the two are very much the same, but PPo is a little more "extreme" so it "reads" better. I believe that's why Stockcharts . com uses a PPO instead of MACD.
I put the two of them together here, when doing a centerline cross go by the MACD when you want "details"
Have a look you'll see what I mean ~
We are right at the cross! And that BS order that just went thru for $6 for 189 shares just dropped us... I believe someone is playing games now cause they know this will pop!

That's the downside to Christmas and/or holidays - everyone has other things on their minds besides making money the old fashioned way - heck no, not working, trading! LOL (oh how I WISH that statement applied to me today....no vaca until Jan. 1st)

What days are the market closed over the holidays?
From what I can find just Monday - no mention of early closing another day...plus banking regs prohibit financial institutions from being closed two business days in a row.

Thank you
Welcome
That regulation came out of the crash in '29 when people could not take their money out...if you recall, the banks closed to keep what they could...
Actually, I should clarify - the rule (which I just verified with the bank) is three days of any kind, so they could be closed two during the regular week back-to-back, but not, for example, Thursday for Thanksgiving and Friday too because of the weekend.

Hey Lock ~ Yes I would love it if it were rising, right now it's about staying the same which means the same is coming in as going out. But, as SherriT pointed out...
A surge in the price of stocks that often occurs in the week between Christmas and New Year's. There are numerous explanations for this phenomenon, including tax considerations, happiness around Wall Street, people investing their Christmas bonuses and the fact that the pessimists are usually on vacation this week.
Many consider the Santa Claus rally to be a result of people buying stocks in anticipation of the rise in stock prices during the month of January, otherwise known as the January effect.

That's why I say "simmer" might be the word today.
