Yeah, I know Friday was the day LOL!

I'm holding on. Just a little gun-shy cause you have probably seen my history (in the blood bath threads) with holding too long. But those that I held too long seemed to be PnD's and I know that this one is DEFINITELY NOT.

I checked out the other one you recommended, NLST, too, but by the time I looked at it had already gone up 10 cents. I may try and buy on a dip cause I really need to get into some safer, REAL companies instead of those momo plays.

Cougar JERRV Armored Vehicle Saves EOD Team in Iraqeb page
Posted on Friday, May 12 * 17:40:02 PDT by davidc

david at defensereview.com

Back in November, 2005, DefenseReview published a press release on the Cougar Joint Explosive Ordnance Rapid Response Vehicle (JERRV) and Buffalo Mine Clearance Vehicle made by Force Protection, Inc. (a.k.a. Force Protection Industries, Inc.). We've been hearing good things about the performance of these armored vehicles in the Sandbox (theater of operations), and recently spoke with Force Protection VP Mike Aldrich about them. Two of the vehicle design features we on the phone discussed were V-hull and diamond-shaped crew compartment utilized by both vehicles. We're going to publish a more in-depth article on the Buffalo and Cougar armored vehicles based on our interview with Mr. Aldrich as soon as we can. In the meantime, we have some photos of a Cougar vehicle that survived a mine blast during an operation in Iraq. Mr. Aldrich was kind enough to send us a sanitized testimonial letter from one of the three EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) specialists that were in the vehicle. All three men survived.

The following is the information we received (letter and photos from the field)...

"Just wanted to write a quick note to all of you at your company to thank you for the hard work you put into the Cougar vehicle. We are stationed in [omitted] Iraq and about 2 weeks ago our JERRV/Cougar ran over [deleted] mine coming back from a call downtown. It had been raining that night and the mines were placed in a hole filled with water. Right after the explosion, the Cougar was driven for two miles on the three remaining tires at speeds in excess of 20 mph so that we could make it to a safe area.

Once we got to the safe area we were able to survey the damage and everyone was amazed how far the vehicle had driven. The three of us inside were all okay other than slight concussions and a headache that lasted a few days. We know that if we had been in another type of vehicle that the outcome would have been much worse. We were also able to get a replacement Cougar within 24 hours. Thank you for everything and keep up the good work."

Took pretty good dip today to 3.40. I actually had another buy order in for 3.35, but it didn't get that low. Now, I'm second guessing that one! Oh well. It's good that it began to go back up towards the end of the day and the price it is at now is still a good entry point.

Where is this rumor coming from?

Oh, okay. I thought you were talking about another contract in addition to the Iraqi one. The fact that they are in the bidding for that contract isn't a rumor. That is a fact.

I wonder what other companies are in the bidding for the contract? I can't imagine there are too many other companies that make similar equipment!

About **********

WWW.********** is a service designed to help bonafide shareholders of publicly traded US companies fight naked short selling. Naked short selling is the illegal act of short selling a stock when no affirmative determination has been made to locate shares of the stock to hypothecate in connection with the short sale. ********** has built a proprietary database that uses Threshold list feeds from NASDAQ, AMEX and NYSE to generate detailed and useful information to combat the naked short selling problem. For the first time, actual trade by trade data is available to the public that shows the attempted size, actual size, price and average value of short sales in stocks that have been shorted and naked shorted. This information is valuable in determining the precise point at which short sellers go out-of-the-money and start losing on their short and naked short trades.

********** has built a massive database that collects, analyzes and publishes a proprietary SqueezeTrigger for each stock that has been shorted, www.**********/squeezetrigger.pdf. The SqueezeTrigger database of nearly 750,000,000 short sale transactions goes back to January 1, 2005, and calculates the exact price at which the Total Short Interest is short in each stock. This data was never before available prior to January 1, 2005, because the Self Regulatory Organizations (primary exchanges) guarded it aggressively. After the SEC passed Regulation SHO, exchanges were forced to allow data processors like ********** to access the data.

The SqueezeTrigger database collects individual short trade data on over 7,000 NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ stocks and general short trade data on nearly 8,000 OTCBB and PINKSHEET stocks. Each month the database grows by approximately 50,000,000 short sale transactions and provides investors with the knowledge necessary to time when to buy and sell stocks with outstanding short positions. By tracking the size and price of each month's short transactions, ********** provides institutions, traders, analysts, journalists and individual investors the exact price point where short sellers start losing money.

