Nice little bounce today. Hopefully we have hit the bottom and have only good things to look forward to preparing for the mid-summer flight. WOuld be nice if GTEL would put out some weekly or monthly status reports as to progress with completion of the test vehicle.

Anybody here from Canada who watched the Daily Planet show on Discovery Channel(Canada)? They had a special on the Sanswire Stratelite tonight at 7:00 & 11:00 Eastern time tonight. Supposed to be a 10 minute segment. Anyone see it?

Could Stratellites Revolutionize Telecommunications?

By Pauline Park
Staff Writer

Although the company’s recently announced “Stratellites” have been getting all the attention, Globetel Communications Corp. (OTCBB: GTEL Quotes, News, Charts) is actually a diversified telecommunications company with interests in several high-growth markets.

The company is divided into four divisions, which according to GlobeTel’s CEO Timothy Huff, are synergistic, and provide several cross-selling opportunities for the company. The company’s carrier division, which serves as a foundation for all of GlobeTel’s other businesses, provides long distance VoIP carriers with a wholesale market to sell to large-scale carriers around the globe.

The company’s second segment of business is the Magic Phone, which is an IP adaptor that works on an Internet connection through the use of a 2x2 inch box with a designated U.S. phone number. The pre-set U.S. number will work at any location in the world so long as there is an Internet connection present. GlobeTel plans to sell this product internationally, and has secured relationships with substantial carriers around the globe who are eager to facilitate the selling and the channelization of this market, according to Huff.

GlobeTel’s third business is called Magic Money- a partnership to create a Mastercard debit stored value cards to customers around the globe. The company’s switch is set behind the Mastercard firewall that enables GlobeTel to offer a prepaid calling card that is also a money remittance card. Unlike traditional money transfer services such as Western Union, GlobeTel’s money remittance solution offers customers increased logistics, substantial cost benefits and a credible alternative to electronic banking.

The company’s last segment of business has garnered a decent amount of attention from both the press and the Street. Through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sanswire, Inc., the company has developed “Stratellites,” or airships capable of transmitting voice, broadband and cellular coverage. “Sanswire is a high altitude airship that flies at about 13 miles up into the stratosphere and because it is only 13 miles away, not 22,500 miles away like a satellite, it is the ideal platform for 2-way communication,” said Huff. According to Huff, this new shift in telecommunications would provide a new price point for voice, DSL and cell coverage to not only the U.S., but for many of the developing countries around the world.

“Once the technology works, as we believe it will, we’ll be able to provide that rich-flowing content delivery from our business unit 1, which is the backbone network providing that low-cost wholesale minute connectivity around the world to the CPE, which is the Magic Phone, which will now be able to receive signals directly from a Stratellite as we call it, which is the Sanswire airship,” Huff said. “And of course the Magic Money, which will provide prepaid calling and financial services to our customers around the globe. So each business unit, even though they are independent and could be, in a sense, businesses on their own, are also very tied together.”

According to Huff, there are many benefits to the Sanswire stratellites over traditional satellites. In terms of cost, satellites are typically hundreds of millions of dollars as opposed to tens of millions of dollars for satellites. The cost and ease of maintenance is another benefit- it’s very costly to send a space shuttle to perform maintenance, as opposed to sending up another stratellite and bringing the old one down to reclaim, recover and upgrade. Another benefit is that the 2-way data rates shown by the satellites are very low compared to what the consumer actually wants. “It’s just basic physics… round trip you’re talking over 50,000 miles, and that just causes problems with high speed data,” said Huff.

Currently GlobeTel is working with NASA, the Air Force and the FAA to push their stratellites to the next phase of development. The company has plans on launching their prototype vehicle out of Edwards Air Force Base in Southern California. As of now there are no FAA rules or guidelines for something that operates at 65,000 feet but GlobeTel is working closely with the FAA to move forward as quickly as possible, Huff said.

The Sanswire project is led by a team of seasoned industry professionals, Huff said. “We have recently hired what we call the cream of the crop,” he said. “We have hired 6 individuals from the Air Force and NASA that have left 15-25 year careers to come join us. These are very respected, highly regarded individuals in the field and they have come and left places like NASA, the U.S. Air Force and different industries.”

The company anticipates development of Sanswire through the next 12 months, while focusing on bringing its three other business units to break even by the end of the second quarter, and achieving profitability by the end of the third quarter. “We see the Magic Money program as being a multi-billion dollar opportunity,” Huff said. “The four countries that we’re releasing it in over the next 12 months represent over $80 billion a year in money remittance, and we feel our system has not only technological advantages but financial advantages as well as an ease of use that will promote these contracts and we have a very large interest in these programs around the globe,” said Huff.

