American firms managing the ports buying security products from American firms. Port security is the hotest political issue out there right now and DDSI is poised to reap the rewards. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/03/09/politics/main1385030.shtml

Keeping my fingers crossed for contracts as a result."

The security of our ports are handled by the US and would never have been part of the Dubai deal. That is the problem. Most people do not understand that security had nothing to do with the Dubai deal. It was all politics plan and simple.

Tape worm, I do agree with you to a degree. The Dubai firm would manage the operation and would not administer security but I don't think you can manage a port without being involved with security to some extent and to say it was a pure political play is not entirely true. Both sides of the house were against this and there were legitimate concerns. Anyway, this certainly won't hurt DDSI's chances of landing a contract. The more emphasis for American firms managign and/or producing security products for containers etc. the better. Come on DDSI - just give us a PR that states you're in the early stages of discussing contract deal. Do it now!

I have a good feeling about today. Normally I would never call for a rise on a Friday as many are usually converting to cash for Monday but something tells me we are gonna see some good movement.
Just a gut feeling.

I'm rapidly learning that gut feelings are about 1% accurate; nothing substitutes for diligent DD.

Never buy on a gut feeling. But once you are in feel free to have all the gut feelings you want... as long as you remember to trade with your head!
Seeing how many trades go through at .0003 over the next two hours should give a good indication of what we can expect today.
Here's to hoping!

If DDSI makes a run, I will be able to retire from my day job and have more time for DD.

That's the dream of 70% of the people on this board. (Me included)
The other 25% have already made it.
(5% is reserved for those odd folks that like to work for a living.)

hmmm...perhaps I should add a category for the college kids on here that don't know what a full time job and mortgage means yet.
Go DDSI

I don't understand everyone's angst against letting a Dubai firm manage ports. The UAE is an ally of the U.S. This anti-Arab sentiment that seems to abound, especially in the U.S. Congress is a sad statement of what our leaders are capable of IMO.
That being said I would love to see DDSI score a major govt. contract.

I understand what you are saying Gator. And now that I know that port management doesn't have much to do with port security I wouldn't have a problem with it.
But before I knew that I was wondering why the hell ANY of our ports were in control of non-US entities, regardless of origin. I think the port deal touched too many hot buttons without giving the country enough information to make a rational judgement and the result is obvious.
Repub's were already scared about supporting an unpopular president, Dem's were looking for another weak spot to strike, and the flood of communications into their offices about the whole deal made this a huge constituant issue.
Perhaps in the long run this will be a good thing. Media says it's not getting big press in UAE which means the relationship will likely recover and it put our ports on the frontline of politics.
One thing I think everyone can agree on is that Homeland Security can and should do better. And they should use DDSI tech to do it with!!

I think the information was out there for anyone to read and learn about it that wanted to. The attitude people have taken in this and towards Arabs in general is appalling to me. Shame on President Bush for not to sticking to his guns on this and the rest of Congress for not standing up and explaining this situation to their constituents instead of panicking and adding fuel to the fire as it were.
As an American who believes firmly in freedom and capitalism it saddens me to say I am ashamed of our leaders. What does it say to the rest of the world? It says 'we will take what we want from you (i.e. intelligence in the mid-east and help in the search for bin Laden), but don't trust you to do business with you' That's how allies become enemies.

my entire family has served in the military. That view is why the rest of the world hates Americans. Maybe you should spend some time living abroad...it would open you up to more philosphical ideas. Where is Henry Kissinger when you need him? This is not a zero-sum game. It's people with views like that that allowed the Cold War to continue as long as it did.
