watch
Three companies worth keeping an eye on in 2007 as they appear poised for growth:

BLACKBAUD INC.

The Charleston-based company just missed the top three performers spot, but has consistently done well selling fund-raising software to nonprofit organizations. Stock symbol: BLKB

CENTERPLATE INC.

With management firmly in place, watch for the Spartanburg-based stadium and arena concessions company to use its line of credit to seek new, large stadium deals. Stock symbol: CVP

FORCE PROTECTION INC.

The Ladson-based manufacturer of armored vehicles likely has a big year ahead as its vehicles have become a favorite among U.S. military personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan. Stock symbol: FRPT.OB