The company’s synergistic vision, however, will not be realized until Sanswire is aloft.

“I think what we have been trying to do over the last two and a half years since the senior management of the company has come here is to try to build a company of substance that has ongoing profitability and the ability to move forward.”

It is acting like I had hoped. A nice slow increase up to the launch. They are getting noticed and new investors are coming in. Not the ones that lost their vision when the strat was not tethered. I do not expect it to go lower, only sideways and up.

There's actually only been 3 insider sales of GTEL stock in the last 12 months. And that was just 2 people. (Per SEC filings, check for yourself). [Wink]
(Plus one added yesterday).

Up until the first part of April it looked like .24 was a strong support point. With the mid April price drop, it looks like .24 - .25 is becoming a resistance point. Probably will take some very good news to break above .25

Sarge, a lot of us are disappointed about the "unveiling"
bulletin boards have a tendency to get out of hand...

i think you are using the *d****d***mach*...that's where you found the 144's...the **d******* shouldn't have the 144's linked to insider trading the way they do...
from 144's are not relevant to trading because they are only for restricted shares and they do not mean anybody will or won't sell...just that they CAN....and i bet a lot of insioders will sell if it hits .50$.....

form 4's are required within two days of any insider transaction....

who said insider are buying...they are NOT selling...

here is a link (i hate these long URL's) to the gtel filings....

I'm looking to buy back in here at the end of May or early June. I can not wait until S1 + S2 are completed and photos are released. What I'm not looking forward to is the 60-120 day wait for NASA or the FAA to clear them for takeoff.

GlobeTel Announces Stratellite Documentary Recently Aired on the Discovery Channel
via COMTEX

May 2, 2005

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., May 02, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

GlobeTel Communications Corp. (OTCBB:GTEL), announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary Sanswire Networks, LLC's High Altitude Airship Platform, known as a Stratellite, was recently featured on the Discovery Channel.

Timothy Huff, CEO of GlobeTel commented: "The profile of our Stratellite technology was exceptionally well done. We are pleased that the Discovery Channel has produced a documentary that profiles the Stratellite and shows, in more detail, to its audience the uniqueness and the exceptional progress that we have made toward our development of a high altitude airship." Mr. Huff continued, "The Stratellite is well covered in the media with segments appearing on Fox News, CNN, ABC, The New York Times, and others who have reported on our first mover status and the significant progress toward the development that we have made in the recent few months."

The Discovery Channel segment featured Sanswire Government Services President Bob Jones showing the construction of the Stratellite prototype "Sanswire One." The program originally aired April 25, 2005 on the Discovery Channel's Canadian broadcasts.

The program, in its entirety can also be found through the link provided below.. A direct link to the media can be found by clicking (or pasting into the address destination) on the following link: http://www.exn.ca/video/?video=exn20050425-blimp.asx

About Sanswire Networks, LLC:

Sanswire Networks is a wholly owned subsidiary of GlobeTel Communications Corporation whose shares are publicly traded under the symbol GTEL.

A Stratellite(TM) is a high-altitude airship that when in place in the stratosphere (approximately 65,000 feet) will provide a stationary platform for transmitting various types of wireless communications services currently transmitted from cell towers and satellites. It is not a balloon or a blimp, but a high-altitude airship with a rigid structure.

The Stratellite is similar to a satellite in concept, but is stationed in the stratosphere rather than in orbit. Existing satellites provide easy "download" capabilities, but because of their high altitude are not practical for commercially viable "two-way" high-speed data communication. The Stratellite will allow subscribers to easily communicate in "both directions" using readily available wireless devices.

About the Discovery Channel:

Over the last 20 years, the Discovery Channel has been described as "one of television's most valued and trusted networks," and it approaches its twentieth anniversary as the most widely distributed television brand in the world, reaching 450 million homes in over 160 countries.

About GlobeTel Communications Corporation:

GlobeTel Communications Corporation is a diversified Telecommunications and Financial Services Company. GlobeTel Communications Corporation operates business units in Stored Value debit cards, as a certified MasterCard processor, the sale of Carrier grade VOIP of Long Distance to major Long Distance re-sellers, VOIP Technology and development, and high altitude airship research and development. These self contained business units were developed to operate independently of each other. The symbiotic relationship however, provides value to each of the other business units. This strategy offers GlobeTel financial diversity and risk mitigation while striving toward its operating objectives.

Operating on a global basis, GlobeTel has, historically, focused its business development on markets outside of the United States. Current operations and business relationships exist in Asia, Europe, South America, Mexico and the Caribbean.

That would be nice! However I doubt that we will see that happen. The MM's might try a slow sell-off to get the price a little lower so they can make a big profit as we approach the launch date.
