Anyway, as Pagan pointed out, the Russian group was put together for this deal...
Yeah, I know. It's hard to do any real research on a company that was just formed for this specific purpose, especially a foreign company.
But to be honest with you, red flags are going up for me. And I've been waiting to possibly get back into this stock.
I note that you are "waiting to possibly get back in". Have you been on the sidelines through all of the swing opportunities? Or are you just referring to a long position? There has been a whole lot of opportunities to make massive bank on the volitile swings of GTE if you can stomach the the ride. Its been great!! GLTY, either way you choose to play it.

I don't know about that Tex.
First of all, they have a history indicating they may actually be a bit nuts.
Second, assume they are rasonably bright and not nuts but careful students of risk analysis. The down side? A yeart or two in one of the Fed's less violent many-bars. Up side? Maybe tens or hundreds of millions stashed in off shore numbered accounts? Not so bad an hourly stipend.

Ya, Pagan's played this thing like a cello...
Beedge, not quite following ya--I mean, I get what you're saying, but not aware of any evidence for support...as far as I know, the Strat is a real, physical item in a real hangar; the hires from NASA have never been disputed, that I'm aware of...
To me, this Ruskie skepticism is healthy, but deserves a call to IR to ask for DD--not mere PR, but info that can be verified via third-parties. Until those calls are made, speculation is simply that...

Very light volume and price movement today. Similar to last week just before the price run-up. Unless I missed it - it should be about time for GTE to send out their latest quartely financials I think.

GlobeTel Announces the Product Launch of GlobeTelX®, an Advanced VoIP CPE Device Using the Asterisk IAX2 Protocol
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.—February 15, 2006--GlobeTel Communications Corp. is proud to announce the launch of its new GlobeTelX® product line of VoIP Gateways. GlobeTelX® is a series of advanced VoIP CPE (Customer Premise Equipment) units based on Asterisk IAX2 (Inter-Asterisk Exchange Version 2), jointly developed with Taiwan-based Accel Inc. and IP-WARE S.L. based in Spain. GlobeTel incorporated the GlobeTelX® as part of its GlobeTel VoIP® platform to provide voice calling services over IP or the Internet as well as offering it as a stand-alone gateway to be integrated with existing Asterisk PBXs. Asterisk’s IP PBX solution, open source, is rapidly gaining popularity around the world as it offers a full feature PBX functionality at low cost. The GlobeTelX® product line is the result of GlobeTel identifying the growing need for intelligent CPE units that utilizes the native IAX asterisk protocol and developing a complete range of products for the retail and corporate market. Almost all new GlobeTelX® IAX VoIP models have routing capabilities while all models support advanced call services such as Caller ID, call waiting, call forwarding, selective call forward, call transfer, and much more. GlobeTelX® offers toll quality voice, echo cancellation and silence suppression support. The advantage of GlobeTelX® CPE units over existing solutions is its simple plug & play installation procedure and its ability to work easily behind NAT and firewalls devices. The auto provisioning features together with the advanced IAX Manager server provide a perfect mass deployment solution for carriers and ISPs. The user is simply required to connect the unit to the Internet and all configuration tasks and firmware updates are carried remotely by the IAX Manager to the user without the need of local technician intervention. The marketing of GlobeTelX® solution has begun in Europe with IP-WARE S.L. along with a number of other distributors starting with the series of units supporting 1, 2 and 4 phone lines. Distribution in the U.S and Latin America is expected to begin before the end of the second quarter. “We believe that there is a huge market of Asterisk users longing for such products to use as home or remote office extensions to their central Asterisk PBX. The fact that the IAX unit can traverse Firewalls and NAT much easier than many other CPEs using SIP protocol and occupies less bandwidth will further contribute to the expansion of our retail VoIP services,” stated Mr. Huff, CEO of GlobeTel. "We estimate a scalable demand for our GlobeTelX® boxes starting with at least 100K units during this year to more than double during the 2nd year " added Mr. Huff. GlobeTel see the following market sectors for the GlobeTelX products: - Carriers, ISPs and Cables companies that will acquire the GlobeTelX as part of the global StrateVoIP® solution. The StrateVoIP® product (www.StrateVoIP.com) is a complete turn key solution that will turn any existing cable or Internet Service Provider (ISP) into a leader in VoIP technology without the usual obstacles involved in building out a carrier-class VoIP platform, and without the significant capital expense. - Asterisk Integrators that will integrate the GlobeTelX® units with their IP PBX products for the SME market - Digium partners and distributors - Vertical Market that uses the Asterisk server as platform to develop applications such as security systems, alarm systems, remote monitoring, etc. - Retail market for users that are affiliated to IAX service providers for IAX to IAX and IAX to PSTN communications. FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Feb 17, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- GlobeTel Communications Corp. (AMEX:GTE) announced that Sir Christopher Meyer, its Non-Executive Chairman, has requested a change in his status, effective March 19, 2006, to that of an Independent Director. As a result of his current professional obligations and commitments in the U.K., Sir Christopher has advised the Board that he feels unable to commit the time to the Chairmanship of GlobeTel that the company's shareholders have the right to expect.
Sir Christopher stated, "I have the highest regard for GlobeTel, and its Officers and Directors. But my pre-existing obligations carry a heavy weight of responsibility within my own country. Thus, I believe I would better serve the company by passing the leadership baton to another qualified individual who is equipped to devote the time and attention that this important job requires."
"We have greatly valued Sir Christopher's tenure as our Chairman. Under his administration and vision, the company has made great strides in all of its businesses and we particularly appreciate the significant enhancements that he has brought to our Board of Directors, exactly in the way that he suggested when he initially joined the Board. We look forward to a continued relationship with him as one of our most distinguished Board colleagues," stated Timothy Huff, Chief Executive Officer of GlobeTel Communications.
In the context of this change, Sir Christopher will assist the company in identifying and securing an appropriate replacement during the coming weeks.
