we NEED to spend about 1 billion on this problem..and instead we are finding other ways to spend it... and it doesn't NEED to be this way.... at least it DIDN'T.... we may be able to do a little better...
one day, the sheep will look up, hopefully it won't be too late...

quote:Originally posted by glassman: is this why they hate US???? NO, they hate US because they THINK we are trying to FORCE them into accepting our religion....i know, you don't think so...ASK THEM why....
Glass, yes that is part of why they hate us. They have hated us since their religion was created. They hated the hindus just as much as us. Our exploration of space is a direct result of our freedoms. They detest freedom. Check out Afganistan pre 2002. If it were up to them we would all worship allah the same way and be locked in a pre fourteenth century like society.

DQR, i do know that the crusades never ended... MAYBE, they never will.... that doesn't mean it's correct to inflame the issues...
in my interpretation of our religion, GOD is still creating US.... who am i to judge the workmanship?
i see evil in each of US, myself included...
i know these guys are bad, and i know we have to stop THEM, but there are more being converted to osam every day.
it is imperative to remember that osam is NOT ISLAM....
my biggest concern is that many of US don't really get that, and if we don't do this job correctly, it may not matter, we may force them all to choose to fight US...
i see a lot reasons to say this job IS NOT being done correctly (intentionally or by stupidity)... if we continue on the path we are on..... i can't accept that Bush ever thought this would trigger 55$ a barrel oil...i think he expected 20$ after Iraq...we secured the wells first, remember? don't put a checkers player in a chess tournament...
Iraq was not supposed to be a real war....Bush thought he was plucking a plum...it's all right there in print if you go back and read it..i have, and i've provided quite a few links(i know you were gone for awhile) i have looked at this from a lot of angles.(not every) the embedded reporters were supposed to show the world we were good guys...not how fast we could take Baghdad... the world already KNOWS we kikbutt....
i see one set of excuses after another.... and you so glibly say "what war ever went as planned"? i'm trying to figure out what parts of this are planned and which aren't, and i don't like what i see...
afghanistan was absolutely a good call....but we aren't done there yet either..not for YEARS...that would have been good enough to PROVE our goodness...and could have propelled us forward for ten more years in a VERY positive light ....and we could convert CHILDREN cuz only a very few adults can ever be converted
Iraq was "optional" we are now fighting two fronts...we can't really open another one at the moment and Iran is taking advantage of that...they tested a new missile today... they are not shaking in their boots like they should be, are they?
protraying people like me as wimps is silly... i play hard and i fight harder...you just haven't figured out when i start fighting...cuz you still haven't seen it...

wow what a game, gotta love seeing the yanks lose. at home. so bad. Ahhhh
Glass did I see that right, are you an O's fan? Say it ain't so. Maybe we should talk more sports, because its the only thing we agree on. Who is your football team?
As far as politics, we don't agree. All I can say is thank God you weren't around for WWII.
Thats the last thing I am going to say as far as politics. I will continue to pray that the good Lord continues to bless this land, that the right man gets put into office, and that kerry isn't my boss.
Billy Kilmer? Maybe John Riggins... i hate to admit i was happy when Joe Theisman got his leg broke by LT (i know my evil self)Theisamn wasn't a team player-- teamwork ALWAYS wins in the end and i don't like the new owner, but i am glad that Joe Gibbs is back...

Well I was a skins fan back when Monk, Doug Williams were playing, but now that Carolina has a team I pull for them. I wasn't an O's fan until two seasons ago when I got stationed in MD. Was a cards fan because of Ozzie. Caps and Canes fan when they play.

Neither man initiated any war. President Lincoln did not take action until the provisional Confederate army captured Fort Sumpter, three months after his inauguration. President Bush responded to the war brought to our shores only after the bombing of 9/11, eight months after his inauguration. Both men fully understood that taking such action endangered the chance they had for a second term. Both still acted, because it was the right thing to do.
this is a lie
Bush initiated Bombing Iraq ON HIS OWN ORDER, and 911 was not Iraq...it was Saudi...big difference, and they appear to be funding the Iraqi insurgents NOW.....
i notice this author doesn't address the voter registration issues in Fla. that actually led to Bush's disfavor witht the NAACP....
these issues are real.... documented, and the governor is another Bush...try again.....
i understand this program only got proposed... When President Bush proposed a $450 million program to mentor urban middle school students and children of prisoners...we heard nothing from the NAACP
which country is this guy from????
In the meantime, my countrymen are slowly learning the joys of freedom of speech in Iraq. My countrywomen are starting their second year of learning to read and write in Afghanistan. This is all because one president, one administration, and one mighty military force, decided that freedom is a right worth defending. President Bush is our Lincoln
as far as i'm concerned, this guy's attitude just supports the idea that this is a holy war, and the idea of starting a Holy War by LYING seems a little WRONG to me....
especially since the likely outcome is for Iraq to become another Muslim nation..... and it WAS NOT BEFORE........

Glass I am curious to know the last time you talked with a soldier who was in Iraq, an Iraqi, or even a Kuwaiti. I talk to all three regularaly and you should know they disagree with you. Seems to me I will take their word for what is happening over there and not you.

I doubt you fought anything but nervous paranoia... you obviously lost that battle. I mean have you talked to them about the conditions in Iraq/ what is being accomplished there/ what has been accomplished there in the past.

Well, I'm home now. We got food out of a bucket from some contract catering service that works natural disasters, it wasn't too bad. Actually when I left a week ago much of downtown, the French Quarter, and the west bank area we're up an running. The upper 9th and lower 9th are totally effed up. Some families have moved back in, but not many (about 1 per block). Obviously the water damage is quite extensive and most homes should robably just be bulldozed. There was one family we looked in on from time to time that was just waiting for power to come back. They already had their house cleaned out and were getting new furniture. Other than their hardwood floors being destroyed and needing to do a little re-wiring, they were OK. They mentioned to me that they were told they DIDN'T need flood insurance by the city because they lived in a non-flood area. Amazing!!! The people were great, and were genuinely happy we were there, it was nice. It did seem wierd patrolling the streets in an American city with an M4 though.
-------------------- If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all.
