Don't forget the west coast is on their way to work and picking up USA Today. Give the day some time. The ad says in BIG LETTERS "CONTACT YOUR LOCAL CABLE COMPANY". It did not say "contact your local satellite TV company"! Frank's recent pr mentioned expanded coverage areas. Why put out a "Nationwide" ad if most people cannot receive the signal. They are not that stupid. Probably later today there will be a pr about additional carriers/coverage areas. The only negative would be the ad was for people to campaign their local cable company to convince them to carry the signal. Not sure how that would work. IP: Logged |

Firestone Communications, Inc. Contracts with VCI for Sales and Traffic Software for the Q Television Network Springfield, MA, January 4, 2005– Video Communications, Incorporated (VCI), supplier of integrated media solutions to the broadcast and cable industry, announced that Firestone Communications, Inc. selected its flagship product, STARS II+, as their key business operations system for the Q Television Network. Firestone manages the daily operations including master control and traffic for many cable networks while their clients run the content and scheduling functions. VCI’s STARS II + is currently being used to run these processes for Firestone’s clients such as Sorpresa!, “Because of the successful relationship that we have built with VCI, there is a comfort zone that we are able to relay to our new clients. Not only is STARS II+ easy to use but our experience with the training has been very successful and ahead of schedule,” stated Leonard Firestone, CEO of Firestone Communications. The installation of STARS II+ was completed at Q Television Network in mid November. Christopher Ruggles, Traffic Manager for Q Television Network commented, “A couple weeks before VCI started the on-site training, I was able to review the user manual. Being new to the industry, I had no idea what I was getting myself into as the Traffic Manager. VCI’s training was so comprehensive that all the elements I had read about in the manual fell into place and made sense. It was so straightforward and easy.” VCI was selected from three competing vendors because they offered a better solution including training, pricing, and customer service. “VCI has a solid product that easily produces affidavits, discrepancy reports, and skim avails. Their customer service is very responsive 24/7,” said Mr. Firestone. ”Our experience at VCI has allowed us to build a robust and reliable product that supports our clients and provides them with a modern, up-to-date and cost effective solution,” said W. Lowell Putnam, President and CEO of VCI. About Firestone Firestone Communications, Inc., (www.firestoneinc.com) is a privately held media company based in Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas. Firestone’s core business is the network origination and uplink of cable and broadcast networks, ownership of the cable network, Sorpresa!, and complete commercial and television production services. Company executives have produced television programming for Univision, Telemundo, Turner Broadcasting, and many other clients. The company’s facilities include over 43,000 square feet of offices, production studios, fully digital master control, Avid editing suites and a comprehensive tape library. About Q Television Network This television network was organized to create and develop a network devoted to providing television programming for the gay and lesbian community. While the company expects much of its subscriber base to be comprised of members of the gay and lesbian population, management also believes that quality programming about the gay and lesbian experience, designed to entertain, educate and inform, will attract many other segments of the viewing public. The company's programming will be available on a subscription basis to those desiring its programming. The network will broadcast 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Providing distribution via satellite ensures availability of the network across the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. About VCI VCI offers an open, standards-based sales, traffic, and accounting solution that is designed for modern broadcast and cable business practices. VCI's product, STARS II+™, enables broadcasters in all size markets- from small market independents to the multi-station cluster operations - to assemble and edit logs faster, while managing commercial inventory more efficiently. STARS II+'s SalesDesk empowers sales teams to make strategic financial decisions while managing client accounts with maximum effectiveness. Based on the popular Microsoft® Windows® operating systems, STARS II+ offers robust functionality, an easy-to-use graphical user interface, and ODBC database support for flexible customization and reporting. VCI's commitment to providing high quality core business solutions to the broadcast and cable industries has resulted in more than 225 customer sites throughout North America. IP: Logged |
