Obama: Making Joe Biden Vice President was "The Single Best Decision I Have Made"

At a Wilmington rally for Democratic Delaware Senate candidate Chris Coons today, President Obama laid to rest any remaining speculation that Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden might switch jobs in 2012, telling a packed crowd in Biden's home state that his choice of vice president was "the single best decision I have made."

He then gave the vice president a hug and called him an "extraordinary" vice president, a "fighter" and "someone who knows what our core mission is."

"Joe hasn't forgotten where he came from," the president added.

Speculation about a possible swap in positions between the vice president and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton grew earlier this month when longtime Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward intimated that a possible Obama-Clinton ticket was "on the table" for 2012.

The White House, Clinton, and Biden all immediately dismissed this idea, which White House senior adviser David Axelrod called "complete bulls**t."

ROFL, twice in as many weeks...I agree. That was the best decision he's made in the last 2 years. [Razz]

LOL, let's see...

Biden is now tied to a sinking ship that will ensure he never holds another public office as long as he lives...

Palin is now a Tea Party\Republican Kingmaker worth several million dollars and climbing...

Yep, he sure won out in `08!

And let us not forget his words of wisdom...

Responding to a question at a town hall-style meeting at Nashua Community College, Mr. Biden said, “Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me.”

He added, “She’s qualified to be president. I mean that sincerely, she’s first rate.”

LOL... you are being ridiculous. Biden has been in politics how long? The VP is now a deadend job? LOL...

Palin is not a King maker yet. not by a long shot, and making millions the way she has should scare the crap out of you.

Hardly (imo). The VP is absolutely a dead end job if you're the Veep to an unpopular President. If 2010 turns out as bad for the Dems as the polls currently predict, 2012 is going to be a tough one trying to get Obama into a second term. In addition, if Obamacare ends up in the 'Unconstitutional File' because SCOTUS kills it (in part or in whole), then just try carrying that albatross across the finish line.

As for Palin, I might concede that she isn't a 'full fledged' Kingmaker yet, but she's headed that way. She is a powerful draw at fundraising right now and I don't see that changing anytime soon. And about her millions? Unless you know something I don't on this matter, making your money at speaking events (no matter how much you make per event) doesn't scare me in the least. Let alone to the point of crapless-ness. [Razz]

quote:
Who or what could possibly be a bigger killer of candidates than supporting the Wall Street bailout? The answer is Sarah Palin, as 42% of those surveyed were less likely to vote for a candidate endorsed by Palin. Only 15% were more likely to support a Palin endorsed candidate, and for 37% Palin’s endorsement made no difference either way. To put this into context Palin was a bigger negative for candidates than having the support of Barack Obama (33%) or the Tea Party (32%). An endorsement from Palin definitely helps a candidate in the GOP primary, but is a huge liability in the general election.

Palin is so unpopular that not only does she drag herself down, but also the fortunes of those she supports. This is not the first time that we have seen numbers like this. A recent Public Policy Polling survey found that Palin is as popular as BP with Independent voters. An NBC News/WSJ poll earlier this summer found that a Palin endorsement would make 37% of respondents less comfortable supporting a candidate.

This is why Joe Miller non-committal when asked on Fox News if he would endorse Palin for 2012. This non-endorsement lead to the now famous irate Todd Palin “shoe’s email“. Miller did what any intelligent Republican for Congress should do, use Sarah Palin for her primary endorsement, then run as far as humanly possible away from her in the general election because she is absolutely toxic. This is also why some Republican candidates are telling Palin to stay away and not campaign for them.

making your money at speaking events (no matter how much you make per event) doesn't scare me in the least.

it should scare you, and the fact that it doesn't is a good representation of what's wrong with America today... what kind of basic skilled labor does 100,000$ represent? isn't that more than a year on factory line even at Union wages? it's two years now... for a stupid speech? and they are stupid. i've listened...

it's sick.

most times the people that make that kind of money are already elected and out of office-- they are being paid off for favors.

she is being bought and paid for in advance. there's a word for that.... but i hear it's no longer polite due to the Neo-thought-police in the California GOP...

as to kingmaker? i think you are in for quite a disappointment. she has stirred up some GOP's to shift direction. But she is still 0 for 1 in a natioanl campaign, and will remain that way at least until 2012. talk about counting chickens? [BadOne]

More people will vote for Obama and against Sarah Palin if she is on the ticket. Oh wait, that already happpened

nobody wants another idiot running the country. [Wink]

as to VP? you have confused yourself again. It is the second highest politcal postion in the land and he ahs already reached it after being a Senator for 36 years and RESIGNED to be the President of the Senate for at least another four... in other words? He is undefeated for 40 years and she is, well, a loser and a QUITTER... LOL

you prove yoursel to be clueless over and over again....