It means that either retail investors like you and me (but with more money) or MM's have shorted the stock, and if it reaches a certain price (I can't see the website so don't know what it is), they will panic and begin to buy back so they don't keep losing more money. That will drive the price up.

As of 10:30AM, a couple of these stocks are: (PTSC), (FRPT), (ACKHQ), (VRDI)

What is a STOCKUMENTARY? Visit the following link to find out: http://www.s-t-o-c-k-w-i-r-e . com/cdrom/aani/streaming .

For the three months ended 31 March 2006, Force Protection, Inc.'s revenues totaled $34.8M, up from $5.9M. Net loss fell 83% to $666K. Revenues reflect increased level of vehicle production primarily the result of JERRV contract and increased revenue from the sale of spare parts. Lower loss reflects improved gross margin due to the increasing efficiency of the manufacturing operations and the company's cost efficiency.

They got it, and it's a whopper. See you at $25 PPS by end of year. It's already up to $4.75 in European markets. Happy days are here again... if Repoman man were here, he would say, hold tight girl!

BAE Systems Land & Armaments L.P., York, Pa., was awarded on May 30, 2006, a delivery order amount of $180,503,000 as part of a $445,439,000 firm-fixed-price contract for Iraqi Light Armored Vehicles. Work will be performed in Anniston, Ala. (50 percent), and Ladson, S.C. (50 percent), and is expected to be completed by Nov. 30, 2009. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were an unknown number of bids solicited via the World Wide Web on May 5, 2006, and 16 bids were received. The U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Warren, Mich., is the contracting activity (W56HZV-06-D-VB01).

I'm not understanding that link. I don't see anything about FRPT in it. I do see "Ladson, SC" though which is Force Protection's location. How is BAE connected to FRPT?

I'll try to find the link that says FRPT was working with BAE Systems to land this contract. BAE is a huge British defense contractor. Let me see if I can find the link.

Here.

Associated Press
CHARLESTON, S.C. - Force Protection Inc. of Ladson and defense contractor BAE Systems Inc., have been awarded a $445 million contract to manufacture as many as 1,046 armored vehicles for the Iraqi Army, company officials and the Defense Department announced Wednesday.

The contract will mean even more workers hired at Force Protection, which employs 285 people making its armored Cougars and larger Buffalos. About three years ago, only 11 people were employed by the company.

The contract calls for an initial delivery order of 395 Cougars, said Michael Aldrich, the vice president of sales for Force Protection. The initial order is for $180 million, the Defense Department announced.

He said more workers would be hired to make the vehicles but did not know exactly how many new jobs the work would create. "We will have to leap forward again to meet the demands of the contract," Aldrich said.

The company now produces about one Cougar a day.

John Measell, a spokesman for BAE Systems, confirmed late Wednesday that a contract was pending but said the company was not prepared to make a statement yet.

But Aldrich said there would also likely be more people hired at the BAE Systems fabrication plant in Aiken.

The Defense Department contract announcement said half the work would be done at a BAE Systems plant in Anniston, Ala., while half would be performed in Ladson. It said that 16 bids were received for the contract.

The Cougar's mine-resistant hull is shaped like a "V" to deflect the force of mine blasts.

Spartan Chassis Inc., a Michigan company, builds the chassis for the Cougars. Every vehicle will come back through Charleston for final paint and shipment through either the port or the Charleston Air Force Base, Aldrich said.

He said that BAE Systems is the primary contractor and that the Defense Department would never have awarded the bid to a small company like Force Protection alone.

"It's a great marriage between Spartan, BAE Systems which has a reputation for logistics support and production of high volume armored vehicles and our ability to design the best blast-protected vehicles in Iran and Afghanistan," Aldrich said.

BAE Systems North America employs more than 30,000 people in the United States and Great Britain and generates more than $5 billion in annual sales, according to the company Web site.

WOW! This is great. Where is the link for the article above? I don't see anything on BAE's website or FRPT's website. (although the article you posted does mention that they were not prepared to make a statement).

What is RB?

The article says "Associated Press", yet I can find nothing when I search Associated Press.

Is RB just another message board?
