History will tell. If we had not invaded Iraq, today the UN sanctions would have been lifted and Saddam would be in power and reinstituting his WMD programs, and the lack of a U.S military presence in the mideast would allow Syria and Iran to be bolder in terrorism, and peace with Israel would be much less likely, and more terrorism aimed at U.S. soil instead of at Iraq would exist.

The Bible is full of instructions for life, that we, as sinners, violate every day! It is called Free-will! YOU choose not to listen!

By the way, women not voting, and black people drinking out of a different water fountain, has absolutely NOTHING, to do with God saying homosexuality is wrong! If he says it is wrong for a man to lay with a man, and a woman to lay with a woman, because it isn't the natural order of things, it is a sin in God's eyes, therefore, as a Christian, I have to say the same! God never said anything, about women not voting, or discrimination against blacks! He told us to love one another! That isn't in a sexual way, unless it is your spouse! Discrimination, comes from people caring about themselves, more than they care about others! Since God loves us all equally, and isn't a respector of persons, that includes both men and women, and ALL colors! The problem here, is with what God labels as sins! Like I've said before, if God can create a universe and everything in it, why would he put something into his Word, that he didn't mean?

See Kate you're making that mistake of confusing religion with state, and have missed my point entirely.

I assume you belong to that segment of the population that believes everyone else must adhere to your belief system. That is not freedom and that is not the America I fought for.

If you don't want to "lay with a women", then don't.

I think it is a profound character statement about people that feel driven to tell other people how to live their lives.

"I'm telling you how God in His Word, tells you to live your life!"

OK Kate, but don't wuss your way around this question...

Do you believe, through laws in America's legal system, that gays should be denied the right to marry if they so chose? Is this belief based on YOUR personal belief in God and what you believe to be his words?

Kate, you are splitting hairs in your assertions here...
the bible does in fact support the idea that women are chattel---voting? they didn't even have voting in those days...

and slavery was also promoted in the bible...

how do you cope with these issues in your belief system? they trouble me....

it get's harder... the tenth commandmnet...this is real mind control stuff...

10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's.

4. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

i'd like to see'em TRY to close a Wal-Mart on the sabbath...

2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

a version of this commandmnet was taken into the Islamic faith and forbids artistic renderings of anything made by God (or Allah).....hmmmmm...

God (the universal quantum computer that causes material manifestation from non-material quantum energy vibrations) put us here to kill one another as much as to love one another.

We are here to learn and not to be good - we learn from being both good and bad but not much from only being good.

We are connected to All at a quantum level, and our development, from understandings that evolve from our experiences, strengthens that development - this is our purpose.

This is really hard to understand, I know.

Martin George R.R.

Sandkings (one word) apparently it was in the first issue...August 1979..
i wish i still had it...apparently it's a collectible now....
made into an Outer Limits show (which i never saw) in 1995... nicely covers the "closed loop effect" of Worship and being Worshipped...

So, you think that just because the men treated the women like chattel, that it was correct behavior? Why then, did Jesus go to the woman at the well, who was a well-known prostitute, and tell the men that were going to stone her to death, that whoever was without sin, that they were to cast the first stone? Stoning was their way of dealing with a woman who slept around, and the men that did the sleeping around, thought they had no blame! They all looked at Jesus, and no one was able to cast the first stone, because none of them were without sin, just as none of us is without sin. Jesus then told the woman that she was forgiven, and not to sin anymore!
The Bible mentions that Mary and Martha were two of Jesus's closest friends, and he treated them with love and respect. Jesus is our example. There were also several women mentioned in the Bible, who held church in their homes, and preached about Jesus! Just as the Iraqi people treated their women like trash, that is how the Israli people did, that weren't Christians! The Old Testament is a history of how they lived, and about the prophesies of Jesus coming. If it goes against the ten commandments, or Jesus's teachings, they were not living the way they were supposed to be! If you read the ten commandments, those were the laws they were to live by, and didn't. The only slavery we are to live by, is having Jesus as the master. No man or woman, should be your master, because God is NO respector of persons! He loves us all equally! You guys think loving God is a cult? That is sadddddddddddd!

Sorry Glass,
Jesus told us to be His disciples, or fishers of men, which means to go and tell others HIS will for their lives, by sharing HIS WORD, the Holy Bible!
As Christians we are supposed to do, what His twelve disciples did, while they lived with Jesus as a man, on this earth! Not sit on our butts, and let people continue on, sinning! Read the NEW testament, on what the twelve disciples did! They gave up their families, to follow Jesus, and performed many miracles, even after His death and resurrection! They also died at martyrs for Jesus, because they had seen with their own eyes, HIS love and power! We as Christians, are to have "faith without seeing". We are supposed to share HIS Word, with those who don't know it! Yes, I am nondenominational, because my church believes in the Bible literally, and they don't pick it apart, to suit thier own purposes! We live by the Word!

Hey, I only try to type the way I talk!
Yes, Jesus was angry at the money changers! Why was he angry with them? I wonder what makes him angry today? War isn't pretty! No one likes war! God didn't like war, but he asked people to go to war! Joshua fought a great battle, and there were women and children killed, during the battle that God had commanded! Sometimes, we have to do what we have to do, to make things better in the end! Sometimes it is a matter of trying to stop the evil, and loosing a few, than not trying, and loosing a lot, especially when souls are involved! Not that we want to ever loose lives, but it is inevitable when we are fighting, not just evil people, but also principalities!

Kate. Did Jesus ask anyone to go to war? this is why i am praying for Christians to focus more on the New Testament.

seems like the Bible can be used almost any way one wishes to use it Kate.....

As I've said before Glass, in previous posts, Jesus said that not one jot or tittle of the Word, should be changed! God includes the Old Testament, as well as the New! We aren't to add to, or take away from the Word. Revelations 22:19
And if any man shall take away from the Words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. I for one, wouldn't want to do it! [Smile]

If you were sitting in your house, and you looked across the street at the neighbors house, and someone was murdering them, what would you do? Would you let them? How do you know that your house wouldn't be next? If it was, what would you do? Would you kill them, to protect your family? Would that be considered a good thing, or a bad thing? A neighbor, is anyone other than your own household, according to God! Iraq is our neighbor, and the murderers, were killing them! We went to help and protect them. That does'nt make it easy, but it is necessary! My neighbor boy, who I watched grow from a baby, just left two weeks ago, for Iraq, and yes, his parents support the war, and are terrified that their son might not make it, but they know that it is a necessary part of life, to help the future of their children, and grandchildren. Our job is to support them, and pray for them!