Palin to rally Republicans in Calif. stronghold
The Associated Press
Posted: 10/16/2010 09:34:20 AM PDT
Updated: 10/16/2010 09:34:28 AM PDT

ANAHEIM, Calif.—Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will rally Republicans in a conservative stronghold in Southern California even though a recent poll showed she is unpopular in the state.

The former vice presidential candidate will address supporters at a Republican National Committee event in Orange County on Saturday.

A recent Field Poll showed 58 percent of California's registered voters held a negative view of Palin, though she remains popular with Republicans.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman and Senate challenger Carly Fiorina, who need support from independent voters to win their races, will skip the RNC event.

In addition to Palin and RNC Chairman Michael Steele, the lineup for the rally includes Congressional, state and local officials.

Why? Why should I care what people are paying to hear her message? Let me put it in perspective this way. How much do we pay an 'A' list movie star per film? How much do we pay a 'first string' NFL star per year\game? How much do we pay top rate motivational speakers per engagement? Do you know what the most recent lunch with Buffet was auctioned for? $2.63 Million just to have lunch with him.

If people are willing to pay it...let them pay it. If you have something people are willing to pay for...sell it. What part of her speaking for pay is unethical? As I recall, there was a book in there as well. As far as I can tell, all of it's been above board.

Tell me, Glass. Have you ever done a 'where are they now' kind of thing on Veeps? It's quite interesting. Other than the few that succeeded their Senior Partner through death or resignation, few have ever achieved anything after their stint. In fact, another Dem Veep, John Garner (under FDR) once described it as "not worth a bucket of warm piss."

It is the ultimate 'booby prize' in politics. YEAH! Thanks for your supporters votes! Go sit in the House and twiddle your tumbs for four years. Now, get!

Finally, let's play a game of what if...What if Obama makes it through both terms without getting voted out in 2012. Do you really think that the Dem base PLUS the Independants will vote Biden in as Pres? Be honest now...

koolaid drinkers fo the world unite:

According to the conservative media narrative, Sarah Palin is riding a wave of popularity on her way to taking the presidency in 2012, while President Obama is the most hated man in America. However, contrary to the narrative, a recent poll shows that half of Americans have an unfavorable view of Palin, and just 22% view her favorably. Meanwhile, President Obama's favorability rating sits at 50% with 47% viewing him unfavorably.

seriously SF, why not pick Btritney Spears as leader of the GOP? she is just as qualified...

Alaska has 698,473 thousand people in it..

city #18 Charlotte North Carolina pop.704,422

#19 Memphis Tennessee pop 676,640

that would indicate that the mayor of a city outside the top ten cities would be qualified... i don't think so... esp after she quit...

this really is a Btritny or Paris Hilton moment for eht eGOP and it is very sad..

no, those are not the same numbers:

from the article:

Meanwhile, President Obama's favorability rating sits at 50% with 47% viewing him unfavorably.

this is while he's presiding over a dying economy (i say let the GOP have it back- it'll shut the effers up and nothing will cahnge) and Plain is not even in office...

I have never said I WANT her as Pres. I think she'd make a terrrible president. Same for McCain, Huckabee, Cristy, or any of the others that have been thrown around for the Repub ticket.

Mitt Romney was the closest I've ever come to actually wanting to vote FOR someone for Pres. but the Christian Right (speaking in general) won't even consider a Mormon, so he's doa.

Back to voting against candidates, I guess.

Slightly older article, but pertinent info:

Palin's winners thus far:

Kentucky Senate candidate Rand Paul's GOP primary victory last month may be Palin's most influential win, though Paul's subsequent comments on civil rights and other issues drew plenty of criticism.

Rob Portman won the GOP Senate nomination in Ohio earlier this month, while Adam Kinzinger won his primary to challenge U.S. Rep. Debbie Halvorson in Illinois' 11th Congressional District.

This week, Susana Martinez won her gubernatorial primary in New Mexico and will face Lt. Gov. Diane Denish in November.

Palin also endorsed incumbent Gov. Rick Perry of Texas in his March GOP primary victory over Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson.

Then there are the losers:

GOP "young gun" Vaughn Ward lost his May congressional primary in Idaho after controversy about his use of several lines from President Barack Obama's 2004 Democratic National Convention address, among other things.

Former Fox News analyst Angela McGlowan lost her congressional primary Tuesday in Mississippi.

And last month, Pennsylvania GOP businessman Tim Burns lost to Democrat Mark Critz in a special election to replace the late U.S. Rep. John Murtha.

More info on her 'picks' at the link:

LOL, can't chalk that up to Palin. Rand Paul has this Dad.... and he's in Kentucky so a win there for he GOP (this Nov) is not exactly news...

then there's this Libertarian thing that i like about Rand:

Medical Marijuana Support Helps Rand Paul to Victory
Opinion by Marijuana Policy Project
(May 19, 2010) in Society / Drug Law

For people who still don’t believe that medical marijuana is a mainstream issue supported by a majority of Americans, last night’s GOP Senate primary in Kentucky provided just one more example.

Newcomer Rand Paul, son of Republican congressman Ron Paul, defeated establishment candidate Trey Grayson, in part, because of his support for medical marijuana laws.

Sarah has waffled on pot laws... just like everything else? she answers with sortofs and maybes...

Palin also endorsed incumbent Gov. Rick Perry of Texas in his March GOP primary victory over Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson.

yawn- incumbent wins? not king making

if you think that TParty wins are good for the GOP? i think you will be unpleasantly surprised when they get into office and start messing up the lock-step of the GOP... And i expect they will win in more than a couple cases...

IF they don't mess up that lockstep? then they aren't real T-Party peeps....

and when they start cutting Govt payrolls? you will see the next depression start cuz Govt employees have traditionally been the safest lending "bets" and they'll begin defaulting too...

The typical response when someone goes after Biden. Bush! McCain! Palin!
well, if there were logical attacks against Biden they could be responded to with logic, but there's really not much logic in politics now is there CCM?

to be honest? i said i liked Bident he best out of the Dems feild back before the primaries.

the reason i liked him (and still do) is simply because he says what's on his mind...

you know stuff that the media liks to make fun of..

loosely quoted?

Obama is "clean"... well he was politically clean, and that is why he became president. Hillary was not politically clean cuz she had the dirt of her hubbies presidency all over here...

paying taxes is patriotc

well DUH! it's easy to pladge allegiance, it's easy to wave a flag, but when it's time to fight and pay for the war, where are all those rich folks? They are at their accountants strategising the best way to keep from paying for it,and investing in HAL..

of course it's self interest and that's survival, but dividing and conquering is the oldest winning method there is, and quite frankly? we have divided ourselves...

Plain is now worth millions CCM.. got any idea how much Biden is worth?

think carefully about whether you want your public servants of 40 years becoming multimillionaires or if yo want them to be common folk... TParty main claim to fame is that they are advocates claiming they represent the commmon folk...

Bidens financial disclosures showed that his 3 million dollar home was his primary and nearly only big asset... he had only about 300,000$ in cash in the reports i saw..

that's because he has been a public servant in the real sense fo his 40 years of Senate work...

i found it hard to beleive he was that poor, one of the poorest Senators in fact; so maybe you caould show me something different that i didn't see?

Poor and senator do not go hand in hand. Biden is not a big money man like others, but he is doing ok.

VP salary and perks.... It is like a CEO of a public company. The salary isnt that big, and is what you see on paper, but when you add up all the benefits they make out well.

huh? salary isn't that big? cash, i have no clue what you are talking about now...

money isn't bad being wealthy isn't bad... but how you make your money is what defines you.

Palin is a Diva no matter how hard she tries to deny it... like i said? might as well have Paris Hilton or Britny Spears in her place.... Or any of the boy bands that i have no clue of their names but just know that they have no real talent, and thier claim to fame is that other people fantasize about them...
